Happy Monday everyone! I am so excited to share this morning’s post with you. Last week I told you all that I would be sharing more about DietBet today – and I hope a lot of you are interested in joining the game!

First and foremost, here is how a DietBet works….

  • You pay $25 to be a part of the challenge
  • Over the course of 4 weeks, you challenge yourself to lose 4% of your body weight.
  • At the end of the 4 weeks, if you have reached your goal – Wahoo!!!! You won! You split the pot with the other winners in the challenge.
  • While this is a fun & healthy competition, the more people that join, the bigger the pot grows, and the more that you can win!

Last year I did a DietBet that Courtney had run, and it was so much fun! Not only was it a great motivator, but the people who joined the game became a community of sorts and really encouraged one another and asked for advice/help along the way. It was awesome!

When you pay for the challenge, you pay with a credit card or a PayPal account, and after the bet is over, your winnings are paid back through your PayPal account. Cha-ching!

Once I signed up last year, I was a little confused on how it all worked… how did the people at DietBet know if others were being truthful with weigh ins? It is truly done without cheating, and here’s how!

All you need is a camera, a scale, and a full length mirror (or someone who can take your picture of you on the scale). One to two days before the challenge starts, you will get an email through the account you signed up with, and you will take two pictures, both with a code that will be emailed to you. With the code, there is no way people can submit an old picture, and the DietBet staff will be able to judge whether or not the pictures are legitimate.

My bet starts Tuesday, February 3rd (giving you time to still indulge in all those yummy treats on Super Bowl Sunday! ;) ), and if you are interested CLICK HERE.

I think this is going to be a great way for us all to achieve our goals. In my case, I’ve been living in leggings for the last month or so. While I don’t regret decisions made, I definitely ate my fair share of indulgences over the holidays… and then some. I find myself less and less motivated to get a good workout in, and I’m hoping this serves as some motivation to help me reach my goals – and YOURS! While losing the 4% of my body weight will not be the end all be all throughout the next four weeks, making healthy choices and knowing that there is a prize in mind will be!

Last year when I played, I found the DietBet app, as well as tracking exercise & some nutrition (because do we really think about all those handfuls of M&M’s during the day? So unnecessary! Ha!) on My Fitness Pal super helpful along the way.

Count me in!!! I’ve been wanting to do a diet bet, but the large ones (Jillian M and Beach Body) are too impersonal. I prefer to do this with a group of “real” people-some that I “know”. Can’t wait! Maybe this will get my last few lbs of the twin weight off!

and PS - that was exactly why I joined a game last January. It helped me lose some of the twin weight as well as motivate me/get back into a good fitness routine!

I will definitely be joining… I’m fine on the workout motivation part, but not on the eating part sometimes… This sounds like a relatively low pressure kick in the pants that I need!
