1. Oh my, you guys – it’s been quite a week. Brooklyn came down with a fever Monday evening and it lasted until yesterday. She slept horribly (okay – she barely slept) at night, and it was downright miserable. It was worse than newborn sleep. So so much worse. Did you know that with twins it’s inevitable that when one gets sick, the other one will too? Yup, Miss Emerson came down with a fever yesterday. Oy.
2. I’m so glad so many of you were interested in my Rodan+Fields giveaway! The winner was Christie Blake! Congrats Christie – I have emailed you!
3. I just realized yesterday that I never posted my meals for the week this Sunday! It completely slipped my mind. I’ll make sure to do that for you all this weekend. This week has been a hodgepodge of meals – Chicken Taco Chili was on the menu last night, and earlier this week we had a sausage, pepper, and potato meal that I am in love with and want to make just about every day right now!
4. The other morning after a particularly long night with B, I added a shot of espresso to my venti iced coffee. The sad part? I didn’t even notice any extra caffeine in my system. File that one under “you know you’re addicted to caffeine when…”.
5. While most days I try to get as many steps as I possibly can (love that FitBit!), yesterday my grand total was under 4,000. With sick kids, I took the day off and my mom came over and let me rest for a long while before I took over baby duty. By the way, I don’t know what you parents do who have their kids in daycare when they get sick. If I didn’t have family taking care of these girls, I would have had to take off four days of work this week. That is absolutely insane!
6. Anyone else have the holiday off on Monday? This week was supposed to be my only full week of work in February (some of those weeks were due to weather – other weeks were due to institute days). I feel like February is flying by, and I can’t even believe that March is only a few weeks away. Oh spring… you’re so close, but really you’re still pretty far away.
7. What a bummer – no pictures today!
8. I’m having a hard time thinking of anything else – my brain is fried from this week! Have a great long weekend everyone!

poor babies!! sick babies are the worst and so is not sleep - for anyone! william has been sleeping horribly - not sure if it’s because he’s congested or teething or a combination but every time i put him back in his crib he wakes up and cries!! he’s fine when i’m holding him… OF COURSE!!!
That’s the worst! I had to show Brooklyn some tough love last night. She had been without a fever all day, but going to bed was disastrous. She thought that partying with mommy all night was a new thing, and it took her about 75 minutes to fa asleep - 40 of which were spent crying. Ugh. She’s the type of kid that gets more worked up when you go to check on her too but I wanted to make sure nothing else was wrong. So every time I went in there she got more mad!’
i can’t show william tough love…. he barfs… literally. monday night it took him TWO hours to get to sleep and he still wasn’t sleeping. i needed a break so i put him in his crib and let him cry for literally two minutes while i stood outside his door and took deep breaths. and then i heard him puke. cue freak out. my mom came over to help because i was seriously in need!
Ah! Yes, I did read that yesterday poor baby! You’re lucky you have a good mama who comes over to help!
Aww I hope they both feel better! Just in time for the weekend
I have Monday off and I’m so excited!!
How did you choose which fit bit to get? do you love the one you chose? Im thinking of getting one : )
I got the flex. I only want/need it for tracking activity, and it’s the smallest band.
Oh no!! Poor sick babies (and poor mama)! I hope everyone feels better soon!
I am truly so sorry! One sick baby is bad, but two… I hope they both start feeling better soon! I had my 1 year old in day care until about two months ago when we decided I would stay at home and the LAST WEEK I was in the office she had a fever for 4 days! I had to take off (we don’t have family in town and my husband can’t take off easily) and it was crazy! So my last week of work I was only in the office one day. Keep your head up momma- you’re doing a great job and those babies will get better soon!
Ugh those poor babies. Thinking of you this week! The coffee addiction just means you need to add TWO shots of expresso
Poor babies! And poor you! I hope you’re able to get some rest soon. Balancing sick kids with work is REALLY hard. My daughter goes to daycare and we don’t have family who can take care of her, so sometimes, I am hard pressed to make my 5 sick days per year stretch. I’ve been guilty of sending her sick and dosed with Tylenol if it’s something mild (don’t side-eye me, we all do it!) It’s tough. With TWINS, I can’t imagine. Thank goodness for family!
We have a holiday here in Ontario on Monday, for Family Day, which I am really looking forward to. Always nice to have a holiday
Nothing worse than a sick kiddo! It’s HARD to work full time and have a baby in daycare, especially when they’re sick! We are lucky and have family that can oftentimes bail us out when our daughter gets sick. But otherwise my husband and I trade off days when we need to stay home with her - and we give ourselves a good PTO cushion to do so!
Poor girls. I hope they get better soon! I also hope that you don’t end up with their sickness since that Is normally what happens to moms that get run down from taking care of their babies! Make sure you are taking care of yourself and getting some rest…luckily it is the weekend!
If I take off work, I get wayyyyy less steps in…it actually is one of the first things that I think about if I know I am going to need to call off…#sickmind!
Chelsey - there is a reason why I quit my teaching job! You know how it goes with twins, one gets sick, the other gets sick on the tail end and you end up with at least one sick kid for 4+ days. I took unpaid days last year and my kids got sent home from daycare a few times. One time my husband changed his schedule so that he could work at night and he dropped a sick Jack off to my classroom with 15 minutes left of school so that we could avoid taking unpaid days. This year alone, I can count 3+ weeks that I would have had to take off and Lord knows I had NO sick days…. ugh! Hopefully the little ladies are feeling better!!!!!! Sick kid sucks, sick twins sucks the worst
Poor babies! Sending lots of prayers & healthy vibes your way. It’s never easy to watch your little ones suffer. Our girls cold that I thought was gone has decided to reappear last night.
I know that it’s inevitable that the other twin will get the illness, but I still try to keep their nasal saline and bulb separate. My husband, however, pretends he can’t read their initials on the bottles and bulb. I guess it’s not really a big deal because they will swap germs, but it does bother me.
We did have one tummy illness that got my son (and me and my husband) but not my daughter. I was holding my breath on that one! We fed her as though she had the same tummy illness (with bland foods), but I am happy to say that she got through relatively unscathed. Instead she caught a cold that needed nebulizer treatment!
It’s really hard with daycare and working full time, but I feel fortunate to have an employer that is extremely family friendly and that doesn’t force me to take sick days. I can “work from home.” (We don’t have family close enough or who don’t work that can get them during the day.) My husband’s job is flexible too. But when daycare’s phone number comes up my heart skips a beat every time! Ugh!
