I might as well jump on the Holiday survey bandwagon, shouldn’t I?
Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
I never knew Santa didn’t wrap presents! Presents from Santa have always been wrapped in my house. In fact, my mom never kept any presents in the house before Christmas. She always brought them over to my aunt’s house because we could not be trusted. We were snoopers for sure and could be found scavenging through our parents’ closet, through the crawl space, in my mom’s trunk. You name it, we looked for it.
Colored lights on tree/house or white?
White lights all the way! I think white lights are so classy and elegant. The Husband wanted to get blue LED lights for the outside of our house, but I vetoed that incredibly quickly last year. Instead, we have white LED instead. Stayin’ classy folks.

Do you hang mistletoe?
No.
What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?
My favorite holiday dish — oh gosh, that’s just too hard. My family always eats the same meal on Thanksgiving and on Christmas, so I have to say stuffing with gravy. I could eat stuffing every day. So delicious.
Favorite Holiday memory as a child?
When we were little, my brother sister and I would wake incredibly early in the morning. Okay, scratch that — my brother and I would wake up early and go wake up my sister. My parents had a “no presents before 6:30 AM rule”, so we would all jump into my sister’s bed and watch A Christmas Story until my parents would wake up and let us open presents in the morning.
Snow? Love it or dread it?
Love love LOVE it! While I hate driving in it, I think snow is so pretty. It also helps that I enjoy snow days as well. I think I was the only person in Chicago who, last week, was upset that our 2 inches of rain wasn’t the equivalent 20 inches of snow.
Real tree or fake tree?
Fake. Real trees make me sneeze. Plus, there are no pine needles to clean up. Win, win.
What’s the most important thing about Christmas for you?
Celebrating the birth of Jesus.
What is your favorite Holiday dessert?
Fudge! Or last year, my aunt made me a flourless chocolate cake. That was to die for.
What is your favorite tradition?
Everything about the holidays is a tradition for me. The Husband just doesn’t understand my need for traditions with everything. My family started a new tradition in the past few years of actually getting together on Christmas Eve instead of just on Christmas with our extended family. I think now since we’re all moved out and have our own families, it just makes sense for us to all go over to my mom’s, load up on Italian food, and open the presents we used to open as a family on Christmas morning.
What tops your tree?
A silver star. It’s simple and I think we got it from Target, but it’s pretty!
What is your favorite Christmas Song?
I seriously cannot choose. I love the classics like I’ll be Home for Christmas, but I also love the Christian Christmas songs that are on the radio as well.
What do you leave for Santa?
Nothing. I’m sure that will change when we have kids though. We used to leave cookies on a plate that was specifically for Santa. We would write a note too!
Do you have a Christmas morning tradition?
Opening presents and then eating cinnamon rolls. Last year I made these, and this year I’m planning on making a variation of these. So so good.
Do you prefer to shop on-line or at the mall?
I would rather shop at the mall the day after Thanksgiving and then do online shopping for the rest of the season. I don’t know what I was thinking, but yesterday I thought it would be a good idea to head out to a major shopping center. Yeah, crazy.

THANK YOU for vetoing the blue LED lights! hahaha! it shocks me, to this day, when classy neighbors display such terrible trashiness of blue! (mario lemieux is my neighbor, so these neighbors do have class, believe me!). WHAT IS IT with blue lights? another adorable post, CEC!
x
White lights all the way! Cute post
What a fun post!!! Fudge and flourless chocolate cake…YUM!:)
I once asked my mom if we could get an organic fake tree. She didn’t know what to say to that.
I’m with you, until seeing somewhere say that Santa didn’t wrap presents on this survey somewhere else, I didn’t realize that was even a possibility!
Oh, and white lights all the way!
I am so out of the loop on all things Xmas….first, husband is Jewish so all the trees, carols, lights, not really a tradition we do. Not that he minds but I don’t really feel like singing jingle bells and away in the manger by myself.
Add to it the fact that we’re GONE the month of Dec and traveling…our tradition is to travel to our sunny and warm happy place. And we do our Chanukah/Xmas here.
Love these Q & A posts!
Definitely on the white lights bandwagon! Bonus points for the tree being pre-lit!
these are so fun to read everyone’s answers! i really appreciate your answer re: the most important part of Christmas to you. it seems rare that i hear people say that the birth of Jesus is what truly is important. and i love your tree - so beautiful! i absolutely agree, i love white lights. they’re so elegant and classy.
yes! celebrating the birth of Jesus. So good, isn’t it?! I love going to christmas eve service as a great reminder of that. oh and of course the christmas story movie!
Haha my sister and I were always the same way on Christmas morning - we’d be up at 5 am jumping on our parents’ bed to wake them up!
white lights outside, colored lights on the tree!:)
I honestly can’t wait for you guys to have kids and start some traditions of your own…so much fun! And we don’t even do Santa. Christmas is magical!
Love this survey! I need to get on the bandwagon and fill one of these babies out! They look so fun!
I had no idea that Santa didn’t wrap presents at some people’s homes- Shocking! ….I was such a snooper too! The worst!
I love your traditions- they are the things that make the holiday <3 ….My mom makes an extravagant Jesus's Birthday cake every year to help us celebrate His birth- it is AMAZING!
PS- *SNOW* = LOVE!
cinnamon rolls is such a great xmas morning tradition! i think i’ll be making some this year!
That christmas tree is so pretty! I love the way you put the red flowers throughout it(:
Thanks Olivia! I saw a tree in a store that was decorated that way last year, so we bought all the things to make one of our own!
Do you make the cinnamon roll dough gluten free? If so… Tips please! Cinnamon rolls sound yummy
I loved reading about all of your traditions!! I definitely agree with you on the snow- the more white stuff, the better- although I have to disagree on the tree. My family has always had a live tree that we hunt down and cut together, although if they made me sneeze I might feel otherwise.
aww I love the fact that you celebrate it mainly for Jesus! Without Him, Christmas would have never existed
And I love your tree!! It really is classy. And you two are so cute…
Favorite Holiday memory as a child? Staying up with my sister till “Santa” came to our place…we ended up stuffing our faces with cheese crackers and passed out before we knew it hahah!
I wish we had chosen white lights when we began decorating our tree. We opted for LED and needed about 12 packs for the tree. That’s one expensive mistake which we’re not willing to go back on until the lights begin to bust. Your tree is so pretty!
Love these questions! Especially the most important thing to you about Christmas! I would have the same answer. I am in awe when I think about it.
I was always a little snoop too! One year I actually unwrapped one of my gifts and rewrapped it because I wanted to know what it was so bad! lol. No one ever even knew!
I’m LOVING your Christmas tree! It’s gorgeous
I love love love the snow too!
1. I love your tree!
2. We got a real tree this year but I think it will be our last. The dog runs into it constantly and I have to vacuum every 5 minutes #OCD
3. That picture of you and The Husband makes me happy!
