the reason the Husband will never leave me

October 21, 2010

There are those moments in every wife’s life where she may wonder if her husband will love her forever. Or, if you are anything like me, you may wonder if your husband will put up with you forever. I can tell you I certainly know my husband will never leave me.

I have a secret weapon.

It is a powerful tool for every wife to have.

However, there are many reasons why my husband could consider hitting the road. Let us examine some evidence:

1. The motto in our home (at least in my mind) is “Happy wife, happy life”. No explanation is needed with this one. What man wants to follow this rule? No man does.

2. The Husband may be questioning my love for him as my pumpkin infatuation has gotten more serious throughout this fall season. In fact, I firmly believe 95% of all food bloggers will be found in pumpkin rehab next spring. We better book our rooms now.

3. If the Husband ever finds out about the daily flax incident, there could be reason for discussion.

4. In the last two weeks, I have had approximately 3 baking flops — all with baking bread… in a bread machine. All three times my loaf did not rise. All three times the Husband was required to eat the bread — without complaining.

5. We have a house rule that whoever gets out of bed last makes the bed. Almost all of the time, the Husband is last to rise. Sometimes the Husband doesn’t make the bed. Unfortunately for him, I have a thing about getting into an unmade bed. I am a stickler on rules (hello, teacher.) — many times the Husband makes the bed at 9 p.m. — and not because he wants to.

6. Meat Slop. Enough said.

7. My mom taught me the art of guilt tripping. While it may not work on my father, it sure does work on the Husband. Whether it genuinely works or the Husband just wants to shut me up is a different story.

8. The husband hates sweet potatoes. Guess what was for dinner tonight?

As you can see, there are many reasons why my Husband could be willing tempted to leave me at some point in our life. Perhaps because it will probably only get worse.

I hold the key to any successful marriage though.

It’s all about the cookies. And no, these are not vegan and gluten free babies. We’re talking white sugar, 1 cup of butter, chocolate chips and my Kitchen Aid mixer workin’ hard for the money every week (or more).

These cookies set my Husband into a coma every night. The success they keep continuing to bring to my marriage is unbelievable.

I’m hoping one day the Husband will consume enough of said cookies to take me on a shopping spree, a Jamaican vacation, and perhaps buy me a DSLR.

Cross your fingers for me, but I think I’m going to have to double up on the chocolate chips for the last one.

Question: Do you have a “secret weapon”? (For ANYONE, not just husbands!)

This post was brilliant! I’m sure my husband would leave me for many reasons, too. But I think he was afraid I would leave HIM tonight though becaaaaause he lost OUR camera…I repeat, our camera! So yes, I was a bit/very unsettled over this.

I’d say my secret weapon is anything that involves southern (anything slathered in bbq sauce or has to do with pulled pork). I think our cooking it what keeps them around. I think he owes me some secret weapon food until that camera’s found though lol

Seems like my hubby and yours are the same kind of breed ;) My hubby will do almost ANYTHING for fresh chocolate chip cookies. Its really quite sad. I can bake a plateful (and by plateful I mean 2 dozen) and he will eat 9 in one sitting EASILY. It actually kind of makes me sick. But, at least there isnt a lot for me to eat that way ;)

We have the same general rule about bed making, which means it is always my husband’s job!
My husband also does all the dishes…I cook, he clean, it’s a pretty sweet deal.

The way to my husbands heart is through food…any kind really…cookies do work wonders :)

A cleaning husband? Lucky lady! :) Actually, I prefer to do the cleaning around here as long as he takes care of the bills and outside work!

Mmm chocolate chip cookies! They are definitely the way to get anyone, including me, to do things. Send me some and I’ll get you the camera :)

You don’t even want to joke around about that Allie… because you know I would.

Hehe cookies are the way to a man’s heart, eh? Your husband sounds like an amazing guy! I like getting into a made bed also! I can’t leave the house in the morning unless it’s made (half made if I know there’s a definite nap in my future).

Thank goodness for canned pumpkin/bnut squash/sweet potato to combat spring when it comes. If it goes on sale in the spring I’ll find my pantry FULL of it! :D But yes, book me a room too. Next to yours? lol
Have a great weekend! xoxo

That is why they are not vegan.

People always say that men aren’t as interested in chocolate as women, but I beg to differ.

Maybe I should make these cookies…my husband doesn’t seem to have any problem making empty threats to take off…not that I’d stop him or anything. Totally kidding! Sort of.

Anyway, these look fabulous. I might make a batch for myself and deal with the gluten- stomach ache. :)

I’m a firm believer in “happy wife, happy life.” Luckily I also bake my hubby’s faves so he can forgive this motto!

Haha, baking is my secret weapon when it comes to the boy as well!! His mom is an amazing vegan cook, so I know he secretly loves my vegan desserts :)

How lucky for you when you go there to eat!! I’d be going at least 1-2 times per week, no matter what the journey might be!! :)
