scenes from the weekend (3.6-3.8)

March 9, 2015

Happy Monday everyone! I don’t know about you, but this weekend brought a definite shift in weather. I think spring is finally on the way!

Friday

Friday night was a good time! While I didn’t take any pictures of our night out, it was such a fun time. We went out with two other couples we are good friends with, and it’s always a blast! We went to PF Chang’s, and the good food (and delicious sangria!) was flowing! We sat around and talked for almost 3 hours, but it was still before 10 by the time we got home and in bed. #winwin!

Saturday

Saturday started early with Emerson waking up around 4:30. Her teething I was complaining about on Friday was actually a double ear infection. If she didn’t have that tube in her right ear, I probably would not have figured it out for a while! Ears that have tubes in them drain if they are infected, and it was not a pretty sight. Her medicine hadn’t kicked in yet, so she was still feeling some pressure when she tried to lay down flat. We successfully fell back asleep together and slept until after 7 – woohoo! Talk about a Saturday morning treat.

After Brooklyn woke up, we didn’t waste much time because we had to be out the door by 9 AM to get to our 18 month photo session. Our photographer must be superwoman because taking pictures of one 18 month old is a challenge, but two 18 month olds is near impossible. I can’t wait to see the pictures!

After I ran a few errands with my mom before coming back to the house so the girls could take their naps (we are finally down to one nap!).

After they woke up, we hit up the grocery store for our weekly haul, said hello to Uncle Matthew (my brother is a manager at the store), and came home to make breakfast for dinner – one of our favorites!

After the girls went to bed, I made turkey chili to bring to my mom’s house the next day, and then we settled down on the couch to watch Mockingjay. While I saw it in theaters back in November, John still hadn’t seen the movie, and I knew he would love it. Unfortunately I fell asleep about 45 minutes through and woke up for the last 15 minutes. Whoops! I was right though, John loved it.

Sunday

Oy – whoever thought of Daylight Saving was a cruel person who did not care about the sleep of parents. 😉 Emerson woke up early again – and this time she wouldn’t go back to sleep. We finally got out of bed at 6 (which was “really” 5), and we hung out for a while. We had to wake B and John up a little before 8 so we could get to church on time!

After church, we headed to my mom’s for our monthly get together.

This month it was all about soups/chili’s! We had more than enough good food to choose from, but the girls enjoyed the desserts the most – chocolate cake, anyone?

Unfortunately the girls didn’t take a good nap on Sunday, so an early bed time was in the cards for them. Even though 6:30 was “really” 5:30 (I promise after yesterday I don’t compare actual time with times before daylight savings”), Emerson was asleep within minutes. Party Girl had other plans though and played around for almost an hour even though she was EXHAUSTED. That girl, I swear! 😉

I am so looking forward to this week – we have a few consecutive days in the upper 50’s, and next Monday is supposed to be 60! Come on spring!

Have a great day, everyone!
