saturday shopping spree

April 23, 2012

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you had a weekend full of good food, relaxation, and fun adventures! I feel like this weekend flew right by – it was jam packed of fun activities, specifically on Saturday.

Without fail, every Friday night I proclaim that THIS weekend will be THE weekend that I finally sleep a little later in the morning. Uh, yeah, this weekend was not THE weekend. Instead, it was the weekend that Charlie would not let me sleep past 6 AM because he wanted to get up and eat his breakfast. Luckily, once I let him out and fed him, he went right back to bed, so I did as well. I laid in bed reading 11-22-63 (finished it!) for about an hour until I fell back asleep until around 7:30. Then it was time to get my booty out of bed. I changed, grabbed a banana, and took Charlie on a 35 minute walk so he could get some energy out.

When we got back home, I quickly changed and got ready for the day ahead. It was going to be a busy one! First, I had a brunch date with Kathleen. It seems to have become a monthly tradition for the two of us to meet up at Delia’s Kitchen, which is located in Oak Park. It’s a halfway point for the two of us since we unfortunately live about an hour away from each other. I tried to stray from the meal that I usually get, but just couldn’t. I ended up getting a vegetarian egg white omelet, a side of fruit, and gluten free toast. (!!!!!)

Delia’s also has gluten free French toast as well as gluten free pancakes. Now you know exactly why this is my favorite place!!!

We spent a while catching up, but then we parted ways. She went home to clean (yuck), and I went out to shop (yay!).

It seemed like every single store in the mall was having incredible sales this weekend. It just so happens that this weekend was the weekend I finally had money to go shopping. Win, win! I really had to stock up on some basic essential pieces for the summer. I got a few fun pieces, but most everything are everyday must haves!

First up was the LOFT. Typically I get a 15% discount whenever I shop because I am a teacher, but yesterday everything in the store was 40% off! Talk about a deal! They have these amazing shorts right now in about every single color imaginable, so I got a pair in a bright coral/orange color and brown as well. I really want to go back and get a pink and a khaki pair as well. I also got a pair of jean shorts that fit like a glove and a fun nautical looking striped shirt. It’s loose and is kind of on the shorter side, so it’s meant to be worn with another shirt underneath. I really like it!

April 22, 2012 003

I also went to Old Navy to stock up on a few essentials. I love their tanks for the summer months, but all the tanks I have I bought years ago (like 3-4 years). Seeing that I wear tanks under other shirts all year long, I was long overdue for a few new ones. I got 4 tanks, two pairs of flip flops (the best plain flip flops in the world if you ask me), a pretty coral color dress, and a white eyelet skirt. I’ve been looking for a new white skirt for about a year, and I’m glad I finally found one. The one I previously had was from Target, and while I loved it, it was time for it to go last year after 3-4 years of use.

April 22, 2012 004
At JCPenney, I bought two racer back tank tops, a cobalt blue tee, and a really cute sweater. The sweater is short sleeve’-ish (??) and it pretty sheer. It will be a nice piece to wear with shorts or capris this summer.

April 22, 2012 006
My last stop was Kohl’s, where the Husband met up with me. We always try to take advantage of when they send us 30% off coupons in the mail! I ended up getting a pair of white jean capris, a pair of black capris for work, a green short sleeved blouse for fun, and some gold sandals.

April 22, 2012 008

I also went to Target yesterday and picked up a pair of these.. just because. Oh, and I got this dress the other day – I love it!

It was quite a successful shopping trip if I do say so myself!

The Husband and I ended our day with an early dinner at one of my favorite restaurants, Cooper’s Hawk. They had a great gluten free menu, and any restaurant that serves me a hunk of gluten free bread before my meal is the best in my eyes! I actually went to Cooper’s Hawk with one of my friends on Wednesday night, but I’m definitely okay with having it twice in one week!

And now begins another week. I know i promised some people an update on acupuncture for this morning, but I’m going to wait until tomorrow to post it.

Question: Have you gotten any new pieces for the summer yet? What has been your favorite purchase?

You go girl! Looks like you made out! That’s funny because Kohl’s is the ONLY store the husband will go to too! We live for the 30% off coupons. :)

I have that loft shirt! I wear it with an oatmeal colored tank under and love it! I’ve gotten lots of complements on it.

I have a cocktail party Friday night so I got an adorable ruffled dress from Ann Taylor at 40% off this weekend. Can’t beat it!!

Your purchases scream summer - I love it! The coral dress from Old Navy may be my favorite. Summertime always means “buy more sandals and dresses” time. I’m obsessed with unique sandals right now. It’s kinda dangerous!

Love the new clothes! I need some new shorts, and usually love Old Navy’s so might check them out this week. I have bought a couple dresses online from Topshop (should be here this week), then a couple tops from RW&Co but they are more for work. I always feel I need more tanks for the summer but with working 5 days a week I really do not need that many. But I am sure I will buy a few new ones, I always do. haha

I wanted to hit up Old Navy this weekend to restock my tanks too but it didn’t happen. After seeing all your new clothes though now I want to go! It’s so easy to just wear work out clothes every single day when you work from home but I really should try and be more presentable so I think that requires a shopping spree :)

I just bought not one, but TWO white skirts from the Limited.com. They had a 40% off thing going a week or two ago. I’ve literally been trying to find a white pencil or tulip skirt since 2007. So I bought them both, just in case I didn’t like the fit of one. I figured I’d take the other back to a local store - but I’d better get them both for now, since they were 40% off. And, of course, I love them both. Why does life have to be so difficult??

;)

I could definitely use more tees and sun dresses. I love Old Navy for that sort of stuff. Snagged some black flip flops from them the day after Christmas for $1…just broke those bad boys out last week!

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey April 23, 2012 at 7:06 pm
