I think as I’m getting older, I’m beginning to become luckier.
I’m starting to “suck the luck out of the room”.
I won a poinsettia last night! Don’t laugh at me being excited about this. From the time I was younger, I never won ANYTHING! I vividly remember my sister being picked to go on stage at a Nickelodeon interactive performance we went to at the Rialto Theatre all because we had agreed we would switch seats at intermission to be fair (the guy in front of her had a really big noggin). That so would have been my seat.
So, with every giveaway I win, my mouth hangs open in disbelief because I’m not a lucky person. Last night when I won the poinsettia at my staff’s holiday party, I think I let out a “woohoo”!
My luck is continuing too…. pancakes anyone?
Using this recipe (sprinkled with coconut because it’s supposed to SNOW again today!)
They were just what I wanted this morning — and I even have two left over because I made the recipe for more (See? Luck!).
Don’t judge me for licking the plate.
It seriously happened. I don’t mess around about plate licking. Maybe I’ll add “superstitious” to my character traits — if you lick your plate, it means you’ll have luck?
I didn’t think so either.
Question: Are you a lucky person?

I too licked my plate after I finished my GF pumpkin pancakes this morning. It is necessary to get every little last bit off of the plate
No judging here!
Man, we were on the same wavelength this morning!
I literally lick every single plate, bowl, spoon, fork, finger.. or any other eating utensil! do not be ashamed-! the only problem is when I’m eating around others and totally forget.. which results in me licking my plate like a mad dog with blank, staring eyes RIGHT BACK AT meeee!
AHAHAHA! Hilarious - at least the husband was still sleeping.
It goes up and down for me. With contests, I almost never enter because I so rarely win anything.
I don’t really think I’m lucky, but I have been winning a good amount of giveaways lately (including yours!) so maybe the tide is turning?
Let’s cross our fingers!
I’m not lucky… but looking back, though I haven’t won things I sure have gotten out of some sticky situations quite well due to nothing other than pure luck. phew! gotta love that!
I can’t wait til my pancake maker…er.. husband gets home so I can stuff some fluffy pancakes in my face. yum!
xoXOxo
Congrats on your luck!
I feel the same way - never win anything and then randomly when I do win, I am astonished! However, last year I hit the JACKPOT, and I will probably never be lucky again because I used it all up in 2009. I won a cookbook off a blog giveaway, and then I won a complete set of Le Creuset cookware!!! No, I’m not kidding - a complete set in flame orange. I entered a random giveaway sponsored by the movie Julie and Julia, and that’s what I won. Beyond ecstatic on that one, and like I said, I probably used up my whole lifetime amount of luck. *Totally worth it!
Your pancakes look awesome - I had pumpkin persimmon oatmeal for breakfast - so warming and delicious. Enjoy your snow day! We’re just getting a lot of rain here in West TN!
I never win anything either and I’m sure I’d have made a fool of myself with that pointsetta. CONGRATS!!
I’m a plate licker too. My dad has done it since I was a kid, and it pisses my mom off to no end. I used to think it was weird, but now I’m beginning to think my dad had the right idea the whole time. Compliments to the chef!
I don’t think I’m overly lucky or unlucky. Middle of the road I guess.
I’m lucky with small things like a GC to Sbux, but hey I’ll take any luck I can get =)
I always lick my plate ha!! You are getting luckier….so have I. Lately, I have been winning all sorts of blog giveaways. Your pancakes look absolutely amazing!
We must be in sync right now because I have had the same great stroke of luck. I, like you, have NEVER been picked for anything or won anything before. I usually don’t even bother listening to the door prizes and the winning numbers being called because I was never among those “lucky” people. Buuuuuut, in the last week, I’ve won a photo giveaway from HEAB and an ipad at my husbands Christmas party!!
I can get used to this
okay an iPad beats a poinsettia any day.
MMMM those pancakes look so YUMMY
And im so happy for you that you are winning things. I never win anything either so I know everytime I win I get so excited.
I’m super unlucky… I don’t think I’ve ever won a contest or anything exciting. Maybe some of your good luck will rub off onto me?
Rub away!
Ahh I never win anything. Can I borrow some luck because I’d be happy to win a poinsettia. Yummmm, pancakes!
I must admit…I get realy lucky with rock-star parking spaces.
Aw, man. Did I just jinx it?
~Missy
PS- 14 more days till REBEL!! …um, I mean Christmas.
You just made my day!
I wouldn’t say that I am an overly lucky person.
I have lots of good things in my life and lots of
good thing happen to me, but when it comes to
winning things for free; not so much.
My Dad on the other hand, that’s a different story!
He wins EVERYTHING! I might be a little jealous
Plate licking = my favorite. Except for last night. I went to lick my plate clean of stir-fry sauce and it was way too strong tasting. At least I tried though.
I’m not really a lucky person.. but then again, I read that if you think you’re lucky, you’ll end up being luckier. So maybe I’m going start believing that I’m the luckiest person ever and in return I WILL become the luckiest person ever. Trippy.
Oooo the power of positive thinking!
Not lucky at all! Licker, on the other hand? Yes indeed!
