Houston, we have a problem.

December 19, 2010

Okay, we have more than a problem. We have multiple problems.

Problem #1: It wasn’t enough that I owned up to be persnickety as a person. My blog had to go and call me names. What THE heck. (Thanks Missy for pointing this out!)

Problem #2: There was once a day when I JOKED around about buying “tap on” lights to put above the kitchen sink while waiting for can lights.

I don’t think the Husband understood the JOKE part of my statement. When I came home from Costco with Mommasita to see these installed above my kitchen sink, I about flipped my lid. It wasn’t pretty. The mother can definitely vouch for me on that one.

You may think I’m overreacting — which I very well might be. However, they’re from Walgreens. They’re blue and LED. Seriously. Seriously. SERIOUSLY?

Problem #3: Having a rolling pin around when you’re mad at your husband (joke — kind of…).

Problem #4: I’m a very messy cook. The picture says it all.

Problem #5: I tried to make tortillas today.

While these doughy bread-like substances may not seem like a problem, they sure weren’t tortillas. This recipe came out to be more like flat breads/pitas. While I’m not complaining because any carbohydrate is a good carbohydrate in my book, it just wasn’t what I was expecting.

Problem #6: I coated the dough with brown rice flour to avoid sticking… that brown rice flour was a little too “course” if you ask me. Crunch… crunch… crunch.

Problem #7: We were having burritos for dinner. Burritos on a pita do not work very well.

Pitarritos?

Works for me!

If you look very closely below, the Husband’s hands are very warily making his first black bean pitaritto. He actually just ate leftovers for “supper” (remember: if you’re Dutch (which he is), dinner is at 1 on Sundays… supper is at 6. ::sigh::). When I told him I was surprised he was eating the pittaritos again, he exclaimed very loudly:

Well! Someone’s got to do it!”

Problem #8: The Husband didn’t really enjoy today’s food. Whoops. I would have gladly eaten the leftovers… just sayin’.

The cure all to every problem in the world?

Coconut crusted chocolate covered dough balls setting in the freezer.

I can’t help it I ate four to cure my blues this afternoon.

Now that, my friends, will never be a problem.

Question: Have any problems today?

Hahahaha that is TOO funny about the persnickety arrow! Awww, you’re too cute. ;)

Wow, making tortillas sounds incredibly hard. Hats off to you for even attempting these.
And those balls are some of the best balls Ive ever seen.

I smiled a big smile for using the word balls twice in one sentence. I’m worse than a fifth grader.

If it makes you feel any better, your blog is cuttently telling me that your smiling face is the best part of waking up ;)
And I agree with Lauren - you get definite props for attempting tortillas - I’d still say accidentally making pitas instead is far from a problem!
Maybe the LED lights are a joke, because he has new NEW ones for Christmas?! Maybe?!

cleaneatingchelsey December 19, 2010 at 7:54 pm

:) Yes!!

The LED lights are certainly NOT a joke. He was actually offended I was freaking out so much.

Haha, how on earth did that “persnickety” thing show up on your blog? I least you can get a kick out of it!

Today was (fortunately) pretty problem-free for me, which I desperately needed in comparison with yesterday’s cooking flops. Sigh.

My first attempt at tortillas/wraps turned out similar. I don’t know what I did differently but my second attempt went a lot better! Hopefully yours will too!

My problem today? I had a flat tire this past week. Today I found out that my spare has gone flat also. And I’m too broke to buy a new tire :(

cleaneatingchelsey December 19, 2010 at 8:40 pm

Ugh - that stinks Katy!

At least your guy listens to things you joke about wanting. I outright ask for things and they never happen =( womp womp

My problem today was my back =( no workouts this winter means no bueno pains all over from not being fit. Totally my fault - I need to get my achy back and my big butt to the gym. stat!

Hopefully tomorrow rocks your socks to make up for ze problems!

I about died laughing about the burrito pitas! Only because I have had the same exact thing happen before! Homemade tortillas are supposed to be easy, but somehow mine always turn out on the “crunchy” side! : )

Today’s problem: one of my good friends was sick so no Universal Studios for the day.
Problem resolved by going to Starbucks and to see Tron with my mom :)

I have 2 problems only. One, I have a very sore thumb from an unfortunate knife slip. D’oh! Two, I miss my family back home in Australia and I wish I could see them for Christmas! But I can’t.
I wholeheartedly agree with Allie: your husband is so sweet to do all these things for you!

I’d eat a pittarito for lunch, dinner, supper, no matter what time of day the dutch think it is.

Also, my dad calls lunch “dinner” and I mock him endlessly for it and tell him how wrong he is. He’s Dutch. Turns out I was the wrong one. I’m not telling him though, and he doesn’t read your blog. YES!

bit too much. Better luck next time ;)

Haha I love the pitarittos! Even if those tortillas didn’t work out, they still look good to me! :D

Oh man, I can’t even begin to go on about my problems yesterday! I had to dig my car out of a snowbank only to find out it had a flat tire, and then when I took it to the shop they informed me that ALL of my tires needed to be replaced. Ugh, what a pain in my butt!!!

This weekend has been a tad tense in our household haha. I’ll leave it at that.

I’m a disaster in the kitchen in terms of messiness, but the baked goods usually come out tasty! I almost had a ‘fail’ last night and couldn’t get my shortbread off the cookie sheet…eek!

Cheers to turning your woes into blogging material. Makes everything better right?

You need to show your husband Todays little “arrow”
<—Best Part Of Waking Up

Then make him make the bed. Cause you'll be there when he leaves, I presume. (0:

About the LED lights? No fear Ma'Dear. I got one of those and the batteries went dead in like a day. Won't last long. He owes you. Dinner at the vegan cafe!

Funny post! I didn’t realize that the lunch/dinner issue was a Dutch thing…being Dutch myself and living in West Michigan (near Holland!) I never heard Sunday “dinner” called anything else!
