4:11 AM - Roll over and look at the clock. Woohoo! After what seemed like forever (okay, like 5 days), I finally got a solid chunk of sleep. Between the girls teething and the husband coughing, I hadn’t slept well in days.
5:10 AM - Alarm clock goes off. Snooze.
5:18 AM - Alarm clock goes off again. Snooze.
5:23 AM - My other alarm goes off. Get myself out of bed.
5:25 AM - Hop out of bed and jump into the shower. I don’t have to wash my hair today (I’m an every other day kind of girl), so getting ready is quite quick today.
5:40 AM - While putting on my makeup, I hear Emerson rustling around. She’s quietly babbling to herself and not at all upset, so I leave her to see if she falls back asleep.
5:50 AM - Make my way out to the kitchen and make some breakfast. Today I have something a little new to me in the breakfast world… little breakfast tacos! Eggs, spinach, and a little cheese in corn tortillas and topped with Siracha. My coffee tastes funny with this combination.
6:10 AM - Emerson is not going back to sleep, so I head into her room to grab her. Brooklyn is still OUT. Thank God, too, because she only napped for an hour the day before. Emerson wants to get down immediately, and she runs to her sister’s crib and starts shrieking. Thankfully she doesn’t wake up Brooklyn, and I bring her to the living room for some milk.
6:15 Emerson is set up in the living room with her milk and a Bubble Guppies episode while I continue getting ready. I pack my lunch, clean up from my breakfast, and get my clothes together.
6:25 AM - My mother in law arrives, and we chat for a few minutes before I get dressed and really finish getting ready.
6:35 AM - I hear Brooklyn cry out, so I know she’s ready to get up. She wants her daddy this morning, and she is NOT afraid to tell me so!
6:40 AM - After some quick kisses and goodbyes, I’m out the door!
6:50 AM - Swing into Starbucks for my coffee… is it sad that my baristas know my drink order by now? (just a coffee with a pump of pumpkin and some soy) The other day they asked me what I was going to do when they ran out of pumpkin. I said I was going to cry. He told me February 8 was the day. Sad story.
6:55 AM - Turn on a podcast to listen to on my way to work. Now that I’m done with Serial, I’ve looked into other shows, and I REALLY enjoy the podcast "Stuff You Missed in History Class". They are SO interesting! On my drive I finish up a podcast about Jewish folks being expelled from Spain in 1492 - crazy!
7:25 AM - Pull into the school’s parking lot and trudge inside. It’s a delayed start for the kids, and I have a meeting until 9 this morning.
9:15 AM - School starts for the kids. We hustle to get them to their special, and I grab a snack.
11:00 AM - Lunch time! Today was leftover spaghetti squash, meatballs, and marinara sauce. I mixed up our meal plan a bit this week depending on what we (okay what I) was in the mood for that day.
12:05 PM - Teach teach teach!
3:05 PM - Chat with some coworkers and start to wrap up a few things when the Husband calls me. Apparently Emerson gouged my mother in law’s eye earlier in the day, and she needed to go to the eye doctor. Ouch! I quickly packed up so that I could make it home in time for her to get to her appointment.
4:00 PM – Walk through the door without a moment to spare. Apparently everyone on the southwest side of Chicago decided they couldn’t drive this afternoon. Of course! 😉
4:15 PM – Play with the girls. They’re quiiiite cranky this afternoon as they didn’t take an afternoon nap again, but we power through.
4:45 PM – I get out the vacuum and the girls follow along as I go throughout the house.
5:00 PM – Brooklyn is having one meltdown after another. It would be one thing if she wanted to be near me when she has them, but she likes to go be by herself and cry. I feel terrible for her, so I scoop her up and put on her favorite. You guessed it – Frozen!
5:10 PM – I start making an early dinner for the girls so we can get them to bed a little early.
5:25 PM – Quesadilla, black beans, corn, and avocado are on the menu for the girls tonight! The husband straps them into their chairs while I retreat to our bedroom to squeeze in a quick workout. Tonight I do this workout from Fitness Blender.
just keeping it real! old t-shirt, crazy hair, and a messy bed!
6:00 PM – The girls are finishing up dinner, but they still seem hungry so I give them some fruit and raisins while I wash a few dishes.
6:10 PM – After their teeth get brushed, we head to the bathroom for some tubby time!
6:40 PM – We’ve made it through hair combing with minimal screaming, so I call that a success. We read 10 Tiny Tadpole (a favorite!), and put the girls to bed. They are out within seconds.
6:45 PM – I stick potato wedges into the oven for my dinner and start on a salad. After the potatoes are flipped, I hop in the shower before they get done!
7:15 PM – I sit down to dinner, pull up this post, and get to work. I read, eat dinner, scroll through Facebook. It probably takes much longer than it would have otherwise!
7:37 PM – Done and done! Shut the computer for the night (I went back and wrote this last.)
7:39 PM – Grab some dark chocolate and hit the couch for my favorite Wednesday night shows, The Middle and Modern Family!
8:30 PM – Hop into bed for some reading until my eyes can’t handle it anymore. I’m currently reading Little Big Lies after seeing so many people love it!
9:30/10:00 PM – Nighty night!
