fun facts friday

June 21, 2013

1. It’s getting harder and harder to breathe with every passing day. This will certainly be interesting in 8-10 more weeks, that’s for sure.

2. On Wednesday afternoon, I trekked downtown to the city to have lunch with one of my favorites, Lauren. We went to Southport Grocery and Cafe, which she had been dying to try. I had never heard of it before, but I was up for it! We snagged a table in the sunshine and both had delicious salads. The cafe was a little weird about add on’s and substitutions (Lauren wasn’t able to add grilled chicken to her salad), but the food and atmosphere was really great!

3. Oh, and after lunch we each got one of these gems. I’m not even sure what it was, but it was delicious.

4. I had one of the best naps yesterday – like, ever. I don’t even know how long I slept, but I woke up feeling so refreshed. It was much needed!

5. How freaking adorable is she?

6. On another not so adorable note, little lady is having serious separation anxiety from her mama and nana. When I watched her the other day for a couple of hours, she spent the entire time crying and saying “nana back momo (tomorrow)”, “nana parp (park) momo”, and “aubrey nigh nigh” (because she knew nana would be back in the morning). It broke this auntie’s heart! We did a lot of cuddling and Sesame Street watching.

7. So, did anyone notice their nose getting wider during pregnancy? I SWEAR to you my nose has gotten bigger. All I have to say is it better be going back to normal come September.

8. Look – dresser with the hardware on! I am loving it.

We also bought a storage unit (this one in white) and it came yesterday. I’m hoping I can get the Husband to put it together this weekend. ::hint hint Husband::

10. It’s the weekend – happy Friday!

She’s very freaking adorable :) And I’m hoping that one of those amazing naps graces me this afternoon… I’ve been up since 4:30 and I don’t think I’m going to make it through the day without one.

Sometimes when I wake up super early and am so tired are the days where I CAN’T take a nap because I just can’t fall asleep. That’s the worst!

Your little niece looks so like you!!! Maybe yoga might help you to relax and help ease the breathing? Just a thought but worth a try! I think Courtney has some good DVDs.

cleaneatingchelsey June 23, 2013 at 5:43 pm

She does look just like me - much to my sister’s dismay! ;)

I could definitely try yoga - it mighthelp. Although I’m sure the babies + my organs getting squished is the culprit. ;)

Ha. Thank you so much for that Buzzfeed link. Hilarious.
Also I feel like my nose gets bigger everyday and I’m not pregnant. Just crazy, maybe.

haha! Well your ears and nose never stop growing unlike the rest of your body, so maybe that’s it?

Naps are the best! If I take one too long though I wake up super groggy.

It was so so good to see you my love and that salad was one of the best I’ve had in awhile - despite the lack of grilled chicken. Can’t wait to see you again soon and for another mid-week lunch date!

Naps while being pregnant is the best sleep you will ever get! I miss those pregnancy naps. I would sleep 20-30 minutes and felt so great when I woke up.

I really like your hardware choices! Is that a weird thing to compliment? I always notice hardware on cabinets and whatnot, haha.

Gahhh I can’t believe you only have 8-10 more weeks… How did time fly by so quickly?!

I love, love, love the hardware on the dresser. Adorable!

And that little Aubrey… Cute as can be!

I don’t know! And the 8-10 weeks would put me at 34-36 weeks. I’m thinking somewhere in there is when I’ll go. Today my sister predicted August 15 - eeek! That’s early!

Aubrey is adorable, sorry she wasn’t too excited to be spending time with aunt chelsie yesterday. I feel like being pregnant in the hot heat of the summer would be hard. I hope your able to enjoy some nice air conditioning and lots of relaxing before the little girls get here.

That’s okay - she’s just going through a phase. And she was much better on Friday afternoon with me, so we’re all good. ;)

I’ve heard of women’s fit growing during pregnancy but never their noses. Interesting!!
And that buzzfeed link is hilarious : )

My feet have definitely gotten a little wider!

Reply

Deborah June 21, 2013 at 8:52 am

About no. 7…yes, my nose swelled. It was crazy. But that wasn’t all. My fingers swelled. My feet flattened out. My skin got dark and slightly blotchy. And my fingernails got jaggedy at the nail beds. I ate healthy and took all my vitamins as recommended but still had all that happen. Two weeks after I gave birth to my daughter I was back to my former self (except for the belly, of course). You’ll be fine! :-)

Love that dresser with the hardware..perfect for a girl’s room! And that Aubrey, such a cutie! I’m sure she’s going through a phase…which doesn’t make it any easier when she wants someone other than you, does it?

Reply

haha - I was with her for a while today and she was much better. And she’s perfectly fine with me when my mom’s around. She is just going through a clingy stage!

I didn’t notice my nose changing BUT one side of my face droops now I SWEAR. hahah Is that weird? I didn’t notice it until after I had him (I think), so maybe my botched epi did something to my nerves? I’m dead serious about this. I need to Google it.

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey June 21, 2013 at 2:34 pm

LOL - that’s too weird! It’s probably nerve related from the epi or from maybe him sitting on a nerve for too long?

ACTUALLY - now that I think about it, my fourth grade teacher developed Bells Palsy on one side of her face during her pregnancy. I remember being afraid of her. lol!

Hahaha, my mom warned me about the nose widening thing!! I don’t think it’s happened to me, but it is a real thing! (and not permanent, from what I hear) ;)

Reply

Really!?!? I feel like I’ve read that if you’re pregnant with a girl it’s more likely to happen!

Sam @ Better With Sprinkles June 21, 2013 at 10:08 am

I can’t even remember the last time I had a nap! I’m still getting used to 6 am wake-ups, so I could probably use one!
And I’ve never heard of the nose thing, but it’s possible, I suppose?

The handles look SO awesome on the dresser. Nice choices lady ;) My niece Ella is SO attached to my SIL and my MIL. We saw her yesterday though and I’m surprised she actually said something to me haha

LOL - She’s pretty reserved and only has a handful of people she’s really comfortable with. Sometimes she won’t even let John LOOK in her direction. It’s ridiculous. Today I was with her for a while though and she was a lot better. She’s just in that clingy stage!

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey June 21, 2013 at 2:31 pm

I’ve read two theories - one, it’s a girl thing. Two, your nose widens to allow more oxygen into the body since your lungs are getting squished. ;) Whatever it is, it needs to stop!

Reply

Melissa June 21, 2013 at 4:41 pm

There is a legit scientific reason for it. When you are pregnant your body releases a hormone called relaxin. Like the name implies, its job is to relax the body. Namely the ligaments in your hips. It also works on cartilage. Because your nose is mainly cartilage, many women find their nose widens in pregnancy.

Yup, a good friend of mine had twin girls and her nose def. got a lot wider while pregnant! But, the good thing is, afterwards it went right back and she is super pretite (all around) already! So, it does go back to normal (as others said). ;-)

I wish I could do that during the day! No matter how tired I am, I simply cannot nap to save my life. You truly have a gift. :) I hope you enjoy the weekend!

My face always gets puffy and my nose widens when I’m pregnant! (Well, twice so far…) Plus my feet grow… it’s awful. But never fear, my nose has always gone back to normal pretty much immediately. I know another girl whose nose also grew but is now exactly the way it was. I frantically googled this last time and a lot of women said the same thing. No worries!
