that kind of weekend

April 10, 2011

There really are no words for this weekend.

No words meaning “I can’t talk because if I stop and relax, this weather is going to be gone for another month and I really like it when it’s 80 degrees outside”.

It was the kind of weekend where you don’t really care if your legs are so ghostly white that others can see through them — you just gotta put that sundress on.

It was the kind of weekend where flip flops were mandatory.

It was the kind of weekend where afternoons were best spent basking in the sunshine.

It was the kind of weekend where fresh flowers just had to be bought — just because.

It was the kind of weekend where fresh produce was all I wanted — ripe, juicy pears are best enjoyed leaning over the side of your deck so the juices don’t run down your clothes (just in case you didn’t know that already).

It was the kind of weekend where I remembered how much I love overnight oats and how I remembered how I can’t wait until it’s warm out for good so I can eat them every morning.

Even if there’s pumpkin in them… What? I got my seasons confused.

It was the kind of weekend where the grill was busted out to be put to good use. It was also the kind of weekend for the Husband to declare “You better not be putting a picture of our janky grill on your blog.”

I’m not sorry.

It was the kind of weekend where I remembered all of the years of grilling with my parents. Because a grill out is not the same without a “potato bomb”.

It was the kind of weekend where food is best enjoyed outside at the picnic table.

Where the Husband could learn to grill tofu for the first time (even if he did let some of mine fall through the grill cracks “on accident”.

Where a lazy afternoon was spent reading in the grass.

However, it was not the weekend for me to learn how to keep my eyes open for pictures. Another day folks — just not today.

Don’t forget the ice cold beer.

It was also the kind of weekend for some winners:

Please email me your contact information!

Yeah — it was that kind of weekend.

Question: What kind of weekend was it for you?
