four things

December 30, 2010

I should have known when I woke up with a headache today, threw off my sweatshirt, and exclaimed, “It’s HOT in here!” that something was not right.

I’m never hot.

I’m always cold.

Oh yes — sick again. I wish I knew why I kept getting sick. I do know though that today is the first time I have taken Advil in say two years or so. I burned up all day long and was freezing at the same time. I finally called the Husband and told him to bring some home so I could take it. I’m mad that I had to take medicine, but one pill later and I’m pretty sure my fever is breaking.

There was food today — there was good food. But I really don’t want to talk about it. You can just drool instead.

Apple Pie Oatmeal for Breakfast….

Open faced avocado, tomato, and hummus sandwich & spinach salad topped with more avocado and hummus for lunch…

One of the best concoctions I have made for quite some time in the kitchen for dinner. This was obviously after the medicine was taken. I’m not sure what to call it, but a recipe will follow perhaps tomorrow.

Cheesy Chickpea Quinoa served over a bed of wilted greens…

I never knew I could be so fancy while sick.

What I really want to talk about is this circa 2000 survey which has been circulating around the blogosphere. The lovely Holly has asked me to pass it on, so I’m glad my nostalgia for the sixth grade is taking me back…

Four TV Shows I watch

  • Modern Family
  • The Middle
  • Glee (when I can)
  • The Today Show

(It was really hard for me to think of TV shows as I don’t really watch anything regularly.)

Four Things I’m Passionate About

  • My job (elementary teacher)
  • Adolescent girls’ body image and self esteem
  • Living a healthy lifestyle (food, exercise, mental health)
  • Being right (seriously…)

Four Words/Phrases I Use Too Much

  • Ridiculous
  • “like”
  • “Are you kidding me?”
  • However (when I write)

Four Things I’ve Learned from the Past

  • Being perfect isn’t attainable, nor is it fun
  • Let the small things go (still a struggle)
  • C’est la vie (That’s life)
  • Sometimes the hardest things you have to do in life are in fact, the best for you.

Four Things I’m Looking Forward To

  • 80 degree weather
  • Taking my pup to obedience school so he stops jumping on me and visitors
  • Summer break
  • Sleeping tonight

Four Things I Love About Winter

  • Christmas
  • Winter break
  • The first snowfall
  • Having an excuse not to go anywhere or do anything

Four People I am Tagging

Janae — LOVE her. If you don’t know her, you should. She’s one of my BFF Bloggers

Missy — Missy is such a fighter and always leaves me the most hilarious comments on a daily basis. Thanks for always reading!

Chelsea — Obviously because she has the same name as me.. and she was brave yesterday. :)

Lauren — We would be real life friends if she didn’t live in CO. Maybe that’s an excuse to take a trip?

Question: Take one category and answer it for yourself! OR Tell me how much you are sorry that I am sick today, not that I’m fishing for sympathy or anything.

Goodness, this is the second time I’ve seen a thermometer on a blog and thought it was a pregnancy test! You had me wondering for a quick second. :)
Sorry you are sick hun. But at least it’s at the end of your vacation. That would have been awful to be sick over Christmas. (many people were this year).

Take care and get lots of rest.

What is it about the avocado tomato hummus combo that is so addicting?

I hate being sick. Its pretty much the only time I ever wish I had a husband. ;)

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey December 31, 2010 at 7:20 am

I don’t know - it’s very addicting though!

Being sick + a husband doesn’t really add up to anything spectacular, I can promise you that. :)

I already did the survey but I don’t remember my answers so I don’t want to be incongruous by posting different ones :)

love the same shows! :)

hey, what are some of your fav sources of protein? And when you use hummus do you consider it a protein??

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey December 31, 2010 at 11:39 am

I sure do consider hummus as a protein - mainly because I eat much more than the 1 tbsp. serving suggestion. I probably use close to 4-5 servings! Whoops…

Other sources of protein:

1. gluten free oats (7 grams per serving)
2. peanut butter (7 grams per serving)
3. many unpictured nuts - walnuts, pecans, cashews, almonds (approximately 6 grams per serving)
4. beans, beans, beans (approximately 12-15 grams per cup)
5. tofu (10 grams per 1/2 cup serving)
6. quinoa (9 grams per 1 cup serving)
7. lentils (17 grams per 1 cup serving)

It is reccomended that women get 0.36 grams of protein per pound. Since I weigh around 135, that would mean at a minimum I should get about 50 grams of protein per day, which I am sure I hit on a daily basis!

2. Cool beans!
3. Seriously?
4. Yay!
