tasting extra delicious

January 4, 2012

Right now I’m flying in the sky on my way to Disney World! Even though I feel like I have been shoving it in your faces for at least a few weeks now, you must understand how insanely excited I am. I just can’t help it! During the hustle and bustle of getting my life in order yesterday, I ate a lot of good food – and everything just tasted so darn amazing!

Breakfast – 7:45 AM

Okay, I have not been getting my butt out of bed until at least 7:00 every morning. It has been incredibly wonderful to have to wake up to an alarm at an hour like that. Major accomplishment.

This morning’s breakfast featured the same one I have been eating for weeks – except this time I took a picture in natural lighting. Gorgeous.

And despite the fact that the red cups are gone (::tear::), my venti coffee with 1/3 soy (you have to get the right amount of creaminess folks) tasted extraordinarily delicious. I love it when those baristas do it right.

Seriously, these cups aren’t doing anything for me.

The morning consisted of me making food for the Husband, finishing up my packing, and doing one of my last runs before Saturday morning!

Lunch – 12:30 PM

Lunch needs an explanation. Okay, it doesn’t need an explanation because I eat what I want and don’t really mind what others think about it. However, I know some will have questions! With vegetarianism, there is a large grey area – do I eat eggs? do I eat cheese? do I eat any animal products? It’s a tough line to draw. I hadn’t eaten eggs in a really long time – mainly because I am never sure of their source, which is one of the reasons why I became a vegetarian in the first place. However, the Husband and I have been getting local and organic eggs that are vegetarian fed which makes me feel better about where they are coming from. Sooooo, I’ve been eating eggs. The first time I ate one a few weeks ago, I couldn’t decide if I wanted to puke or if I was enjoying it. Apparently I’m enjoying them.

Lunch was a ginormous salad to use up the last of my veggies. On the top I had some avocado, a fried egg, balsamic vinegar, and hummus. Then halfway through my salad, I realized I didn’t have enough hummus so I drizzled some bone suckin’ sauce on the salad. Best idea ever.

On the side, I had some Eat Your Vegetables chips.

About a half an hour later, I was still feeling snacky, so I mixed 1 cup of Greek yogurt with 1 tbsp. of chocolate protein powder. I topped it with some apple, almonds, and cacao nibs. Perfect snack!

Dinner – 6:30 PM

Tonight’s dinner was courtesy of Mom and Dad! Since my mom and I are leaving in the morning, I’m staying at their house tonight. The Husband and I went out to get pizza with them before I headed back home with them.

I got my own personal gluten free pizza (sans cheese) loaded up with all kinds of good veggies. I ate all but two pieces. I was stuffed. It was delicious.

Buuuut that doesn’t mean I didn’t have time for a snack later with some Love! I spent the rest of the night sitting in the guest room at my parents’ house, blogging, and watching Friday Night Lights. Basically, I felt like I was in high school and it was awesome.

I’m not sure why everything tasted super delicious yesterday, but my taste buds were loving it!

See you from Orlando!

Wow delicious eats and I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks that Starbucks have lost their spark with the red cups gone! After all of last week’s indulging, every ordinary, simple meal tastes fabulous especially the chevre, pesto, basil and tomato on herbed wholewheat sandwich I had for dinner on Monday night!

Lol the only meal I ate yesterday that did not consist of Greek yogurt, granola or an apple was a salad with chicken, so that was the best! And I’m actually sitting on my first flight right now! Back to KC (well, the airport) and then time to drive to Colorado!

I’m saddened by the fact that the red cups are gone, too. It makes coffee drinking more fun when you have a festive cup!

That pizza sounds delicious-I’ve never had one sans cheese but it sounds great! Best thing lately = a bowl of rice krispies for a snack. Seriously, so simple but it tasted so good.

Good luck with your race! You’re going to do great!

Best of luck to you in your half! I know you’ll rock it! This morning I am eating overnight oats (a staple when school resumes and I am pressed for time), well I made some for the Husband last night, too. He just said, “These are so good! What do you put in them??” So I guess overnight oats would be my last ordinary meal that tastes extra good!

I am always snackier (yes that is a word!) when I am in my parents house. Must be the whole regressing back to high school thing. And I bet if you explained to Starbucks your love of red cups they could give you one. I bet they have tons of extras in the back.

Yay Yay Yay for Disney! :) I have to agree that your oatmeal pic is quite lovely. The last ordinary thing I had that turned out delicious was a pork chop with sauerkraut. I didn’t even think I liked pork chops!

I’m so glad you’re eating eggs. They’re nutritionally dense and, when responsibly raised, I think they work quite nicely as part of a vegetarian diet. It makes me a little sad that you feel the need to explain food decisions, though :( . If you decided tomorrow to become a high raw vegan or eat a steak, no one should confront you about it-it’s your body and your life!

I’ve been loving 1/2 cup oatmeal cooked in water, 2 minutes in the microwave, with 1 T flax seed and extra water stirred in after. No cinnamon, no banana, no nuts…so boring yet it has been hitting the spot every morning!

I agree about Starbucks — I always get the soy misto and I make them draw a line on the cup of where I want the coffee to end and the soy to start. Half soy is way too much!

The first day walking into Starbucks when the red cups are gone is weird. You feel like something is missing, but can’t figure it out. Then, when you do, you started thinking about how they should have like, blue cups with snowflakes for winter or something. haaa….

Anna @ The Guiltless Life January 4, 2012 at 11:36 am

Eggs are definitely tricky, but I really need the protein so I too just make sure they’re from a good source and then I’m willing to eat them. I still try to bake with flax eggs etc though and just eat eggs on their own when I need a good protein hit!

Have fun at Disney, so jealous! You’ll have a wonderful time!

Eat your vegetables chips? Mmm those sound good. The last time I got a “gluten-free” pizza while I was out I got majorly glutened. So much pain. So I’m way too nervous to try again. Do you find that you can generally trust restaurants?

Be safe on your trip! Your food lineup yesterday looked amazing. :) Eggs are a funny thing. It’s a love/hate…mostly love. :) I will go through phases and want them all of the time, and then there are times I have to be in the mood.

I love Starbucks… green or red. ;) Mostly red ;)

Have a great trip!

When I was in Florida last week (we kinda swapped places, yet you got the better end of the deal because you’re the one in Florida now!), and the hubby and I went to the beach we brought some mashed avocado, fresh salsa and chips to munch on. So simple, but I absolutely love the flavour combos - and the heat from the salsa!

Yay for natural lighting! Your bowl of oats looks even better than before (which didn’t seem possible). Last night I had a sweet potato, steamed kale, and baked tofu for dinner. So simple but, for some reason, it tasted extra delicious. I love when that happens!

Have an amazing time at Disneyland!

Have fun!! I have yet to go to Disney World or Disney Land… or America for that matter! :P

My boyfriend’s mom had us over for dinner and she served asparagus! I love it with a squeeze of lime. I normally don’t have it because my boyfriend hates it, but it tasted so good - especially since I wasn’t expecting it!
