Jibber Jabber.

That’s been your MO for the past month or so. What used to be real words coming out of your mouth has turned into a different language all of its own. You know what you’re saying, Aubrey is SURE she knows what you’re saying, and Emerson also communicates with you. But your mama? Your mama is stumped on the words that are coming out of your mouth. So, I play along.

"Yeah?"
"Really?"
"Is that what happened?"
"Wow! That’s so funny"

All the while, you answer me with your jabbering - the expressions on your face crack me up when you get into your little conversations. The other day you were talking to Aunt Kirstin on the phone, and you were talking a mile a minute. I couldn’t help but just sit and laugh hysterically at everything that was coming out of your mouth.

Your teeth are now coming in by the mouthful it seems like. You cut those 4 teeth last month, and I swear they just keep coming. While you’ve been sleeping fairly well at night, I know there are some nights that you’re in pain when you whimper in your sleep.

Can we talk about sleep for just a second now? Yes, your nights have been great. But those naps? Ugh, those naps. You’re in this transition phase where one nap is too little, but two naps are too much. It would be one thing if you slept late in the morning, but you’re usually out of bed by 6:00 or 6:30. Not that you really want to be up. I think you’re going to be a "don’t talk to me until I’ve had my coffee" kind of person. You do NOT mess around in the morning. You need your snuggles, your pacifier, and Mickey Mouse before you even think about giving out a smile.

You continue to know what you want, when you want it, and nobody better mess with you… or else. You’ve never met a banana you didn’t like, and you’d happily eat 5 of them a day if I let you. The only way that you’ll eat meat these days is if it’s coated in ketchup… and even then, sometimes you just use the meat as a vehicle to eat more ketchup. Blech.

This month you’ve gotten a little better at playing by yourself when I’m at home. In the past, when your mama is around, you’d rather be at my legs crying to be picked up. Thankfully, you’re learning a little bit of independent play and you’ll happily play with something while I make dinner/fold laundry/etc. Your favorite place is still on my lap though, and you let me know it if your sister is sitting near me.

I’ve decided something about you, B. All this time I’ve been giving you directions to see if you can follow them and comprehend what I’m saying. You’re a smart little thing… and I totally know that you understand every single thing I am telling you. Instead, you would rather ignore me completely, do your own thing, and look back at me and give me a sly smile when you’re doing the exact opposite of what you’re supposed to do.

… are just two of your favorite things to do. Other than squat down to Charlie’s level and make your "baby" voice to talk to Charlie and ask for kisses. He LOVES that. I’m glad you love your Charlie - except for when he knocks you over, that is.

You are happiest around people where you can explore. You walk around waving your little hands in the air, all the while screeching for everyone to hear. And don’t get me started about when you see your daddy. The other night you cried and cried and cried because you saw him outside shoveling the snow, and you wanted him inside. I finally had to call him and tell him to get inside because you were having a major meltdown.

You are such a little hunny, that’s for sure. Your personality is too much to handle. We’re going to be in trouble some day!

You, my dear child, never stop moving. Somewhere in your little Buddha belly, I swear there is a motor that just keeps on running. I’m not sure how you have the energy that you do, but man oh man… you keep your mama on your toes… and tired. Exhausted, really.  You just do not stop moving… all. day. long.

Which is really no wonder that you continue to give me two fairly good naps each day and why you crash the moment we put you to bed at night. You’re running on empty by the time it’s time to go to sleep! You’re not quite in the transition phase for naps like your sister is. You need your sleep… and a lot of it. Even though you wake up relatively early every morning, you’re ready for a nap by 8:00 or even 8:30 each morning.

I’ve been surprised that you’ve only had one or two wake ups in the middle of the night this past month. One day I looked in your mouth and didn’t see any new teeth, and suddenly you have two molars and are working on a third. You’re also cutting two bottom teeth and another top tooth. All those chompers are coming in - finally!

You are a kissing machine. You’ve always been overly affectionate, but this month has taken the cake.

Okay, so do we see a theme here? You looooooove babies, like LOVE. Every time you see your little cousin Ava, you want to go to hug and kiss her. Thankfully, she loves it. You’re such a little mommy, that’s for sure. You don’t discriminate though - you kiss just about anything. Someday we will have to work on the whole "we only kiss our family"… but for now, it’s adorable.

While you used to fall asleep just about every single time you were strapped into a car seat, you have found something new to do while we’re driving around these days. You have made it a habit of taking off your shoes and your socks… just straight piggies for you. Apparently you like to feel the Chicago winter temperatures between your toes. Whatever you want, girlfriend.

Someday, somehow, we will get your pacifiers (yes, plural) taken away from you. I’m guilty of being that parent that said "Pssh, they won’t have those pacifiers past six months". Womp, womp. The other day you were standing up in your crib and refused to go to sleep…. because you only had one of your wubbanubs. You needed both of them. It’s okay - you won’t head off to college with it… right?

Drama drama drama. That should have been your middle name, although Faith flows a little nicer.

Don’t get your way? Cue the water works.

Life is so hard.

It’s a good thing you’re pretty darn cute. I guess it’s no surprise, because… come on, you have a pretty dramatic parent (and I’ll give you a hint - it’s not your daddy). With that being said though, you are still the sweetest little thing ever, and I love watching you learn new things every day.
