Unfortunately due to measures beyond my control, I only have a picture of my breakfast today. Don’t even be surprised when you see this – it is a definite repeat of yesterday (and every other day of my life lately). Yesterday it seemed so much cooler in a mason jar. It tasted delicious nonetheless.
1/3 cup oats, 1/3 cup water, 1/3 cup almond milk, 1 tbsp flax, 1/3 cup pumpkin, 1/2 banana – topped with cinnamon, cranberries, apple, & PB
I just can’t get enough of this stuff.
So, onto why I only have pictures of my breakfast….
Today started off like any normal day.
I woke up at 4:30, went and got my workout on, and came home to get ready for work.
There was no traffic on the way to work this morning – a feat I like to celebrate about.
My kids were also very chatty and excited today – for it was field trip day! Every fall, the fifth grade goes to Brookfield Zoo. The weather is always beautiful, the leaves are changing colors, and it a nice break to the normal day. However, there’s something you should know about me + field trips. They make me nervous. Very nervous. Being responsible to 20+ kids in an open area… well, it’s very nerve wracking. Needless to say I was a little jittery.
It was going really well until we got to the new bear exhibit. I had my camera out and was taking pictures of the surroundings and the kids. I was standing near the railing when the most horrible thing ever happened. One of my students was horsing around and accidently bumped into me. Unfortunately, I was not wearing my camera safety strap and my camera went flying. When in doubt, always wear a safety strap. If not, your camera may end up getting lost in the bear cage like mine. Lesson learned.
********************************************************************
Okay, that is totally a lie.
That didn’t happen.
I didn’t go on a field trip today.
But, I promise I do get jittery on field trips.
I just wanted to entertain you all by distracting you from the fact that instead of making the dinner I was planning on, I went furniture shopping.
I may or may not have also gone to Chipotle.
It was all worth the lies.
Question: Have you ever told a lie to cover up something you didn’t want to admit?

I was reading your post yesterday and thinking: “Where are the apples?” I’m glad to see some, here. Will we be seeing more of them post-pumpkin?
Oh, apples always happen - pumpkin or not.. maybe just not in oats.
Hahaha if I don’t feel like making dinner, Chipotle is probably my favorite dinner out ever!
Hi Chelsey! I just found your blog and I’m so glad I did! One look at your delicious bowl of oats and I knew it was destiny.
Have a good evening!
It had to be fate! However, I apologize for the horrible lighting - 6 AM is dark.
Girl you seriously had me going there! I was like OMG that is the most horrible thing…haha! I can understand why they make you nervous. I don’t have to go on field trips with a class of my own, but I do go with my kids. For some reason I always end up with more kiddos in my group than the other parents……guess that’s cuz they know I work in the school system! Oh well. Hope you had fun furniture shopping, find anything nice?
Found a few great pieces! One was in stock and we got to bring it home - I’ll put up pictures tomorrow! It’s beautiful!
I really would have believed you…made for a good story
I totally believed you! And I think field trips are terrifying…I can barely keep an eye on my own kid, nevermind 25 of her friends.
I lie to Maya all the time - No Maya, I didn’t eat the chocolate. YOU finished it. LOL!
I totally support lying to your children!
I had my hand to my mouth and was shaking my head - totally gullible. I’m glad your camera didn’t get attacked!
What did you get what did you get? I love home decor. Can’t wait to see your next post with updates!
It’s okay - I am the queen of gullible. My h usband makes fun of me all the time.
Isn’t it funny how a person can get so excited over something as silly as a clear lane of no traffic?
I liked the bear cage story. It’s way better than how a few of my cameras have hit the dust (I was drinking and accidently dropped it and my camera practically shattered). I’d stick with it… :p
And there’s no shame in Chipotle (even though I prefer Southwestern Moe’s- I won’t judge!).
I won’t judge you on liking Moe’s (I’ve never been a fan!). I too have had the typical camera breaking happen as well… no worries, my camera is still going strong (even though I’m hoping the Husband will read this and get me a DSLR for Christmas!)
Haha that was awesome. Embrace Chipotle.
Thanks for the amusing story, made me smile this morninn
What new furniture did you get? Anything fun?
ha if that had been true, would have been SO horrible. I would not have minded hearing about Chipotle though! I love that place!
i was about to feel horrible that you lost your camera like that.. but thaaat was the coolest lie i’ve ever read.
ooh I hope you got some fun things furniture shopping!
That was funny! I used to teach Kindergaarten in Istanbul, Turkey and on our first day we were reminded that children organs are sold for BIG BUCKS on the black market…so do keep them safe! Um WHAT!?
Looove chipotle! And breakfast is the best meal of the day anyway
Haha I totally believed your bear story! I guess I’m just super gullible.
Ohhh I’ve told many a lie to cover up the truth. And it never, ever ends well. Now I keep my lies to harmless “exaggerations” when I tell ridiculous stories in social situations…because really, they’re so much funnier that way
Hope you’re having a great week!
