WIAW - way too hot!

July 17, 2013

My goodness, yesterday was a busy day – and I sure felt it when I was at home relaxing in the evening. I only have a few pictures to share with you from yesterday. I got caught up in lunch and didn’t take a picture of that. Whoops! It was also incredibly hot yesterday – so hot that my appetite was barely non-existent. I ate what I could, but I’m sure I’ll be making up for it today with some big hunger!

Let’s get to it!

Breakfast – 8:30 AM

After a very broken night of sleep, I rolled out of bed somewhere in between 7:30 and 8:00. I think I could have slept for four more hours. Instead, I got up and lounged around for a little bit before I dug into my overnight oats in a jar that I prepared Monday night. I made this batch of oats with about 2-3 tablespoons of peanut butter still left in the jar. I was just feeling it. ;) And now as I’m typing this I am realizing I have no peanut butter for today’s breakfast. Crap!

Lunch – 12:30 PM

My mom and I spent the late morning/afternoon running errands together. Our first stop was IKEA where I bought some shelves for the nursery as well as a few picture frames. Afterwards, we headed to Naperville. Before our next stop, we stopped for lunch at Flattop Grill. I didn’t capture a picture of my stir fry, but my mom was pretty impressed at how much I was able to put in my bowl. It was quite a balancing act, that’s for sure! Even more exciting, I got my bowl for free because I had an email for a free birthday bowl! (My birthday is next Tuesday)

After lunch, my mom and I went to Naperville Running Company so she could get some new running shoes. I was so jealous of her, and I can’t wait to get some new kicks when I have these girls. I will definitely be heading into that store as well because they take the time to find the custom fitting shoe for your foot. My mom ended up with a pair of Brooks running shoes (not sure of the model). So so jealous.

Dessert – 2:00 PM

My mom and I made an impromptu stop into Le Chocolat, a chocolate shop in downtown Naperville. Neither of us had ever been in there before, and we decided to take a seat an enjoy a small flourless chocolate cake between the two of us. It was SO SO good. I think it would be a fun location to have a girls’ night out as they have a great menu and take larger parties in a private room upstairs. I think I just might have to plan one of those!

Dinner – 6:00 PM

Despite not being hungry at all, I heated up some leftovers from dinner on Monday night. I knew I had to eat, so I just sucked it up and ate the leftover pasta. I told the Husband he was on his own for dinner because I was so darn tired from running around the entire day. Poor guy.

After dinner I got a nice surprise. About a month ago I witnessed a pretty bad car accident and was the one to call 911. There were a few people/cars involved, but the one who was most shaken up was a 16 year old who had to go to the hospital. I called his parents and stayed with him until they arrived because I could tell he was really scared (he had just gotten his license a week before). Thankfully, he was okay! They stopped by last night to thank me in person and brought me a card, flowers, and chocolates. So so sweet!

Aaaaand currently it’s only 6:45 on Tuesday night, so I’m planning on having one or two snacks before the night is over. I think a protein smoothie might be in my future to keep me nice and full until the morning! Plus, the coldness of the smoothie will feel wonderful in this horrible heat!

I’m planning on writing a books post for tomorrow. I’m hoping that by putting it in writing, that will mean I will actually do it! ;)

Oh my god how could you possibly not have a stash of PB! I always have at least 3 unopened jars…:) usually different varieties so I can choose depending on my mood when one runs out.
Nothing like chocolates to cheer one up! Always a lovely surprise even if it was a result of a crash..hopefully it’s long forgotten about.

I love hearing stories like the one about the accident. Even though it was terrible, you did a great thing by staying with him! Chocolate cake in the middle of the day…nothing beats that!

That was so sweet of you! I was in a bad accident pretty quickly after getting my license as well and it is quiet terrifying…so glad he’s ok!

We’re are under a crazy heat wave as well and I’ve been leaving on smoothies and salads! It’s so hard to eat in this kind of weather. I hope you find some relief soon!

By books post I’m guessing you mean your to-read or recently read list? I’ve loved when you’ve done those in the past!
Also, that was so nice of that family to stop by and thank you like that!

A little bit of both! I don’t think it’s going to go up until Monday thouugh. I haven’t felt well all day and need some time to relax!

I can’t wait to read your books post because I’m completely lost in my selection! I seem to peruse Barnes and Noble but nothing peeks my interest. It is so nice the parents stopped by to thank you and it was really nice for you to stay with the 16 year old after the accident. I know when my car got totaled from a woman hitting me, my parents would have loved to know there was someone by my side.

Btw, the chocolate cake looks SO good and a chocolate shop is definitely a perfect place for a girl’s night! I wish I lived closer because I would definitely attend!

It might not be going up until next week - sorry! I haven’t felt well all day and just need some time to relax tonight. I think 30 weeks pg with twins will do that to you every once in a while. ;)

That is such a sweet gesture for them to stop by and thank you! I’ve been watching a lot of cop shows recently (namely Rookie Blue) and every time I see an accident or something bad happen I always pause a moment and think about how I would react. You really never know what kind of person you will be in a situation and it’s awesome to hear that when your true colors shine through in a scary situation you are shining like the rainbow!

Ha. Ha. I totally meant what I said above, but I now reread that and know how cheesy it sounds. But I will leave it up because I’m sure someone can use a good smile :)

You can never have too much PB, right? You better get out there and get stocked up so you don’t run out when the babies get here! ;)

Broken up sleep I know what you mean. It was terrible, I couldn’t wait to sleep without my belly. :)

Oh my everything looks delicious. I really have to make overnight oats one of these days. And Flattop Grill is so good, it is so sad the one by our house closed. What can I say about that chocolate cake. I could use a good piece of chocolate cake right now. :)

You aren’t kidding about this heat. The heat index in here today is over 100! I sweat going from the house to the car. My appetite has been MIA lately, and now I’m wondering if it’s due to the heat, probably! How wonderful that the running store takes time to really fit the shoe to your foot. I have a really narrow foot, but I’m tall and wear a big size. I always feel like my feet are flopping around in my shoes.

Hoping you were able to get in a nap or 2 today and stay in the AC!

The peanut butter concoction looks pretty good! I’ve started stocking almond butter in the cupboard too, it makes a great breakfast shake mixed with frozen mango, cinnamon, stevia, and water.

That’s so nice that they brought you a ‘thank you’ in person! People don’t typically do that kind of thing anymore!

Flourless chocolate cakes are the bomb! I made (and ate) one a few weeks ago that was basically just pure cream and chocolate… it was so decadent!

Aww that was really sweet of you to help out that teenager! Just goes to show what a great mom you’re going to be. ;)

Oh, I hate when I run out of PB! It’s the worst! ;-) The cakes looks wonderful!

That’s so nice that you stayed with that boy until his parents arrive at the hospital.

Madeline @ Food Fitness and Family July 18, 2013 at 12:40 pm

I want that chocolate cake. Like now. Dang pregnancy!

Also - that was a really nice thing you did for that boy and his parents. I am already scared of when Em gets her license but knowing there’s people like you in those situations makes me feel a little better :)
