the tale of the anniversary

My husband has put up with living with me for the last 365 days of his life.

In case you’re not him, that’s 8,760 hours.

Or 525,600 minutes.

Or 31,536,000 seconds.

Yeah, I feel bad for him too.

If you’re sitting there shaking your head, thinking to yourself “come on — it can’t be that bad…” I can assure you it is. From my whining, to my household demands, to my “ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME?” when the TV is on — I’m not an easy person to live with.

As if that wasn’t enough, try being married to me.

Are you running yet?

Despite it all, the Husband and I said “i do” a year ago today. They say the first year of marriage is the most difficult to get through. Learning about the other’s quirks and pet peeves is apparently enough to make a person go crazy. Thankfully I have the world’s most patient Husband — someone who will (annoyingly) see a different perspective when I’m in one of my moods, someone who will tell me I am “as beautiful as a dozen roses” when I wake up yelling about how I don’t know how to turn his phone alarm off, someone who will eat my dinner disasters without complaining that it is the worst thing he has ever eaten, someone who will eat his cereal in the next room because he “chews too loudly” in the morning for me.

He sounds like a saint, wouldn’t you agree?

Of course I’m not going to tell you everything I do for the Husband in this post — that would just ruin the horrible image you have of me right now. Gosh, I’m so selfless.

With all jokes aside, I am so glad that the Husband took the leap and asked me to marry him despite the fact that meant he would probably be a little bit crazy and his eye might twitch uncontrollably because I am his wife.

I want us both to live to be 100. Wouldn’t that be neat? A little old man and a little old lady rocking in chairs on a front porch, bickering about God knows what. And to think, that means we have 76 more years together.

Or 27,740 more days.

Or 1,664,400 more hours.

Or 99,864,000 more minutes.

Or 5,991,840,000 more seconds.

I think the Husband will want a say in this plan of mine…
