hit the spot

April 24, 2013

This week is flying by at lightning speed! I thought at the beginning of the week that this week wasn’t that busy, but I guess I was just joking. Tonight is actually the only night I don’t have anything going on. Tomorrow night I have a school function and Friday we have a going away party for a friend. Thank goodness for a weekend with no plans!

Breakfast – 6:00 AM

April 24, 2013 017

A big old bowl of chex and banana slices totally hit the spot this morning. I really haven’t been a big fan of cereal for years and years, but somehow it has made a comeback lately.

On my way into work, my eyelids felt extremely heavy so I stopped for a little pick me up. I can now handle iced coffee in small doses! Hot coffee still grosses me out, and I only drink a small one a few times a week – the small dose of caffeine was much needed this morning!

Snack – 9:00 AM

This morning my school participated in an hour of no power for Earth Day (which was Monday). My classroom lights were turned off, but I couldn’t turn off my computer. It was my plan time and not having my computer available for me during that time would be have horrible! During my break I snacked on an apple.

Lunch – 11:15 AM

Well, lunch didn’t get photographed today, but I swear it was FILLED to the brim with veggies! I packed a huge salad with some avocado and hard boiled egg for protein and fat. On the side I had a Chobani.

This afternoon my team and I were at the district office for a three hour meeting. Thankfully it meant I got to see some of my friends that teach at another school – and it meant snacks! A teacher from another school supplied me with a lot of chocolate (good woman!) and I also ate this granola bar. It was just meh.

Dinner – 6:00 PM

I had an acupuncture appointment after school (and didn’t fall asleep – bummer), and when I got home I was STARVING. There was ridiculous traffic for the first half of my trip, and Little Miss Baby A decided it would be a fun time to jump all over my bladder. Needless to say, when I got home I was ready for a bathroom break and to break out my sweats before dinner.

The Husband was pleasantly surprised by our dinner and still cannot believe when meat enters my body these days. I put some pork in the crock pot this morning, and I’ve been dreaming about pulled pork sandwiches all day long. It still sounds weird to me talking about craving meat! I am actually nervous posting a picture of my dinner – gaaah!

April 24, 2013 022
We had bbq pulled pork sandwiches (topped with extra barbecue sauce) with roasted asparagus on the side. It totally hit the spot.

As of right now, I’m not really feeling any other sort of snack tonight. However, that could change at any moment in time. As for now, I’m going to spend a relaxing night reading…. and, ::sigh:: playing Candy Crush because I’m addicted.

Question: What did you eat for dinner tonight?

I totally feel the same about this week, going by crazy fast! And I have a ton to do this whole weekend starting tomorrow night. Yikes.
It’s the worst when you’re at acupuncture and can’t get to sleep, it’s just so awkward with all the needles hanging in there;)
Don’t worry about eating meat, clearly your body is craving it. My Mom went through the same thing when she was pregnant!
Happy Wednesday:)

Meat is wonderful. Especially pulled pork… yum. :-)

Pulled pork is one of the best meat options available, in my humble opinion. ;-)
I had french toast with blueberries and maple syrup and a slice of bacon for dinner tonight. It was pretty fabulous!

I was a vegan who craved meat during my pregnancy as well. I def. had my fair share of pulled pork during my pregnancy! (And more…)

If you are still in the mood for a pork + crockpot dish, I HIGHLY suggest these Crockpot Carnitas…. http://creationsofawannabechef.blogspot.com/2013/03/amazing-carnitas.html
You won’t regret it!

I think it’s really wonderful that you’re listening to your body during this crucial time! As a vegan, I can’t imagine ever eating meat again, but I know that when I get pregnant, I’m going to do what feels right, even if that means eating pulled pork (which looks delicious, by the way). I was wondering if maybe you could write a post about your decision to eat meat right now? And if it’ll be a permanent thing once the girls are running around?

Tonight I had a bowl of quinoa (first time ever cooking it! I’m way behind, I know) and mixed in a bunch of roasted veggies like bell pepper, jalapeno pepper, garlic, corn and tomatoes. Oh yeah, and avocado too! Loved it. I really like those pb dark chocolate granola bars! If you think they’re ‘meh,’ feel free to send them my way next time ;)

Have a great rest of the week!

So funny you’ve been craving cereal because that was one of my biggest cravings when I was preggers and before that I wasn’t really much of a fan. Now I’m back to not eating it that often again. So weird! Dinner for us tonight was Paleo Cabbage rolls stuffed with turkey and mashed cauliflower along with a salad. They turned out pretty good!

You are doing what is right for you and if someone is judging you—- they can go fly a kite! ….A plan period with no computer would have no good, no good at all! Glad you got to keep working- even in the dark!
Supper tonight was baked salmon with a spinach salad. Delicious!

I love pulled pork/chicken sandwiches. I think it’s so interesting how your tastes seem to be changing so much while you are pregnant. I am not close to having kids but I’m really interested to see how my body responds. I think pregnancy cravings are such a strange thing. My dinner tonight was a greek yogurt, granola and apple bowl.

I absolutely love a bowl of cereal with banana slices, it’s so fast and easy and delicious! Not sure why cereal has gotten such a bad rep in the HLB world but I eat it all the time haha. And pulled pork for dinner mm, looks so good!

I’ve also been indulging in meat occasionally. I figure if my body wants it this badly while pregnant then I should give it some. I’ve noticed since eating some meat that the cravings are not nearly as strong either. I guess it’s our bodies’ way of telling us what it wants! :-)

I love a good pulled pork sandwich! But why were you nervous about posting the picture? No one is judging you girl! It’s your diet and your cravings, and you should do what you want! :)

My dinner (last night, since it’s now 7:30 am) was roasted sweet potato, roasted brussels sprouts, 2 leftover meatballs with a BBQ sauce glaze, and 1 fried egg. Kind of random because I’m trying to eat up some foods before I move tomorrow!

Why is it that I go nuts when I see a bowl of cereal? It looks so delicious. Probably because it IS delicious. The only bummer is it only holds me over for about 30 seconds!
Last night for dinner we had spaghetti squash with marinara, ground beef, mushrooms, and parmesan cheese. It definitely hit the spot!

I guess if your body is craving meat then it wants it for a reason! Just keep giving it what it wants!

Katie April 25, 2013 at 7:48 am

It’s good to see you are listening to your cravings :) I can totally relate to you being nervous about posting that picture. I have only eaten chicken and fish for years and when I got pregnant last july all I craved was bacon, burgers and red meat…When I started eating them my family and friends were shocked, but I think it’s just our body’s way of telling us what nutrients it wants!

I’ll admit I love meat. I know alot of bloggers are vegetarians or vegan, but I wouldn’t be able to do it. Grilled chicken is a dinner staple for me.

Mmmm that asparagus looks so good, I haven’t had it in forever. For dinner last night I had minestrone soup and a salad with goat cheese, apples, and chicken. So yummy and simple! Then a huge ass dessert after because it wasn’t filling enough ;)

This is sooo interesting to me! As a vegetarian, I’ve always wondered what it will be like when I’m pregnant. My husband also secretly hopes I will crave meat and never turn back haha.

I hate the stigma attached to vegetarians returning to carnivorous diets. I stopped eating meat for awhile, but it messed up certain “things” and I have once again returned to eating poultry. I haven’t told many people and while part of me feels like a hypocrite, part of me know I have to give my body what it needs!
