i’m loving it

May 8, 2011

1. Shopping. There’s nothing better than going shopping — especially when you get to go with one of your most favorite people in the world (aka: Mom). We hit up the outlet mall after we went to Sweet Tomatoes for lunch, and I got some really great finds, specifically from the Gap outlet.

2. Everlast Manicures — if you’ve never had one, get one. Although much pricier than regular manicures, it is a gel manicure and is comparative to getting acrylic nails but without ruining your nails and having awkward hands (anyone else not able to pick up things with fake nails?)

Basically, this manicure will last from 2-3 weeks with no chipping. Although I will have to go back in to soak off the polish, it is well worth it. I’m also hoping that in these two weeks my hands stop looking like a 90 year olds and more like a 23 year old. Seriously wrinkly skin?

3. Gardening — A few weeks ago the Husband built me a huge garden box in the back yard. I went out and got all my plants and seeds yesterday, and I am planting tomorrow. You have no idea how excited I am about eating my own vegetables this summer!

just a small selection

4. Vegetable skewers — because they taste like summer

5. My mom. You all know I love her and talk about her more than a normal daughter would — you can read a recap about why I love her so much
here.

6. The weather this week:

Let’s not focus on the rain — the chance of rain is less than 50%, which is fine in my book. Let’s focus on the temperatures. Seeing that Chicago has been bipolar for the last 2-3 months, this is a nice change. Let’s keep it that way Chi-town.

7. Books — I’m in a reading phase right now. I want to read everything and anything. Right now, I’m loving Hannah Kristen.

Question: What are you loving lately?

I am definitely liking the spring weather we’re getting in MA. :-)

And I love your nails! Such a great color.

I got a gel manicure for my wedding and it was the bomb.com. It lasted the whole week but the salt water made them start to peel off by the end. And like you said your nails are still in tact underneath which is the best part!

::whew:: so glad to hear your nails were still intact! :)

I just went shopping yesterday and spent a little too much time in the Gap outlet. I actually want to go back tomorrow to get a dress that I didn’t get but wish I had.

So glad you had a wonderful Mother’s Day with your mom. Shopping and manicures couldn’t be more fitting. :)

LOVING number 6! It was so wonderful to be outside all day today..no rain Chi town no rain. It was windy by the lake of course but I got seriously fried from being outside on a bike all day on the lake front path.

I’m loving watching movies! Random ones on tv, netflix, internet…anything really! I’ve heard about those gel manicures, my mom switched from acrylic to those and she really likes it so far. A manicure that lasts for weeks can’t be a bad thing!

I’m loving obnoxiously big rings from Charlotte Russe, sundresses, greek yogurt and interval workouts! (random much?! haha)

Cute stuff you picked up while shopping today! I loved finding some things while I went out shopping too. I got a bunch of new kitchen tools, which always makes me happy!

Our temps in Milwaukee are so much colder this week. We are supposed to get all of those lovely thunderstorms too. Boo. Just psyched about 60′s and 70′s. I think all midwesterners are!

I’ll have to try that manicure sometime. Sounds worth it.

And like you, I am in a total reading phase right now too. It helps that I just got a kindle to encourage reading more though.

Have a great week Chelsey!

I hate shopping!! I don’t understand the appeal at all.

I also don’t understand manicures, though I have never had one.

I do understand (and love) vegetable skewers.

And books.

Right now, I’m LOVING banana soft serve and the stationary bike.

I would LOVE to go shopping! It has been too long. Probably two years since I have done any spring/summer clothes shopping. More? Likely.

Love those stretchy waistband shorts. They are super cute and look super comfy too!

Reply

That was the thing I love the MOST about them! I’m all about the comfort!

Reply

Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine May 9, 2011 at 7:10 am

I love those manicures, but my nails grow REALLY fast, so I end up having visible growth after like a week. Annoying. PS- you don’t actually have to soak them off!! If you very carefully pick at an edge, you can lift the entire piece of polish off your nail at once. I amused myself by doing this once while Mike was playing pong forever.

I’ve never had a gel manicure, but I’m intrigued. Acrylic nails creep me out though (the damage involved, mostly). I am loving vegetables again.

Love the blue clothing! So cute for spring and summer. Your nails look awesome…I’ve been dying to get one of those manicures but cringe at the idea of spending the money. Maybe one day when I really want to treat myself!
Lately I’m loving the berries in season, wearing skirts, and watching reruns of How I Met Your Mother.
Have an awesome Monday!

I was amazed when I got gels. I washed the dog, dishes, cleaned house, etc and nothing. It was awesome. The only downside was that I wasn’t told about coming back to get the nail soaked so my nails were wrecked when I took them off myself. Good thing you know!

Leanne @ Healthful Pursuit May 9, 2011 at 1:10 pm

Apparently no one in Calgary, or Alberta for that matter, knows what an everlast manicure is. I just called about 8 different places and you could hear their confusion over the phone… I need to find this.
Also, I had NO idea you were only 23!

I have had really good luck at the Gap outlet too! And I got one of those manicures a few weeks ago and it really did last two weeks but my nails felt so weak after and that was always the thing I hated about acrylic nails. They sure do look good, though :)

I am dying to start a vegetable garden! Are you going to do a post on how it gets set up? I’m mostly wondering if you are filling the entire box with one kind of soil. Also, does yours have a drainage system? Happy planting!!
