around the house survey

February 19, 2015

Well, it was a little silent around these parts yesterday - sorry about that! We had quite a day on Tuesday once I got home from work, so there was no time to get a post together and up for yesterday.

How was it quite a day? Let’s talk toddler tantrums, people. Holy cow. Emerson had quite a fit all afternoon - we’re talking throwing toys, pushing her sister, throwing herself down on the floor and screaming… yikes. It was intense. Those toddlers - man oh man! There was definitely something underlying that was going on (maybe molars?) because that is NOT like her to act that way. She’s a bruiser, but she isn’t usually like that. After the girls were finally in bed for the night, I had a hair appointment with my sister in law and didn’t get back home until after 10. Sleep won after that. 😉

Last night was a little more low key, thank goodness. I was going to go to the gym, but instead I settled onto the couch to watch two of my favorite shows – The Middle and Modern Family!

For today, I have been seeing this fun survey around the blogosphere lately, so I thought I would participate. I’m a sucker for surveys - enjoy!

Household chore I actually enjoy: I love to vacuum. Like, LOVE. If I had time, I would probably vacuum every single day. You might remember that when I was pregnant, I was put on a "no vacuuming" restriction when I was 26 weeks pregnant (or maybe I’m the only one who remembers this - ha!). It was torturous. Once I was cleared for normal activity after my six week post partum check up, the first thing I did when I got home was vacuum. It’s a sickness, people. I even took a picture to document.

Biggest house disaster: Our closets. I have given up on organizing them. I feel like we have so much stuff we need to cram into them, and I can never find a way to organize everything that works. We’re pretty close to moving (okay, if you call sometime this year pretty close), and I am not about to tack on that project now. Instead, right now I just try to shut the doors and pretend like there’s not a disaster behind them.

Before company arrives, I hide: This has to be either the many toys that are constantly strewn about my house or my bathroom that constantly has laundry all over it. One of the downsides of our house is that our bathroom is also our laundry room, and we constantly have dirty laundry sorted on the floor. #notafan

Most recent music download: I can’t say that I have downloaded music lately! The last thing I downloaded was Taylor Swift’s 1989 album way back in October.

The last thing I bought online: Minnie Mouse towels for the girls’ bathtime! Their infant hooded towels were becoming obviously too small for them, so I bought them new toddler ones, and they’re so stinking adorable.

I hate to shop for: jeans. Ugh, it’s the worst. is it just me or do all jeans fit differently? Why can’t they all just fit the same?

Favorite Family Ritual: Right now I love getting the girls ready for bed, especially on bath nights. After dinner, I get the tub ready while John gets them cleaned up from dinner and their teeth brushed. Then, the girls come RUNNING as soon as they hear that water. They absolutely love bath time. After bath time, I typically dry their hair so they won’t go to bed with it wet, and we read stories on the couch. The girls give each other some sugar (the only kiss we can ever count on Brooklyn giving is one to her sister before bed), and it’s off to bed!

I sleep in: sweatpants and a shirt during the winter and shorts/tank top in the summer!

I have a style crush on: ummm – no one, really! I have a pretty casual style.

I’m currently reading: two things! I’m currently listening to Jane Eyre, and I’m currently reading Wreckage. Both are really good. I’m actually surprised I am enjoying Jane Eyre as much as I am. It’s much different to read a classic than it is to listen to one. That Jane is one passionate and obstinate girl!

What’s up with the ____________ trend? Liquid Detoxes! I have never understood detoxes. I understand cleaning up your diet and resetting your taste buds - I have actually had to do that recently (let’s talk about my ridiculous chocolate addiction). I just don’t get the whole "only drinking your food" for days at a time thing. It just doesn’t make sense to me. I like to chew I guess!

How did I ever live without? My Keurig K Cup. I inherited this from my dad a few years ago, and it sat on my counter for a while before I realized what I was missing. Now I drink at least a cup from it a day. You guys know how much I love my coffee!

Now it’s your turn - pick a question and answer it in the comments!
