One thing I love about living in the Chicago land area is the fact that I get to experience all four seasons. I go back and forth on which one is my favorite, and I always go back to fall. The crisp morning temperatures, the soups and chilis, the activities – I just love it. Ashley posted a fall bucket list last week, and I can’t help but join in on the fun!
Question: What are you looking forward to doing this fall?

Love this….I’m planning one for Friday. I’m looking forward to apple picking too. I’ve never been before, but always wanted to.
It’s a blast! And super cheap too!
Love this! I’m looking forward to going to a football game and apple picking!
I went apple picking yesterday right near Rockford. I loved that it was a small farm. and they actually did U-pick (I guess not all in the area are allowing it this year). It was Valley Orchard-I will be posting more about it in the next day or two.
Thanks for the tip! I’venever been up there!
I love this idea! My fall bucket list includes some serious fall cleaning. It’s gotta happen.
haha I bet my husband wishes my fall bucket list includes that!
The #1 item on my fall bucket list is to go running through my city’s arboretum once the leaves have changed on a crisp, cool Sunday morning. I think that the high I get from that will be enough to carry me through the depths of winter!!
That sounds perfect!!
I LOVE fall!! Top of my list is def baking lots of pumpkin items. And eating them.
Agreed.
Ooooh pumpkin seeds! I’ll put that on my bucket list!
I want to hike at Starved Rock sometime this or next month, too! Well, there or Matthiessen
I’ve never been to Matthiessen!
I used to live in Florida where the seasons are nonexistent. Now that I live in Boston, I have to say that Fall is by far my favorite holiday! I love how you can FEEL it coming. I love the idea of a fall bucket list, I’m definitely going to have to do that this year!
I agree - love the crisp feelingin the air!
Love Starved Rock! One of our favorite places to hike. Check out Matthieson while you’re out there. Very cool state park to hike. Obviously I’m in the Chicago area as well - wondering where you go apple picking? We’re looking for a new place.
I’ve actually never been to Matthieson! We always go to an apple farm out in Coloma Michigan, but I have to call and see if they’re even doing u-pick this year!
The local county fair!!! I’m taking four 11 year olds out of school all day Friday for a fun day at the fair. (I guess I shouldn’t be telling a teacher this!)
I’m going to tell on you!
I reeeeeally want to go apple picking too, but are orchards even letting us after the brutally dry summer?! I hope so because that would seriously make my life. Please pass this info along to my husband, or better yet, I should totally do a post like this and conveniently have the post open when he chooses to use my laptop hahah.
Yeah, I have to call ahead and see which ones are allowing u-pick!
I think my favorite item on your list is to eat a caramel apple! They’re my fave treat!
I think #1 on my fall bucket list is to go for a couple runs in the river valley once the leaves change colour and start to fall. I love that crunch on the ground!
That sounds gorgeous!
I cant wait to go apple picking, make and eat pumpkin seeds and hopefully eat a candy apple!!
I love the last one-eating caramel apples is definitely one of the best parts about fall!
i LOVE the idea of fall bucket lists! i’m originally from the chicago area and have hiked starved rock a few times - it’s beautiful in the fall!
excited to see what new soup recipe you come up with
I’m running out of ideas!!! I need to start thinking!
All of those things are on my list too (except for Starved Rock…I used to live in Chicago, so that would have been an option, but now that I’m in Minneapolis, I want to hike up by Duluth)! I’d just add that after apple picking I want to make an apple pie!
Apple pie is my favorite!!
Haha I’m doing this on Friday! Love your list, Fall is by far my favorite season so I want to make the most of it! What is Starved Rock?
A state park out by Ottawa-it’s gorgeous!
caramel apples…. YUM!
Agreed! When do you want to get together lady?
Camping with family….I hear Turkey Run is just as pretty, if not more so than Starved Rock. I hear that you will have to present a stamped ticket from Turkey Run in order to ride the fall hayride at the Nastepniaks this year……
You’re a sneaky one Lan - and I told you, I promise it’s not because I don’t want to come. I’m working on a one nighter with Mindy so I can make sure I can do my assignments for grad school.
Love it! I’m looking forward to making a bunch of soups too… Yum!
I want to go apple picking, go to the pumpkin patch, complete my half marathon, and run a Thanksgiving Day race!
I’ve always wanted to run a thanksgiving day race!
I wanna decorate my house for Halloween this year
Oh that sounds fun!
Mmm we were talking about caramel apples at work yesterday. I can’t wait! I definitely need to hike a mountain too.
Unfortunately we have no mountains around here!
That’s something I wish we had here in Florida. Seasons! I’d love to go apple picking someday!
Seasons are the BEST!! I don’t think Icould ever live in a warm place all year round!
I would have to agree with baking pumpkin seeds, and add something a little extra to them, carve a pumpkin, and find a new pumpkin flavored recipe to make! Also, drink as many pumpkin spiced lattes as possible!
Definitely with you on those pumpkin spice lattes!
My parents and I are planning on going to Starved Rock too, it’ll be my first time there.
We’re also planning on going to Rock Cut Park. Both! I’m hoping to get some nice fall photos
It’s gorgeous there!
Eating as much pumkin/squash as I possbible can are on my list:) Definatley want to get a few hikes/fun in the beautiful outdoors too! Your list is awesome! Gotta love them carmel apples.
ha! I busted out the roasted squash the other night and ate so much my stomach hurt. Guess I was a little too excited!
Fall is definitely my favourite time of the year! I’ve been seeing alot of dipped apples in blog land lately - I’d be happy to make & eat some of those!!! I’d also like to go to a Halloween party, go hiking with my new Canon once the leaves start to really turn colour and have a bonfire with friends.
That sounds like a great list!
I love fall too. I am definitely looking forward to a bonfire. Cider and donuts at the cider mill. My half marathon. Hiking.
mmm donuts!
I’m going to try to bake a pie that’s out-of-the-ordinary for me. I always stick with apple, pumpkin, and pecan. This season, I’m going to try something new (for me) like rhubarb, sweet potato, or anything with “maple” in the title!
I’ve actually never had a rhubarb pie!
trying new foods and trying new pumpkin recipes and trying some baked oatmeal recipes and also mabye experimenting and creating some of my own new recipes
You go girl!
Carve a pumpkin is on my list too! I haven’t done so in years!
Can I just steel all of your things on your list!? The carmel apple one is really sticking out to me:) Have an amazing day Chels!
Absolutely - as long as I’m allowed to steal your baby.
I’ve never gone apple picking before, so that is definitely on my list this year. Other things include making apple and pumpkin pie, going to trader joe’s and stocking up on their fall pumpkin items, and trying out some pumpkin beer haha
Pumpkin Beer sounds delicious! I wish someone made a gluten free one!
I hadn’t thought about making a new soup recipe…I should really add that to the list! Definitely with you on a hayride and apple picking!
I’ll agree to that whole list! I just LOVE Fall too.
I’ve already kickstarted it with my first Honeycrisp of the year! (Dipped in Justin’s Maple Almond butter? Heck yeah!)
I had my first honeycrisp too - they’re SO good!
Fall is my favorite season too, and I’m working on getting my own Fall bucket list up soon
So far I’ve got apple picking, pumpkin carving, decorating, and making pumpkin pie.
Looks like a good list! Ps - I kept forgetting to update my reader with your new URL, and I just did it. Finally!
Fall is my favourite too! Things I want to do this fall are go apple picking, go to the homecoming football game, bake something with pumpkin, make applesauce, try my first pumpkin spice latte, and go on a hike!
your FIRST PSL?
I want to bake more this fall and create some new recipes! It was so hot in my apt this summer that I never wanted to turn the oven on. I would love to make it to a football game too!
You and me both!!!
I cannot wait to go to a local corn maze…at night (with flashlights, of course)!
oo scary!!
Pumpkin carving and petting farm with the baby! So many fun fall memories to make!
Aw I love it! Create new family traditions!
Apple picking is on my fall bucket list too! I can’t wait for chili and cornbread, carving a pumpkin (then roasting the seeds), and going to a football game. I love the fall!
This bucket list is inspiring me to make my own! Apple picking is definitely on mine along with make a no-bake pumpkin pie. And of course, carving pumpkins. Even in my twenties, I am never too old for it.
I love Fall because I love fall fashions, I love foggy days, I love when tasks slow down & when family picks up.. I live in southern California, so we definitely don’t experience the seasons like you do, but there are still so many things I love about fall! I love pullin out my Hunter rain boots too! That’s the best
Fun! This is such a great idea! I especially want to go search for a pumpkin this year, it’s something I’ve always wanted to do!
I really want to go to Gainesville (my old college town) and see a Florida football game. I haven’t been to a game in years, and I think it would be fun to show my hubby my old “stomping grounds!”
Colorado definitely gets to enjoy all four seasons too. I could go straight from Fall to Spring, but I guess other people who live here actually enjoy winter… My list would include wearing boots, scarves and sweaters and drinking more Pumpkin Spice Lattes than are probably necessary
