1. TGIF. To be perfectly honest, this week absolutely flew. I love December in fifth grade. We have so many fun things going on, and the three weeks in between Thanksgiving and Winter Break go by so quickly.
2. Do any other mamas follow “wonder weeks”? Well, we’ve been in a wonder week for about a week, and we will continue to be in one for another three. Brooklyn has been all about mommy which has made it pretty difficult to get anything done (ie: cooking dinner) if John’s not home. I resort to Mickey Mouse to get dinner on the table… a lot. Oy.
3. I’m going to this huge craft show with my cousin tomorrow (nerd alert!) and I couldn’t be more excited. We went last year, and we both got a lot of cute holiday decor!
4. In case you missed it, I shared that stuffed pepper recipe yesterday that I’ve been dangling in front of you for weeks. Ashley also noted that I need to install a pin it button so readers can easily pin recipes. I don’t nkow why I hadn’t done that earlier! It’s done, and you should be able to pin things much more easily.
5. Does anyone else live for 25 days of Christmas on ABC Family? I love all the holiday movies. While I’m typing away, I’m enjoying The Polar Express. Can’t get enough of it!!
6. The girls had their 15 month appointment on Wednesday. I seriously cannot even believe how big they’re getting. One of the questions their pediatrician asked was “If you give them a crayon, would they scribble?” My response? “Uhhhh, I have absolutely no idea.” So Wednesday afternoon, we colored.
And I spent the majority of the time saying “no no, we don’t put crayons in our mouths.” Am I crazy for not having colored with them before? I didn’t think I had to do it this young! Most of the scribbles on that page were from me – don’t be fooled.
7. I busted out the wrapping paper and got to work during one of the girls’ naps the other day. I’m going with plain brown paper with pretty ribbon this year. I love the look of it!

By the way, how do people make beautiful bows? I have no idea!
8. Does anyone want to come bake Christmas cookies for us this year? I love Christmas cookies, but I just am totally unmotivated this year to bake any. I HAVE to make buckeyes though. They’re my absolute favorite! I’m looking at you, Court!
9. Have a great weekend everyone!

this week flew for me too, thank goodness! and uhhh ask courtney to come over - apparently she made 398413897427894 cookies the other day!! haha
lol i know!!! She’s crazy!
Courtney, if you’re reading this - I’d like a dozen of everything. Thanks.
Bahahahaha - hey you all are welcome to come visit me ANYTIME and I’ll be willing to share. Bring the babies! We’ll have a huge play date
haha - rats. I thought I could snake a mail delivery out of you!
This week went by SO slowly for me. At my job, things slow down at this time of year, so there’s not much for me to do. I wish that I still worked in an elementary school, because I’m ready for winter break
.
I hear ya! One of the perks of being a teacher!
I love the ABC Family Christmas movies! I’ve watched a few on the Hallmark channel already. So cheesy but SO good!
haha I watched one on Hallmark channel on Sunday. It was so cheesy - I totally agree!
If only I could transport into your kitchen to fill it with copious amounts of cookies…sorry!
Make a batch of cocoa, put on some Holiday tunes and your baking inspiration will come. Have a super weekend.
I don’t know if it’s that I don’t want to, it’s just that I’m so tired when I actually have the time! ha!
Our weeks are flying too… I think it is because we are so dang busy! I’ve not had time to make cookies. I think no bake cookies and Chex Mix is all that I’m making this year.
PS… what are wonder weeks???
Wonder Weeks are cognitive developmental milestones for babies. They chart when babies go through some really big changes, and it coincides to their due date. Download The Wonder Weeks app - it’s pretty amazing!
My daughter is 17 months, and I just let her try out crayons the other day! Then I spent most of the time on eye-poking/crayon eating watch…
Okay, I’m glad I’m not the only one!
I think your bows look great! I’m off to check out your stuffed pepper recipe!
Thanks! I think I still need to work on them - ha!
I love the plain brown paper and colorful ribbon look! Where did you get the paper? Is it regular butcher paper, or is it wrapping paper disguised to look like butcher paper?
It’s from Target - I got it by the packing materials. It’s Scotch brand - it was only $5 for a huge roll!
Nice work on the gifts, my dear! And I loooooove me some holiday movies!! Bring on ALL THE CHRISTMAS!
Agreed!
Love the brown paper with a colored bow look. I have never mastered a pretty bow. I’m thinking YouTube would have some tutorials.
I’m thinking you’re right! I’ll have to search!
Ok, I LOVE the brown paper and ribbon look but where do you find the paper? I wanted to do that but I’m lost trying to find simple wrapping paper.
Target! It was by the packing materials.
I tend to make a new bow each Chirstmas and this year I am going for the over the top pom pom bow which turns out is quite easy to make. Here is a tutorial I found http://www.bhg.com/christmas/gift-wrapping/how-to-make-a-pom-pom-bow/
And another thought- I’m thinking my girls definitely need a box of crayons for Christmas, can’t believe I didn’t think of that either!
Thanks!
They are pretty bows!!! Anything prettier is shop bought..or people clearly have too much time on their hands!
haha - I don’t have the time! I guess I’ll just stick with my simple bows.
“On Wednesdays, we color.”
Sorry, I couldn’t help myself
Bahaha - I almost wrote that but was wondering if anyone would have rolled their eyes. Glad we are on the same page!
I was just reading your post on my phone and Hunter came up to me to look, saw your photo on the sidebar, and said, “Mama!”. Haha, I had to laugh and share that with you! Love your gifts with the brown paper and pretty bows!
I love the look of the brown paper and colored ribbon! This may be a super obvious question, but I’ve never even looked for it before - do they sell brown paper wrapping by other wrapping paper? Or is it from more of a craft store or something?
It’s Scotch brown packing paper - I got it at Target in the mailing/packing section.
When I was in high school I wrapped gifts at a retail store during the holidays. We would take the ribbon and loop it back and forth in our hand (not around and around) until there are several layers. Then fold it in half, snip a tiny triangle from each side of the bottom, and tie a small piece of ribbon tightly around it at that spot to secure. Then you fluff out all the loops into a big ole bow! It was really easy (but obviously hard to explain with just text).
I think yours look lovely though!
Yikes! I will ahve to look for a video!
Somehow I had forgotten about Christmas movies on ABC Family… awful, I know! Thanks for the reminder! And yay for craft shows. I used to LOVE going to them with my mom when I was younger.
