current state of our fridge

February 26, 2013

Guys, I’m pathetic. If you don’t believe me, take a look at our fridge at this very moment.

Its current state is beyond horrible. We have apples, almond milk, orange juice, and expired CHO. I should probably throw that away… ::tear::

Needless to say, we ended up at our favorite fast dinner location. I’ll give you one guess as to where we went.

You’ve got that right! We headed to Chipotle last night. I’ve had a few people ask me what I get in my bowls when I go, so here’s the low down.

  • brown rice
  • black beans
  • extra veggies
  • extra mild salsa
  • a little bit of hot salsa
  • guacamole
  • lettuce

It is my absolute favorite meal. I could (and sometimes do request it) eat it multiple times a week.

After dinner, I decided to head into Whole Foods which was next door to stock up on some things for our fridge.

And I came out with eggs and hummus. ::sigh::

My poor husband.

I swear we get the exact same thing from Chipotles, but only difference is that I don’t have one remotely close to me and I cry…a little each day haha

At least an empty fridge means you have a reason to go to chipotle!

At least your fridge is clean. -_-

Lol this looks like my own fridge at the end of the two weeks between our shopping trips. I plan out our meals pretty well so that we don’t buy anything we won’t use, so by the last day it looks extremely empty! Usually it just looks like a college fridge with beer, wine and condiments! Ha!

Haha, just think of it this way, you’re saving my money by not going grocery shopping! That’s what I say to myself when we’re down to almost nothing :) .

LOVE chipotle, one of our faves over here! <3

It could be worse. Your fridge could be overflowing and an entire disaster. So, on the bright side, at least it is clean! ;) And hey, it gave you a GREAT excuse to get Chipotle…not that you really need an excuse ;) .

Love Chipotle and your bowl is just like mine, but I get chicken too!

Haha! Love it. My fridge is currently stocked from this weekends grocery trip. I can’t let it get down to the bare minimum like yours unless I am going on vacation. (Do you have a better stocked freezer? ;) )

I wish our Chipotle was located closer to our house…dangerous, but oh so delicious! It wasn’t a year after we moved to to the opposite side of town that they built the Chipotle on the side of our OLD house. Bah! I guess my wallet secretly thanks me. That and Target. Thank goodness Target is 30 minutes away!

HAHA! Ohhh, how I can relate. I can count the number of things in my fridge on one hand right now. The store needs to happen ASAP. But not today. I think I’ll just be picking up sushi for dinner tonight. :) I’ve been eating the most random food combinations to use up what (very little) I have. I’m such a single girl. Ha.

Allison February 26, 2013 at 8:14 am

We get the exact same bowl from Chipotle! So much delicious-ness going on in there.

Ashley @ Life and Fitness February 26, 2013 at 8:31 am

Haha whenever my fridge looks like that I end up finding such random things in my pantry to eat. Maybe you will have to get Chipotle again this week! :)

Maybe you subconsciously don’t want to restock the fridge so that you can keep going to Chipotle for dinner every night ; ),

My fridge might end up looking like that more often if I had a Chipotle around me too, but as it stands, it only reaches that state when I’m on vacation. And there’s nothing wrong with hummus and eggs…. for a few days anyway ;)

Bahaha that’s what our fridge looked like Sunday night too. Fortunately I solved that yesterday, but it was still a pretty pathetic sight! Good choice on the Chipotle. ;)

Emily February 26, 2013 at 9:17 am

Haha that’s how our fridge looks every Sunday morning too. I will NEVER turn down Chipotle though for instead of buying groceries…always a great choice!

I get the EXACT same bowl as you when I go to Chipotle :) And my fridge looks like that every Saturday. I like to claim that it is because I only buy fresh products that I know I will use during the week so by the end of the week, I’ve used everything that I purchased!

Shel@PeachyPalate February 26, 2013 at 12:54 pm

At least it’s healthy! You could so easily recreate it at home though!

Meghan @ After the Ivy League February 26, 2013 at 1:52 pm

Yum! Love Chipotle, and hey I’d say you have the basic staples right there in your fridge. Not too bad at all!

Reply

Katie February 26, 2013 at 1:56 pm

Ours looked even MORE pathetic than that until about 20 minutes ago, which I braved the snow and went to the store to fill-er-up. But isn’t it sad how you can spend almost $100 and STILL have a fridge that doesn’t look full? So disappointing.

What I’m saying, basically, is thank goodness for Chipotle.

Annette@FitnessPerks February 26, 2013 at 2:57 pm

def a great reason to go out for sure! ;)

I get into ruts of wanting to cook & not cook, so often mine looks like that too! hah

Hahaha so funny! At least it’s a good excuse to get Chipotle. That bowl is exactly what I got the one and only time I’ve been to Chipotle - and it was amazing. I’ve craved it ever since then.

Sometimes I wish my fridge looked like that, haha. It’s so packed, I pull out things that I didn’t even know existed.

I love Chipotle! I went there on Saturday after what was probably 1 year of not going. I forgot how good it was.

This made me laugh…because I have the total opposite problem. Ive been on a grocery buying binge lately (was traveling and tried to stock up on fun local foods from home and a HUGE trader joes stop) and now Im thinking “how am I going to eat all this food?” Oh, and Im leaving again in two days. PLANNING FAIL!!!!! If I was closer I would have you over for dinner!

Amber K February 26, 2013 at 8:55 pm

Our fridge is pretty much the opposite Ruhr now. For some reason having a full fridge of food makes me crave going out to eat. Luckily we have begun chipping away at it before it goes bad!

Alisha @ Alisha's Appetite February 27, 2013 at 8:49 am

My fridge looks like that at the end of every week- hence why saturday is grocery shopping day!

Reply

Sara @ The Foodie Diaries February 27, 2013 at 12:06 pm

I’m not even kidding, my fridge looks identical to that. Hence why I’ve had Chipotle 2/3 days this week.

Twinning.
