26 weeks: maternity shoot photos

No intro today – let’s get down to business!

Weight Gained: Still moving up, I’m sure! This past week I was pretty hungry, so I’m guessing the girls are going through a nice little growth spurt. I can’t wait to see how much they weigh at my next ultrasound in a few weeks! I’m guessing I’m up to 18-20 pounds by now, just by looking at my enormous belly! (which by the way is MUCH bigger than I thought. It was measured at my shower on Sunday. YIIIIIIIIIKES.)

Symptoms: This week wasn’t as bad as last week – or maybe I’ve just gotten used to the symptoms I described last week. Either way, it’s all the same…. back pain, contractions, acid reflux. Bring on 10 more weeks (hopefully!) of that!

Movement: All day, every day!

Food Cravings: All of the food. Last night we ate spaghetti, and that hit the spot!

Food Aversions: None – I even bought a tub of hummus last week!

Sleep: Sleep has been on and off this week – I had a few nights where I slept really well. However, I had a few nights where I was either up for 2-3 hours during the night or up at 5 AM either because I was hungry or the girls were salsa dancing in utero. I just keep telling myself I’m just so happy I don’t have to deal with a horrible night’s sleep and then get up and go to work in the morning! Gotta love summers!

Stretch Marks? Still none! I’ve been meaning to ask my mom if she ever got any when she was pregnant since it’s supposedly a hereditary thing – Mom?

Miss Anything? Still sleeping on my stomach, a nice large glass of sangria, and running!

Looking forward to: finding out what these two actually look like. In a dream I had on Sunday night, I got a crazy visualization of what I think they’ll look like!

Belly Button in or out? Half in, half out until the end of the day! Then it’s all out. I noticed the other day when I was having contractions that it goes all the way back in when I’m contracting. Hilarious!

Happy or moody most of the time? I’d say a pretty even mix. Seriously, I feel bad for my husband sometimes. I’m so moody!

New Baby Items: Um… just about EVERYTHING! We had our first shower on Sunday, and I have to say that we are so incredibly blessed to have amazing family and friends in our lives. We were showered with love, and people went above and beyond anything I was ever expecting. Being the anal organizer that I am, most things are already in their places.

I also went out and exchanged our diaper bag – not because I didn’t like the one I registered for, but when we got it on Sunday I realized that there was NO way it was going to be big enough for two babies’ belongings. So I went to Buy Buy Baby yesterday with my  mom (and Aubrey – who calls it “Bye Baby” and waves), and exchanged it for the Ju-Ju-Be Prepared bag. I did some research on Sunday night about the best bags for multiples, and this is what everyone kept reiterating. I kind of am in love with it.

We also got our storage unit for the room, and I have to admit – I was wrong. I originally didn’t want anything big, but now that it’s up, I’m glad we have it. (The Husband is probably smiling ear to ear reading that one)

Exercise: A few short walks – maybe 3? So not too many! I was nervous to push it last week because I started getting contractions if I was up on my feet too much. I might take a walk today and see how it goes!

We finally got our maternity pictures in the mail yesterday, so I wanted to share a few of the pictures with you since you all seemed pretty interested in seeing them. I loved the photographer we used, and if you’re in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, I highly recommend her. Email me for information! Get ready for picture overload!

 
I’m planning on making a book of these pictures, and I want to frame one or two to put around the house. I am having SUCH a hard time deciding which ones to frame!!! (I would also feel bad/full of myself if I framed one of just me, but I love that B&W shot of me looking at my belly)

A few final notes for 26 weeks:

• the glucose drink was not bad at ALL – it tasted like Orange Hi-C
• The two hour waiting period for the glucose test WAS bad. It was so boring, and my head was pounding from all of that sugar.
• I had the craziest, most vivid dream about the girls on Sunday night. For that reason, for fun I’m asking you all to cast your vote below on when you think they’ll arrive. I’ll tell you about my dream in a few days after people have a chance to tell me what they think. For your information – the girls are due on September 28. The average twins arrive at 35 weeks, which would be August 24.
