RIP Google Reader

June 30, 2013

It is with great sadness that I share that Google Reader will no longer be available as of July 1st (aka – TOMORROW!!!). I’m not going to lie, I’m pretty upset about this change.  While I’m not neurotic with my organization in Reader, I do have all of my beloved blogs all there for me at my finger tips.

I do want to make sure you will still be able to follow Clean Eating Chelsey as well as all of your other favorite blogs, so I’m here to provide you with a few options. Both options are extremely easy to use, and I actually signed up for both of them (literally took 5 seconds) because I can’t decide which one I like better.

First up – Feedly

The concept is simple. You go to Feedly, you go to sign up and you can import your Google Reader in just one click. Then after you create an account, all of your favorite blogs are there for you!

Next – BlogLovin’

BlogLovin’ has the same concept. Import your Google Reader with one click and you’re good to go!

The only thing that I dislike about these two feeds is that there is no handy dandy “next” button that I have so loved from Google Reader over the last 3-4 years – unless I’m stupid and can’t figure it out. ;)

You can always follow me in a few different ways too – Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter are all social media accounts that I use on a daily basis.

Don’t procrastinate any longer – take the five seconds to do this, bookmark whichever blog reader you’re going to use, and I’ll see you tomorrow!

I’m not gonna lie…I love Bloglovin’ way more than Google Reader. But still, RIP to the good ol’ GR ;)

I never used Google Reader, but I have really been enjoying Bloglovin’ since I started using it about 2 weeks ago. And in regard to the “next” button, on the majority of the pages that I visit, there is an “older” button at the top which I use to visit the next blog. Does yours have this?

Once you click on a site (in Bloglovin’), there should be the Bloglovin’ toolbar at the top of the page. There should be an “older” button you can press to scroll through OR you can use the dropdown menu and pick them as you please :D I hope this helps!

I switched to Feedly and actually like it better than Reader. If you are talking about going to go the next post, swipe to the left and to go to a previous post, swipe to the right.

On Feedly you can use the J key to move to the next post/article and the K key to move back to the previous one. I haven’t tried Bloglovin but it was the same on Reader so I assume they have something similar. Look for “keyboard shortcuts” or something along those lines.

I’m pretty sad about losing Google Reader, too. I had grown to love Google Reader, and sometimes change is not for the better.

I am so sad that Google reader is going away. I am trying to start using Feedly, but it just isn’t the same.

I signed up for them both as well. I can’t decide which I like better. Really, I just like Google Reader. :-)

I feel like the only person who doesn’t use any sort of reader. I have the blogs I read bookmarked on my browser and visit the actual site!

I’ve been dreading the change too. But Feedly has come a long way since they first announced it and it has a lot of customization options so i have made it look exactly like my google reader did. You can read full posts there and there is a “next” button!
