loved that peanut butter

February 10, 2011

Before I begin my post for today, I have to thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart for your response to my post yesterday. The comments and the emails that you sent to me were read and cherished — I can feel so much love and support in this community. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

Have you ever been aware that you were getting a package sent to you in the mail? When I was little, I would get giddy about the week before my birthday when the cards started to pour in from aunts and uncles. Each day was an adventure going out to the mailbox to see what was in store.

I have to admit that to this day when I know I am going to be getting a package, I hope and pray on my way home that it will be sitting by my front door just waiting for me to rip into it.

Do you remember when I was afraid that my peanut butter supply would run low during Snowmageddon 2011? Well, the Peanut Butter Gods have heard my cry — and they delivered.

When I spoke with David at Peanut Butter & Co. about the possibility of doing a review for their line of peanut butters, he told me he would send me a few samples to review. You can only imagine my surprise when I received a 10 pound package housing 10 jars of peanut butter. If this is any indication about how passionate these people are about their product, let it be that. Not to mention their generosity is amazing — I really feel like they care about their customers. Thank you, David!

All together, PB&Co. has ten different varieties of peanut butter — they are unique flavors that most companies don’t make. If I told you I didn’t immediately tear the safety lid off and go to town on each one of these, it would be a lie.

First up: Cinnamon Raisin Swirl

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect with this. At first I thought there might be chunks of raisins inside the peanut butter, which I would have totally been cool with. However, what I found was a smooth peanut butter with a distinct cinnamon raisin flavor. This would be great on a bagel or toast in the morning. Loved this peanut butter.

Up Next: White Chocolate Wonderful

And wonderful it is — I always surprise myself when I find I like “white chocolate” or “vanilla” more than I enjoy chocolate now. This was like eating a white chocolate candy bar filled with peanut butter. More decadent than your usual peanut butters, but oh so wonderful for those sweet cravings we all have. Loved this peanut butter.

Then there was: Old Fashioned Smooth

Be still my heart — my passion lies in 100% natural peanut butters. I love how drippy this peanut butter is. I may or may not have went to town on this bad boy with a spoon. The ingredients were pretty good too: peanuts & salt. ::swoon:: You know it’s coming — Loved this peanut butter.

Coming at ya: The Bee’s Knees

Honey, you’ll love this stuff — unless you’re a for real vegan. Then, stay away from it. But for this vegan(ish) girl, this peanut butter was great. It was a little sweet for my liking (but my tolerance for sweet is almost nonexistent) and has a higher sugar content than most of the peanut butters (7 grams), but pair this with an english muffin and hot tea and you’ve got yourself a winner. It reminds me of the peanut butter & honey sandwiches my elementary school used to give kids who forgot their lunch money. Perhaps not the fondest of memories, but I suppose you could say it brings me back to my childhood. Loved this peanut butter.

Then I tried: Mighty Maple

For some reason, I felt like I should put a red cape on this jar and make it into a super hero. When I hear the word “mighty” I think of someone who will save the world. This peanut butter might actually do that (save the world) — because all your life’s troubles will melt away once you eat four a spoonful of this. I am already imagining pancakes on Saturday morning with this peanut butter shmeared (technical term) on top. Loved this peanut butter.

Up Next: The Heat is On

I got a major kick out of the fact that the monkey (they are monkeys, right?) on the jar had devil horns. I was actually kind of scared to try this variety to be perfectly honest with you. I’ve never had a savory peanut butter, and I had a great flavor going on in my mouth from the Mighty Maple. However, I must say I can’t wait to try this flavor out in a spicy peanut sauce next week. Recipes are already floating around in my head, and I can’t wait! Loved this peanut butter.

Get Ready For: Dark Chocolate Dreams

This is what dreams are made of (Hilary Duff, anyone?). I’m a dark chocolate lover with every fiber of my soul. It reminded me of Nutella, but doesn’t have any dairy (score!). It was smooth, fluffy, and had an excellent flavor. We all know how hormonal I am, so you know this stuff will come in handy. Loved this peanut butter.

Let’s Not Forget About: Smooth Operator

The Smooth Operator was their smooth version that wasn’t 100% natural and drippy. Still delicious, to say the least — and smooooth! They don’t lie about serious things such as smoothness. It really is and has excellent flavor. I’m wondering if they use this as the base for the rest of their fabulous flavors? Loved this peanut butter.

Now, the last ones, but certainly not least: Old Fashioned Crunchy & Crunch Time

I did a comparison on these two because at first I wasn’t sure what the difference was until I opened them up. Old Fashioned Crunch is their 100% natural chunky/crunchy peanut butter. I had never had crunchy natural peanut butter before (it’s a crime, really), and it was everything I had ever hoped for (and more). Crunch Time tasted like their Smooth Operator with chunks of peanuts in there. Let me tell you this — both of these flavors had a more than generous amount of peanut chunks prevalent! It was awesome! You guessed it — loved these peanut butters.

I always try to be 100% honest and real on my reviews and make sure to give criticism where need be, but I seriously could not think of anything to critique this company on.  Their peanut butter rocks, their customer service is impressive, and well, Charlie is happy because his momma isn’t rationing the peanut butter that goes in his bone anymore.

What would 10 jars of peanut butter be without a peanut butter pyramid?

I think I’m the happiest girl in the world.

And no, it’s not sad that peanut butter did that for me.

Question: What is your favorite nut butter?

Disclaimer: Peanut Butter & Co. was kind enough to send me complimentary samples of their products. All views expressed on this review were purely my own, and I was not reimbursed by the company to share my opinion.
