I have SO missed sharing updates about my two little beans. At 24 weeks, I hit viability on Saturday! Viability is the ability for a fetus to survive outside of the womb. Of course if the babies were born now, there is a good chance for a lot of health complications and a LOT of hospital time (or not even surviving – only a percentage of babies born this early survive), but it’s good to know my little girls have hit this particular milestone!
Please ignore the clean sheets that have to be folded – and compare this picture to 21 weeks. Same shirt, much bigger belly!
Weight Gained: Last week when I was at the doctor I was up about 14 pounds. While it might seem “low” for a mama to be of multiples, I am really not worrying about it. I am actually just happy that with everything that has been going on in my life that I actually put weight on and didn’t lose any. Grief and stress can do some crazy things to your body. My doctor isn’t worried as there is really no “normal” for weight gain during pregnancy – AND, my girls are thriving.
I went for my 24 week growth ultrasound at the high risk doctor yesterday and I was SHOCKED at how big these girls are. Most of their limbs are still measuring ahead by at least a week and they are well above average for their weights. Because I’m getting these higher tech ultrasounds, it’s easier for them to predict their weights. At 24 weeks, the average fetal weight is 1 lb 3 oz. Well, my girls are overachievers – Baby A is 1 lb 10 oz and Baby B is 1 lb 9 oz. Woohooo!!!! I am so glad to know they are weighing ahead, especially since they will most likely be early. That makes me one happy mama.
Symptoms: I haven’t really had too many symptoms this week – just a few!
- Food not sounding good. I haven’t really had “aversions” of any sort, but veggies have been on the back burner again. I’m just rolling with it.
- Lower back pain – all the time.
I better just get used to it, huh? - Leg/Knee pain if I’m standing too long – we had a memorial open house for my dad on Sunday, and I was on my feet most of the day visiting with family and friends. I definitely should have sat down more during the day because at the end of the day, my knees were feeling it!
Movement: Oh, they are duking it out in there EVERY single day. I feel limbs all over the place – in my ribs, on my bladder, near my hip bone. It cracks me up. They’re typically most active near the night (of course). Both of them are head down as of yesterday, so I’m sure I will be feeling higher kicks as time goes on. The husband has even felt them a few times. Of course they typically stop moving when he comes near to feel them, but I’m glad he’s been able to feel it a few times!
Food Cravings: Sandwiches! Last week it was tater tots. The week before it was smoothies from the protein bar.
Food Aversions: It’s not really an aversion, but breakfast type foods have not been sounding very good to me lately. I’ve been eating pretty weird things for breakfast lately, but whatever works!
Sleep: Sleep has been pretty good lately, especially now that I’m out of school. I’m still going to bed before 10 every night, but most mornings I have been staying in bed until about 7. Yesterday I even slept until 8! (Which meant I didn’t require a nap) On days that I’m getting 8-9 hours of sleep, I really need a nap during the day. It seems like 10 hours is prime for me these days. I’m living it up while I can!
Stretch Marks? None. ::knock on wood::
Miss Anything? Does this have to be baby related? Okay – I guess I can tie it in, but I miss my dad. You saw that one coming, didn’t you? On Sunday during his memorial open house, I thought “oh my goodness, I can’t wait to tell him that xxx came!!!” And then I realized that I’m an idiot because I can’t call him up to tell him, lol. I always called him after my doctor’s appointments too and gave him updates on the girls as well, so I was missing that phone call yesterday after my ultrasound.
Looking forward to: Some warm days so I can invade someone’s pool and one of my baby showers that is in two weeks!
Belly Button in or out? It’s about half and half at this point. The upper part of it is starting to poke out, but the bottom half is still in. It’s only a matter of time…
Happy or moody most of the time? I’ve been pretty happy and less weepy this week. I was kind of snappy at a few people (sorry Brother) on Sunday, but I think that was just my stress/sadness creeping through because of the day.
New Baby Items: I don’t think I have bought anything this week. I’m trying to wait until after our two showers so I don’t buy anything I didn’t need to!
Exercise: Exercise has kind of been on the backburner the past few weeks. I’ve gotten a few walks in, but there has just been so much going on – and, when there’s not, I’m too exhausted to even think about going for a walk or doing a workout. Thankfully things are starting to die down and I’m finally feeling caught up on sleep. Hopefully I’ll get back into it a little bit more this week since I’ve still got the clear to do my normal activities (woohoo for a long cervix! TMI?). Charlie will definitely thank me because he needs more exercise than running laps in the backyard!
Chic Pipsqueak Giveaway
About a month ago, Kjirsten contacted me to see if I was interested in trying out a few items from her super cute baby accessory boutique, Chic Pipsqueak. Chic Pipsqueak is an online boutique that sells inexpensive (yet high quality in my opinion!) accessory items for babies. She has a plethora of items including hats, leg warmers, and of course, headbands and bow clips. I emailed Kjirsten back immediately and told her I would love to do a review of her boutique items and share it with you all! Kjirsten graciously gave me $30 to spend in her boutique, and I was so surprised at how much I was able to get with that allowance.
I went straight for the headbands and bows because I am OBSESSED with little girls wearing huge flower bows in their headbands. I got two 12 pack starter kits of crocheted headbands as well as eight flowers that clip right into the headbands (2 each of four colors). I also bought two packages of hot pink and white chevron leggings for the girls. Cuteness overload!
If you’re a mama of a girl, you know how expensive those cute accessories can be ($5-$6 just for one headband? Uhhhh, no thanks!). The starter 12 pack of headbands was less than four dollars, and each clip was only $2! I love how I can change out the flower clips depending on what the girls will be wearing for the day. You better believe I’m going to be visiting Chic Pipsqueak again sometime soon to buy more!
Kjiersten is graciously giving one of my readers a $25 gift certificate to her boutique for whatever you’d like! All commenters below will be entered into the giveaway. This giveaway will be open until Thursday night. I will announce a winner on Friday morning!

haha they’re duking it out.. that’s funny. loving your baby bump
So happy to see you back with a baby post! I’m a frequent reader, although not a frequent commenter
I was so sorry to hear about your father. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
My husband and I are expecting our first little girl in August. We are very excited AND very nervous! I’ve been looking for cute headbands, so I will definitely need to check these out!
You are too cute! Your girls are going to be SO healthy when they come out. My cousin carried her twins to term and had 2 7lb babies so it is possible! So excited for you
So happy your little girls are thriving! It’s great that they’ve reached the viability stage, one milestone to be excited about for sure! Definite cuteness overload in that picture!
You’re amazing! So glad things are going well for you, all things considered. LOVE that your girls are such good little growers, too
I might have missed this, but do you have names picked out?
We do, but they are a secret from everyone!
You look fantastic! I’m sorry you’ve gone through such a rough time recently. Thank goodness you and your little girls are doing so well through it all! All the best in the weeks to come!
HAHa i love the weird cravings! They are all drastically different! You look great
Holy cow you look amazing, you are certainly thriving with these little girls! You can still talk to your Dad, he’ll be able to hear you!
what an amazing experience with twins - I love the “duking it out” part lol
Congrats on hitting the milestone.
You look cute pregnant
Love following your pregnancy journey!!
I did go back and look at the 21 week picture - what a difference! I’m glad that your girls are doing so well. Deepest sympathies to you and your family.
Those flowers are so cute! I’m having my first little girl at the end of August and I’m slowly wading into this world of brightly colored accessories
You are looking beyond wonderful girl! And bows are addicting. My little lady has worn since birth.
Hope your pregnancy continues smoothly. Congrats.
You are looking so great!! And I’m so glad to hear that your little munchkins are growing like weeds!
Did you get a haircut or am I crazy…? It looks shorter. Very cute either way! Congrats on the little ones hitting milestone!
A woman in my office is pregnant with twins too! And she JUST found out she’s having a boy and a girl - one of each! I think she’s a little nervous about having three kids - she never pictured more than two - and also about having her first girl, so if I win, I’m giving this to her so she can load up on accessories for the little one! That or a woman at my church who is a single momma and has the stinking cutest little baby daughter. Either way… good causes!
I agree about the more active at night, I got worried yesterday because I didn’t really feel our little one during the day. But while I was in class and trying to sleep OMG was he or she moving like crazy. : )
I would love a chance to win! I’m 8 weeks pregnant with our first, and I’m hoping for a girl
You look great! Glad you hear you and the girls are doing good.
Those little accessories are so cute, we find out the gender of our baby in 6 days - I am beyond excited!
Hi Chelsey!
I read your blog all the time though I have never commented. Congrats on your twin girls I can’t wait to see pictures when their born! My sister is having a little girl due in September and all the bows and such kill me at the store because they’re all too cute!
I’m so happy to hear that your girls are growing and staying strong and healthy!
Oh happy day! I’m so glad the babes are healthy and happy…I think about and pray for you 3 so often!
(and I still pick up the phone to call my mama sometimes…old habits.)
i have a little baby cousin who is starting to have enough hair for accessories and is old enough to deal with little extras
Those hair bands are adorable!
I’m so glad to hear that the babies are both growing and healthy!! Good work, mama!
You look great! and how exciting to hear how well the little girls are growing.
You are one strong mama! Its great to hear that your girls are growing strong. I am expecting my first baby a GIRL! in August and I LOVE the flower headbands. So sweet!
I would love to win some cute accessories for my girl! We just had a baby, moved states, I quit my job and my husband started a new one, and bought a house within a 7 week timeframe. Buying cute accessories for my daughter is not where my husband wants us spending money, so I’d love to win!
That stuff is so cute! I’m a HUGE advocate of leg warmers. When it comes to going into nicely air conditioned stores in the summer they’re great for those little tiny legs. Not to mention it’s so much easier to change a diaper with leg warmers than with tights.
You look amazing! So glad that the girls are doing so well in there! Thoughts and prayers to you and your family as you start to live life without your wonderful dad. He will be with you always!
I’m due in 5 weeks or less with my second baby girl and I still can’t get enough of the headbands/bows! (even after having a ton with my first!) That stuff is so cute!
I love when you give your weekly updates!!! So exciting!!!! I have my first ultrasound on Monday and I can’t wait!
We are going to a friend’s daughter’s 1st birthday party, and I am sure she would love these!
You definitely popped these last couple weeks! You’re looking cute as ever. Glad to hear the babes are doing well! And I just LOVE the adorable stuff you got from Chic Pipsqueak! Ohhh my, I’m obsessed with the big flower headbands on little baby girls too. So cute!
I’m so glad to hear all is well with the babies! How exciting! I look forward to hearing more updates!
So cute! My brother and his wife are expecting and they’re having girls. I love little girls! They are the cutest and you can dress them up in adorable dresses
All babies are precious, but it’s definitely more fun shopping for girls!! (I have one of each.) I’m so glad to hear how well your pregnancy is going, and that they’ve hit that milestone. Hopefully they’ll have many, many more weeks to grow and be ready when they meet the world for the first time!
Congrats on having twins!! I’m due with my little girl in 5 (give or take) weeks! So excited!
You look great! Glad everything is going well for you and the girls!
I’m so sorry about your dad, my Children’s papa just passed away about a month ago. Congrats on your two peas in a pod.
flower hair bands are amazing!
congratulations! You look so healthy and beautiful! My friend’s wife is pregnant with her SECOND set of twins and due any day now. Their first set was two boys and their second set is a boy and a girl so I’ve been on the lookout for cute girly things!
I love reading about your food cravings. They are so random and totally crack me up!! Tator tots? Yum! I think that I am almost always craving them
.
I’d love to win and use it to spoil my niece coming in July!
Chic pipsqueak has so many cute things! I would definitely get stuff for my cutie 8 month old niece!
So happy your babies are doing well and are healthy. Now that school’s out, I know I’ve been getting a lot of time to get things done and get caught up on rest. I hope you can too! Rest and ENJOY!
You look incredible - especially with everything you’ve been going through. I love your healthy attitude about your pregnancy. And those chevron leg warmers. SO cute.
Glad to see you back posting
You really did pop since your last picture!
Those girls sound BIG! My boys are measuring small - but I come from a VERY small family… was hoping to get some of my husbands genes in there but I’m not sure that’s gonna happen (my grandfather was only 5’2″!!!).
Congrats on hitting viability. That was a tough one for me because I felt like I was in limbo zone for 4 weeks. I will be 28 weeks tomorrow and I feel a lot better about that. I will say, definitely keep resting even if you haven’t gotten restrictions from your doctor. My cervix has been fine the whole time - no funneling or dilation or anything, but yesterday I ended up in L&D and my uterus was irritable from growing so quickly (small contractions that I couldn’t even feel!!!). Luckily my cervix is still holding up, but the doctor said the best thing I can do to keep pressure off of it is to lie down as much as possible and drink a ton of water. You are about to hit a big growth period in a few weeks and that’s when things start going crazy and way more pressure on your cervix. I hope this doesn’t sound preachy or anything, just trying to give you a little heads up since I’m just a few weeks ahead of you!!!!
I kind of feel like I’m in limbo too. It’s like I knew if God forbid, something happened in the pregnancy before this, there wasn’t a chance they would survive, but now I’m in that weird period where they could or could not. I want to be at 28 weeks too! lol.
I’m sorry you ended up in the hospital yesterday! How scary! How did you figure out that you needed to go if you couldn’t feel them? I always freak out because I have no idea what to even look for with contractions.
Don’t worry, I’ve been taking it ridiculously easy - Sitting down and taking naps more than anything else.
TMI - but a little blood in my discharge. Went to the OB first and they checked my cervix, baby A is head down and low so he’s putting a lot of pressure on it. They sent me to the hospital to be safe, thank God everything is fine and I’m so happy to get checked and not worry. I did start feeling Braxton Hicks in the past week when I stand up too quickly, it’s hard to feel bc the babies take up so much space, but I can def feel it tightening. Another friend of mine had the irritable uterus too and she also wasn’t able to feel the contractions. It’s frustrating to not feel anything!!!!
I’d love to win-gotta spoil my new niece. I love that you used the phrase “duking it out”-so cute!
Glad to hear everything is going well for you. Thanks for the giveaway! I have a three month old niece that the bows would look adorable on!
My second niece is due at the end of July, so this would be the perfect gift!
My husband and I’s first child is being born in just about 10 weeks or less, and it’s a girl! I would love this gift card to get some cute little accessories for our baby girl.
What a great find! You look adorable:)
You look wonderful….so glad to hear they are both doing so well! Take care of yourself <3
Those chevron leg warmers are so cute! I have a 15 month old girl and I am due in 4 weeks with baby #2 and would love to get some cute things for the new baby (gender unknown…).
Would love to give those as gifts to my sister in law.
Lookin’ good, mama! Glad to hear you and those overachievers are doing so well
My hubs and I just had twins in February - a boy and a girl - so I’d love to score some headbands and leggings for my daughter!
You’re looking great!! I’m so happy to hear how well they are doing! Also, those chevron leggings are the cutest things ever!!! My first niece is due ANY DAY NOW, and I’m so incredibly excited to spoil her with lots of adorable baby items!

So clever. I have a friend right now who is expecting, and I would LOVE to gift her with some cute stuff from there!
Thanks for the giveaway!
xo.
What cute headbands and bows. They would look so cute on my new baby niece that was just born!
You look fabulous! As long as you and your doc feel comfortable with your weight, thats what matters. Have a great day!
Sounds like you’re taking good care of yourself, glad to hear the girls are doing well! I’m sure your dad is smiling down on you.
My sister just had a beautiful baby girl back in April and she was born with a huge head of hair! She loves adding things to her already cute hair style. I am glad you are feeling better and remembering to enjoy your time!
I am in love with those little pink chevron leggings!!
You are looking gorgeous!!! What adorable headbands…sooo super cute!!
Congrats on your babies’ stats & viability benchmark! It always feels SO GOOD to get confirmation from the doc that everything is as it should be, doesn’t it?
I’m expecting a baby boy in August & those little hats & legwarmers on the Chic Pipsqueak website are so cute!!
Looking fantastic as always!!! You’re going to have such a ball with two girls on your hands…my little niece is 5 now, like a princess, love when girls are in to girly things!
those leg warmers as so adorable! I’d love to get some for our first baby due in November!
I’m only a few weeks behind you! I love reading your posts so I know what to expect!
Such cute things! Although my 9 month old is a boy, my 4 year old would look adorable in the leg warmers.

ha! we could be twins -w ell not really - but I’m also carrying twins - identical girls and at 24weeks they measured exactly the same as yours — 1.10 and 1.9. My belly is double yours though - but i’m a bigger girl - i’m 5’9 , starting weight 155lbs - i’ve gained about 40lbs so far I think - - anyhoo congratulations and good luck with the rest of your pregnancy -you look AWESOME! God bless you
You are so freaking cute!!! I recently had a baby boy and would love to get him some cute things from this shop!!!
So glad to hear you are doing better and the girls are doing well too. I’m sure your dad is watching over you and knows all about the baby updates
I was actually born at 24 weeks and weighed 1 lb. 10 oz.! And that was back in 1988, so I’m sure everything would run smoothly if the girls were to come early. It’s amazing how much technology advances they have made since then!
Congrats!!! You look great! Pregnancy tends to fly by! I just hit my 35 week mark
Just found out that we’re expecting our second daughter and can’t wait to check out chic pipsqueak. Those headbands and leg warmers are adorable! Best of wishes with your little girls!

glad you’re back at it! this would be a great giveaway because 3 of my girlfriend are due in october with babies-that’s a lot of shower gifts I need to buy!
Congrats on viability! I can’t wait to be the winner of that gift certificate! I’ve got a 19mo cutie who needs some new hair clips.
What a perfect baby shower gift! Thanks for the giveaway.
That’s great that your girls are doing so well!!
I love baby girls in headbands too - yours are going to be so well dressed!
I remember feeling relieved when I hit the viability mark as well. It’s just a little more reassuring. I am SO a big bow mama for my little girl. She’s a year old now and everyday she is wearing something on her head
There is the cutest little onesie on Etsy I have been wanting to buy that says “the bigger the bow the better the mama” haha. You look so great to by the way!
I don’t have any little girls, but I have girlfriends with babies who would love these! It would make for a perfect gift!
Those accessories are so adorable! My husband and I are expecting our first baby (a girl) in 3ish weeks, so I would love to win this giveaway.
I LOVE little baby girl headbands too…thank you for having the same taste
. I’m not a huge lover of pink, but I said that if I had a little girl (because we didn’t find out the sex beforehand), she would be in headbands to make up for my lack of loving pink haha!!
Hi, Chels! You are looking fantastic! 24 weeks makes your little girls sweet little cantelopes (or ears of corn depending on the website)
Glad you are feeling well, too, and that you are now in summer mode! Perfect for a mama-to-be of 2! I love reading about how things are going-kinda like watching the girls “grow up” ! I’m enjoying watching C & G’s wee one “grow” too (theirs is either a bell pepper or a sweet potato!)
We are so sorry to hear about your dad…all of you have been in our prayers, and we will continue to do so.
Get plenty of rest and drink lots of water…oops, that’s the mama in me coming out
Hugs!
haha! I love how you are referring to them as their respective fruit and vegetable size. You must be a grandma to be!
How exciting for you!!!!
Thanks for your condolences about my dad - we have all been doing okay and are very peaceful knowing he’s with Jesus and no longer in any pain!
