pink, blue, and purple

November 13, 2010

Last night was of course even more crazy than my normal Friday nights. I don’t want to share details because this blog is G rated (okay… sometimes PG rated), but it included gluten free pizza, the Husband, and my parents.

In all seriousness though, it was a really good dinner. I had planned on staying home and making dinner for the Husband, but then I had a horrible drive home (insert freight trains and horrible traffic here) and the last thing I wanted to do was cook. Instead, we got to hang out with my parents and eat the most delicious pizza I have ever had.

Something I love about daylight savings ending is how it gets light out earlier again. When I woke up this morning at 6:30, I honestly leaped out of bed to capture some pictures of the beautiful sky.

Everything was pink, blue, and purple.

A wonderful way to start my Saturday.

Although I wished I had a better camera and the trees weren’t in the way.

And if I were a better photographer, I would have used the trees to my advantage.

I’m still learning people.

The sky inspired me to make a gorgeous breakfast.

You had to have known this was coming. And if you don’t believe me when I say this is the best bowl of oats ever,  you  need to try it.

  • 1/3 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup water (I’ve upped the water – I like soupier oats)
  • 1/3 cup almond milk
  • splash of vanilla
  • 1 tsp flax and chia seeds
  • 1/2 banana sliced in

Heat all ingredients in a small sauce pan and whip bananas until smooth. This method is entirely Kath’s – but it is a good one nonetheless.

Topped with:

  • 1/4 cup pumpkin stirred in at end
  • cinnamon
  • 1/4 chopped apple
  • cranberries
  • Smucker’s All Natural PB scoop

I’m fueled, I’m ready, and right now I just looked out my newly washed windows and I’m angry there are raindrops on them.

Time to go take my frustrations out at the gym!

Anyone want to do my laundry today? I pay in pumpkin cookies.

Question: What are you doing on this beautiful rainy fall Saturday?

Have a day of rock climbing ahead of me - my first. Excited about trying it out.

And how many cookies in exchange for doing laundry? LOL.

Pretty pictures! I actually really like the trees in them, they make it look even prettier and really artsy.

I’m spending my foggy Saturday working from 11am-8pm. Fun? Definitely not, but tomorrow I get to spend the day doing whatever my heart desires.

You’re way ahead of me this Saturday. I plan to hit the gym… soon… give me another hour…

Sorry Friday was a little stressful- but pizza makes everything a little better! ;)

As usual I’m the only one out of bed (it’s 9:30!!) so I’m taking advantage of my alone time and getting some paper writing out of the way. Fun right?

A trip to the humane society is in my future however.

Those photos are gorgeous! I like how it’s light out early in the morning now too. But I do NOT like how it’s starting to get dark before 6! :(

Mmm yes pumpkin + apple + banana all in the same bowl is amazing!

I wish the sun here rose at 6:30 a.m., but sadly we have to wait until 9 a.m. to see the light of day here. (I live in Alaska.) Those oats look delicious! I need to try adding pumpkin to mine!

Okay but how stinking cool is it that you live in Alaska?

I was just thinking how lovely those pictures were when I read the bit afterwards - they look great!
But I think the most impressive bit is, you were awake at 6.30am on a Saturday to take them :-)

If I did volunteer to do the laundry and I found a 20 spot…would you let me keep it?

Sunrise looks beautiful. I liked the trees, actually. Being the Florida girl I am, leaveless trees are a novelty for me. (0:
