I am so loving these weekend update posts. For one, my brain is mush on Sunday nights after the weekend. Two, I love re-living the two and a half days I was able to experience doing fun things!
My first KIND Bar – Dark Chocolate Cherry Cashew. I’m a fan!
TJ’s Brussels Sprouts stalks are back! For $3.99… amazing!
Friday evening I had a very redeeming moment. I’ve been adding a little bit more exercise into my life lately – nothing intense, but more than just walking like I previously mentioned awhile ago. I’ve been walk/running since, and Friday night I wanted to see how long I could honestly run without stopping. 4.0 miles! All done in 40 minutes. To say I was shocked is an understatement. I had this big goofy grin on my face all night. Then I was reminded of it all day Saturday when my legs wanted to fall off.
Much of my weekend was spent doing homework and working ahead so I don’t have to do any work this weekend when Tina is here!
Saturday morning brunch with Kathleen at Prasino. Omelet and homestyle potatoes.
Homemade gluten free bread – pinch me!
I love getting together with her. She’s the best to talk to!
Switching out our living room rug in the fall always makes me feel so cozy. Except for the fact that the carpet tape I put down in the spring was showing and I had to rip up a bunch of it. Then I proceeded to spend an hour getting it off my floor.
My date for the weekend. My nephew made the “rock on” sign when I told him Uncle Husband would do something with him next weekend. He told me over dinner that he “was sad Uncle John wasn’t home”. (I was a single lady this weekend) Other notable quote from the night? “When I get married, I have to be really careful. I don’t want a gold digger.” Touché, little man. Touché.
Impulse buy from Target. Okay, not really because I needed new slippers. But how cute are they?
Sunday afternoon lunch – salad with avocado, egg, and hummus. Gluten free bread with Earth Balance on the side.
Manicure/Pedicure I finally treated myself to. My feet were in poor shape – they needed it! Lincoln Park After Dark on my toesies, and a similar color on my nails with Shellac. I think it is called Midnight?
Brussels sprouts and Buttercup squash dinner last night. All that fiber fills me up for about an hour, but I was ready for a snack soon after! I can’t say no to this combo though.
I’m looking forward to a not quite as busy week as last week. Nothing too crazy is going on and for that I am really grateful! Now’s your turn. How was your weekend?
PS - For those of you who were VERY concerned about my space bar, I am happy to say I fixed it on Friday night. With the help of my brother in law’s texts, a you tube video, and my nimble fingers!

I hope you’re going to have the recipe up for that bread!!! Please tell me it’s not made with a bread machine and you will have made my Monday!!! Well done on the run again btw!
It’s actually homemade GF bread from the restaurant I went to!
Ah bum! Still nice to see restaurants making an effort!
I love that Lincoln Park After Dark color for fall and winter! That is one of my like 6 nailpolishes I actually own! (but getting them done is so much better!) And adorable slippers!!
Love it too! PS So excited to meet you on Saturday!!!
Nice going on the run, Chelsey! I had a similar experience this morning! I have been in a running funk for the past month- just not enjoying it at all! I went in today without any time/speed/distance goals..only to just have fun with it! Lo & behold, taking the pressure off apparently works because guess who banged out 7.5 kilometers
! - still buzzing!!
Awesome job!
Good job on the run girl!! I bet you felt really great!
LOVE the nail color, hello fall!!!! <3
Thanks love! I keep meaning to email you!!
Girllll there is a ridiculous amount of marvelous things happening in this post.
1. Great job on those 4 miles girl
2. Your breakfast omelet looks to die for
3. What a cute nephew you have.
4. LOVE the slippers. They are ADORABLE!!!!
Looks like great weekend. I still need to give those kind bars a try. I went to a baseball game with the family…great weekend for me too!
How fun! Hope the weather was good!
Love those slippers! Target has the best finds ever! Kind bars are awesome and you actually picked one of my favorites to try first! The coconut almond is great too!
I always get a pair of new slippers from Target every fall - they’re so comfortable!
I love your dinner combo! We did something similar last night but with squash and French beans. Yummy!
So good - all that fiber made my stomach hurt - haha!
Yay for running!! And your first kind bar?! I’ve been raving about them for ages!
I guess you’re much more advanced than me. Whatever.
Isn’t it the best when you totally surprise yourself with an unexpected distance? I did that the other day. I was feeling less than spectacular and just decided I would go out and see what happened, no goals. I ended up busting out a beautiful 6 miles without even trying. Mind over matter!
So glad you had a wonderful weekend love. <3 xoxo
That’s awesome! Although today was much rougher. My legs were still feeling it!
Glad you had a good weekend! And I love your nephew and his comments! So funny.
Vishnu and I started buying more furniture again, so our apt is starting to feel more and more like a home. YAY!
How fun! I love furniture shopping.
Okay, I take that back. Furniture shopping stinks.
sounds like you had a wonderful weekend..i love how your living room looks! so fall and cozy..I need to step up the fall decorations in my apartment we don’t have a single decoration up..but we’re all lazy college students so I’m not sure when we’ll actually end up getting decorations hah
haha! We used to decorate for Christmas in our apartment during college. We had a tiny litle tree and e verything!
I can’t get enough squash during this time of year, I’ve never tried buttercup squash though! I’ll have to keep my eye out for it at the farmers market this weekend
It’s very similar to kabocha!
Where did you get the buttercup squash?!
It was actually at Jewel (a local grocery store). They’ve only ever had butternut, acorn, and spaghetti, so I was surprised!!
I neeeeed slippers like that- too cute! …the littlest decor changes can totally change the feel of a room, it looks cute in there!
….Hooray for that run!
Way to get that homework done!
Thanks! I hope your little man is doing good!
Your nephew is so wise! I love lincoln park after dark for the winter time! I love your new slippers they are too fun and I would probably wear them in public like shoes!
Chelsey — your weekend looks like it was just so comforting and cozy!! (Busy, yes, but very … serene? Although, I’m sure your nephew livened things up!)
One of my favourite feelings in the world (behind Mommy hugs and curled near the fire with hot tea and bread baking … sigh!)
The food looks fabulous!! Absolutely delectable! I’m pretty sure that my intestines would be pretty angry at me if I ate the same amount of brussel sprouts in one weekend though!! The squash is definitely giving me a craving. Yay for fall food!!
Congrats on getting your run in — I love that “big goofy grin” feeling, and how it permeates your entire body.
I totally agree with you on the cozy and comforting weekend!
Run Girl Run!!!!! Congrats!! Looking forward to a great weather week here in Kansas. Saturday is the Sunflower Showdown in Manhattan. Kansas State vs. Kansas….GO WILDCATS!!! Enjoy your week! Smiles!
haha thanks! I was quite happy!
Cuuute slippers!
Love those slippers!!!
All of your weekend eats look so good! And great job on the run!
Love your nail polish!! I did mine this weekend too haha only I went with a sandy color lol Glad your space bar is fixed! My computer got a virus Sat night so I had to fix that :/
CONGRATS on the 4 miles! That is awesome and I love how you are adding exercise back in slowly. I agree with you about the squash + brussel sprouts combo. That is ALL I ever want to eat for sinner, but when I neglect to eat anything else, I definitely need a nighttime snack.
haha I can’t help that I want nothing but veggies sometimes!
4 miles? That’s awesome girl! I’m kind of curious to see how many I’d still be able to do… I get the itch sometimes, so maybe I’ll just have to give it a go.
Do itttt!
Glad to hear the space bar is okay;)
That is really great you were able to run 4 miles! I’m pretty impressed!
Last night I totally had the same dinner, but with kabocha instead of buttercup. Yah, fiber overload…and then you get hungry like 1 hour later.
And those slippers are adorable! I need a new pair.
The space bar was ruining my life. I’m not joking.
PRASINO!! You were right by my house. I mean, like you could spit on it. I’m offended I didn’t get a drop in. Also, I’ve never been, but have heard wonderful GF things about it!
I’m a horrible friend.
We should go some weekend!!
Thanks for not spitting on me.
I wish we had a Target because I want those slippers. Way to go on running 4 miles. There is something about running that makes you feel so accomplished!
Where do you live that you don’t have a Target? I’m appalled!!!
Happy World Vegetarian Day and Vegetarian Awareness Month! =)
THANKS!!!
Any weekend I get to see my nieces/nephews, catch up with my DVR and completely bomb a new recipe is good enough in my book!
Agreed!
He doesn’t want a gold digger?! HA! That’s hilarious! What a cute kid.
PS- your wood floors are beautiful! Glad you had a great weekend
Thanks! The husband installed them himself. I like to brag on his handy work.
those little homestyle potato cubes are the flipping best. i love it when restaurants have those.
Your nephew is hilarious. He reminds me of my sister’s fiance’s oldest daughter, who used to tell me the most hilarious things. One time I overheard her talking to her younger sister about the importance of dressing like a lady for school, so boys don’t lose respect for her. They were 5 and 7. I die.
That’s hilarious!!!
I’m already thinking I’m going to need to roast up some more butternut squash - I could live off the stuff in the fall!
And I really, really wish the boyfriend liked brussel sprouts. Because they are delicious but he doesn’t agree.
I need to roast up my butternut that’s been sitting on my counter!
Nice job on the run!
Also your nephew is hilarious! I love spending time with kids because they always say the funniest things without even realizing it.
So true - why do you think I love being a teacher so much?
Ah, I miss my Shellac manicures! I guess getting one every now and then wouldn’t be SO bad.
haha! I rarely get them, so I decided to!
Looks like a great weekend! Your living is room is seriously SO adorable. You should do a house post some time and show off your cute decorating skills!
:)
I had a great time with some of my old college friends. But I’m ready for the week to get going now!
so good to see you!! hopefully lauren will be part of our next brunch date
Love the nails!! And congrats on getting that spacebar issue fixed … as silly as it may seem, I also know it can be a huge annoyance!
Love the manicure color-looks like you had a great weekend!
I love your nail love and KIND bars are just great. Thanks for the recap
oh man, so much good food! And as simple as it is~toasted bread is so good, especially if it’s gf.
And what a smart young man! We don’t want no gold diggas here! haha
