fun facts friday

October 11, 2013

1. I am now using blogging as a means to procrastinate with my grad school work. Gaaaaah – masters degree, you are so close yet so far away!

2. Not only did I get cleared to vacuum on Wednesday, but I also got cleared to resume regular exercise again. I wouldn’t be lying if I told you this made me nervous because I know I’m going to dieeeeeeee of soreness when I do. I haven’t really worked out since before I was pregnant – even a few months before that. The last time I remember going on a run was last November – although I don’t think I’m ready to run yet. The girls would definitely protest. Speaking of which – nursing mamas, sports bras? Favorite one? I need a looooot more support than I used to! Anywho… My plan is to do a Jillian Michael’s DVD this morning. If I never return, it’s because my arms are too sore to type.

3. Thankfully, I have a massage scheduled for tomorrow morning. I haven’t gotten a massage since mid August, and I am in total need right now. My back is aching from taking care of my two little love bugs. Plus, laying on my stomach was pretty much impossible up until this point. And I’m not going to lie, it’s still not completely comfortable!

4. I never really shared too many of the girls’ newborn photos. I just mailed out birth announcements last week and since everyone should have gotten theirs by now, I am able to share a couple with you. If you live in my area, message me for details on my awesome photographer. Seriously, she was the baby whisperer. I loved her and we will definitely be using her again!

IMG_2384 IMG_2404 IMG_2483 IMG_2507 IMG_2452 IMG_2421
I feel like they already look SO different!

6. I had a dream on Wednesday night that I went back to work and it was horrendous. Not the fact that I had to leave my girls at home, but like I was a horrible teacher. It was bad. So So bad.

7. Anyone else so pumped that fall TV shows are back on? This year I’m really into How I Met Your Mother, The Middle, Modern Family, Glee, and Parenthood. I have yet to catch up on Grey’s Anatomy or Nashville – but I need to! And my mom is obsessed with the new show Black List? If only I had a zillion hours in the day…

8. I cooked almost every single night this week. I felt like a rockstar.

9. I have a serious Starbuck’s addiction right now… like more so than ever before. It’s pretty bad! Plus, I’m limiting myself to decaf drinks, so I can’t just order an iced coffee because they don’t make decaf iced coffee at my location. My drink of choice lately has been an iced decaf Americano with soy and pumpkin sauce. So delicious.

10. I need to limit my Zulily and Etsy purchases pronto. #onlineshoppingaddiction

11. My goal this weekend is to take the tags off of all the girls 0-3 month clothing, wash it, and put it away. It will only be a few weeks until they are out of their newborn attire. I’m going to cry when I have to pack that all up!

12. Apparently I had a lot to say today. Enjoy your weekend!

Good luck on your workout with Jillian and enjoy your massage; you deserve it!
And the girls’ photos are absolutely adorable - I think newborn photos are some of my favorites out of pretty much all professional pictures. They have a way of making your heart melt.

They’re my favorites too - I might just hvae to have another one just for some more pictures like this! ;)

Chelsey October 11, 2013 at 6:23 am

Double up on the sport bras! I wear 2 whenever I am doing anything that involves cardio or jumping!
My baby is 9 months and I’m just now getting comfortable lying on my stomach!

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey October 12, 2013 at 7:32 pm

Yikes! I was actually pretty comfortable laying on my stomach. It probably helped that I pumped like literally a second before I left my house!

You definitely deserve that massage!
I still haven’t tried a Jillian workout video - but I always hear great things about those DVD’s. Good luck with that!
And I just can’t get enough of how gorgeous your two sweet girls are! They are just adorable.
Those tutus are killing me slightly.

I find Emerson looks like you, while you had said Brooklyn looks like her Daddy. Too cute!
Enjoy the massage, and your lovebugs ;)

Oh my god those photos are gorgeous!!! Did they sleep the whole way through? They truly are beautiful, brightened my day in an instant!!!

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey October 12, 2013 at 7:33 pm

They did! The pictures were taken when they were 13 days old, so they basically slept allll the time. But the photographer swears by her clients feeding the babies right before you leave your house to go to hers. Apparently she said it works well!

And omg, HIMYM is amazing so far. I’m so bummed that the series is almost over, but I’m loving this last season!

Reply

I am loving this season too! I actually just got into the show this past winter and watched all the seasons on Netflix. So I haven’t watched season 8, but I get the jist!

I purchased my first Moving Comfort Juno bra when I was nursing. It is not a nursing bra, but it is amazing! It keeps things right where I want them to be no matter what I am doing, circuit or running. I have a couple now and LOVE them.

Great photos! I remember washing all of the 0-3 month clothes while pregnant. I never expected to have a baby in newborn sizes - needless to say we had to rush out and get newborn clothes the first week. I just put away 9-12 month clothes & that made me sad :(

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey October 12, 2013 at 7:36 pm

Ironically enough, my mom has 4 Moving Comfort Juno bras and gave me one today. OMG, they’re ridiculous to get on and off!!! But the girls ain’t going nowhere! ;)

My mom swore up and down we wouldn’t need newborn clothes - ha! We did the same thing. We had to go get a lot more newborn size clothing!

I was organizing some of Thomas’s clothing last week and couldn’t even believe he ever fit into a newborn onesie. These little babes grow and change SO fast; it’s insane.
I keep having dreams of going back to teaching, and my entire staff hates me. No one will speak to me, and my old students also ignore me. It’s so sad!!!

I’m a c section momma too and remember how awesome, yet tough, those first workouts were. Listen to your body - as always. (Beautiful girls!)

FYI My first baby is 4 months old now and I finally figured out the sizing for baby clothes. It’s so confusing since some brands use 0-3, 3-6, etc while other brands just use 3, 6, etc. When you wash 0-3 month clothes also wash any that say 3 months. I think those sizes match up. Then when the girls move up to 3-6 they can also wear 6. Am I the only one that took 4 months to figure that out? Lol I just assumed that they wouldn’t wear size 3 months until they were 3 months old but it looks like it’s actually for babies up to 3 months- although of course the age never really matches anyways since my baby is super tiny like your girls.

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey October 12, 2013 at 7:39 pm

ha! Yeah, I have that figured out, but it is pretty confusing!

I might not be a mom, but I can speak to the need of needing a lot of support. The most supportive bra I’ve found is the Moving Comfort Juno. It’s expensive and a little difficult to navigate the putting on and taking off, but it’s the best.

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey October 12, 2013 at 7:40 pm

Right when you commented that it is difficult to take on/off, I knew that that was the sports bra my mom has! She was telling me a while ago about how difficult it is to get on and off. I asked her and she has 4 (!!!) of them. She gave me one of them today!

I definitely have the WORST online shopping addiction. I have a wish list on almost every single website. The worst is Victoria’s Secret. They have everything and more. I love the tutu picture of your girls. It’s adorable. They’ll probably kill you later in life but you might as well dress them up in cute things while you can!

Those are some of the prettiest babies I’ve ever seen, they’re gorgeous! I love how they are so different from each other :)

I don’t have any kids, but I am well-endowed up top and I run a lot so I’m always on the hunt for very supportive sports bras. So far, Moving Comfort Juno has been the best. You can get it on Amazon for a little cheaper than their website.
Those girls are just precious. I love that they are fraternal and already have different looks. Both of them are beautiful!

Aww Super photo’s, they do look Different, so Adorable!! :)

I am loving having my shows back on, and Fall in general. SPORTS BRAS WHEN NURSING ha, I typed all caps for a reason, it sounds funny, but I literally had 3 different sized champion not super thick but the cool wick that is not uber thin as my fave, I found they held my organic cotton nursing pads in better, the lansinoh and a sports bra we’re just a big no, so that’s just one opinion.

PS. I am fully caffeine free not by choice, my sbux always told me that too, but from being a barista before I know that is not the case, Any, Any, Any drink can be made decaf and kindly offer to wait for that pot of decaf you “ask” them to brew, they kind of have to, at least I did when I wanted a job in college. Yeah about 2 months ago a new woman told me no decaf is made after 1pm so I nicely told her that wasn’t happening, Hey you had two twins, go get your Starbucks! :) LOL~

I seriously cannnooot understand how baby photographers get them to be still, angelic, and perfectly positioned. Hmmmm you know what I think would be fun? if you could share with us all the things you saw the photographer do in order to get your girls like that! Hehe, just a small request pretty please? :D

Also, the ONLY sports bra I can wear now is from Lululemon. So expensive it ticks me off, but I bought two when nursing and can’t ever go back to anything else. I also didn’t work out a few months prior to getting pregnant. I stopped running to improve fertility since I was pretty lean. I was able to get back into it just fine afterwards, I just started slow and didn’t go far. I was amazed that my body seemed to remember a bit. I’m sure you will surprise yourself with how well you do; pregnancy and childbirth makes women tougher for sure. Just be sure to drink a ton of water to compensate. Nursing really took a lot out of me.

And I saw on IG that you were doing the 30DS. Love that one! I did it before I got pregnant. I never got past the first week because of my bad joints, but just the two weeks I did the first workout, I noticed a huge change in my body and endurance level! Good luck! I’m personally looking forward to/terrified of starting to seriously work out again after the baby comes! Eeek!

Congrats on being given the go-ahead to workout and resume all normal activities! I have been following you for a long time without commenting and I know that you have been off for quite a long while so I am sure this feels wonderful!

I cannot fathom doing grad school while taking care of twins! I did my Master’s (I’m also a teacher:) a couple of years ago and it is well worth it but feels like a slog at times while you are in the middle of it…I thought it was challenging working full-time and doing it, but YOU, my friend, take the cake!

Wishing you much success, much rest (as much as possible:), and much love this Canadian Thanksgiving (I am Canadian so I take the time to give thanks this weekend! Thanks for your awesome blog and sharing about your life:). Oh, and so glad you have your awesome mum to help you out, yay for mums!

Oh man, easing back into exercise was difficult! My little lady wouldn’t nap longer than 20 minutes, so I’d often carry her on the elliptical with me. Sometimes it lulled her back to sleep, sometimes not. Or I’d dance to zumba videos with her, use her in yoga poses, etc. But getting out and walking (before this killer winter hits) will be great exercise! And I hear you on the Starbucks addiction. You totally deserve a treat any time you get yourself and the little ladies out of the house! They are just too cute. LOVE the pictures!
