29 weeks pregnant with twins

July 16, 2013

I always have these grand intentions of writing a Monday post, but apparently that went out the window on Sunday again this week! We were having too much fun with the Husband’s family on Sunday and didn’t get home until around 9. Since I didn’t have a nap on Sunday, that meant it was time for a shower and bed. :)

This week’s picture is a little goofy. I went out to dinner last night with one of my oldest friends, and she was telling me her sister was asking if I was HUUUUGE or not – so I told her to just take a picture.

photo (40)
I am huge! haha – I measured myself over the weekend and it was somewhere in between 36-37 weeks (for a single baby).  I seriously had no less than seven or eight strangers just on Sunday ask me if I was due in the next few weeks/days. Nooope.

Weight Gained: I’m not sure – I have a doctor’s appointment on Thursday, so I’ll share my ever increasing number in next week’s post. :)

However, if you missed it last week, the girls were weighing in at their ultrasound at 2 pounds 13 ounces and 2 pounds 11 ounces. Almost 6 pounds of babies!! Well, probably at least six pounds of baby by now. That is well above the average for 28 weeks, which is what I was when that ultrasound took place. I’m so happy to know they are thriving in there!

Symptoms: Just a few that are continuing from last week…

  • Swollen Feet (at the end of the day if I’ve been up and moving around a lot)
  • Round Ligament Pains: I thought I was out of the clear on this one, but they came back with a vengeance this past week. It mainly happens when I’m getting out of bed. I think the weight of my belly is making those ligaments stretch to their limit!
  • Overall difficulty getting around: My belly feels so heavy all the time, and I’m starting to feel sore/pains down my inner thighs because of it. Ouch! My mom actually bought me a support band over the weekend to wear when I’m out and running errands or doing things around the house. From what I can tell it really helps!

Movement: They are movers and shakers in there, that’s for sure! I notice they are pretty quiet during the late morning/early afternoon. But every other time, they move like crazy – not necessarily kicking, but I can feel their every movements since they are getting much larger.

Food Cravings: I think I ate an entire pan of lasagna this past week. Actually, I did. ;) I made lasagna for dinner Thursday night, and the Husband had one serving for dinner that night. The rest of the pan was eaten by me Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I seriously had it multiple times a day – for breakfast too. I’ve also been loving fresh produce – I bought some peaches on Saturday as well and they are delicious!

Food Aversions: Nothing really.

Sleep: Sleep has been pretty good this week except for waking up pretty early. That just means I get to take a nap during the day!

Stretch Marks? Still none – I think…. I’m not sure if what I see right above my right hip is a stretch mark or part of a vein. However, I’m starting to think that stretch marks are pretty inevitable with a twin pregnancy. I’m betting I start seeing some in the next 2-3 weeks. I did read though that olive oil is good for stretch marks. Anyone else ever hear that?

Miss Anything? Not having to worry about my caffeine consumption. I am always sooooo tempted to get a venti iced coffee from Starbuck’s when I go occasionally. Instead, I cry and stick to my tall.

Looking forward to: My next baby shower in a few weeks!

Belly Button in or out? Half in, half out!

Happy or moody most of the time? Maybe my husband would say otherwise, but I’ve been pretty happy!

New Baby Items: My mom bought the girls some outfits last week at the Carter’s outlet. She is already spoiling them WAY too much! Today I’m heading to IKEA for some shelves and picture frames for their room as well.

Exercise: I’m counting a few things…. walking around an outlet mall on Wednesday, watching my niece scrub my floors on Thursday ;) , running errands on Saturday, and cleaning the bathroom yesterday. Honestly. Exercise.

That’s all I’ve got for you this week – only a few more days until I hit the 30 week mark! That seems so exciting to me!

You are so cute!! Also - who in the right mind thinks it’s EVER ok to ask a woman if she is due in a few days??

You have the perfect baby belly! After seeing your Instagram it looks like last nights sleep wasn’t your friend last night.

Why thank you! I feel like I’ve gotten super lucky and only have gotten a belly. My mom always tells me that I still have a waist from behind (thank GOD! ;) ). Nope, sleep was hoooooorrible last night. That’s okay though - I have no job to go to today!

Cutest bump ever (and maternity jeans)! :) Yes, my cousin used olive oil (and sometimes coconut oil) on her bump and hips during both pregnancies and she only has the stretch marks she acquired before starting the “EVOO ritual”. She used it after her pregnancy with Leora, and she said that it made any of the ones she did have fade quite a bit!

Love these bump updates, I check every Tuesday morning for them!

Interesting! I’m going to have to try it out then!

What a great photo! I’m not a mom but I’ve heard coconut oil works at least as well as (if not better than) evoo for preventing stretch marks. Smells yummier, too!

I’ve been using coconut oil when I get out of the shower!

You look so great! I know I said it last week, but I am just so happy for you that the girls are growing like crazy! Almost three pounds each already seems awesome for even a single baby, much less twins! ;)

haha - yeah, they are big girls! That makes me so happy because if they’re early I would rather them be weighing nice and big!

This is random, but I love the color of those jeans - super cute!
You’re looking great, Chelsey! It’s crazy that you measure at nearly full-term for a single-baby pregnancy. I know nothing about pregnancy with multiples so it’s always so interesting/exciting to read that kind of stuff!

I don’t think you look huge in all honesty! You look beautiful! I used bio oil for stretch marks and never got any. The good news is even you do, you will see those faces and stretch marks will be the last thing on your mind :-)

You look great!

I am currently 17 weeks pregnant and I am just dreading the next few months when I get big and people start to say you look like you are going to pop or strangers touching my belly! I am going to flip out!

As for stretch marks, I have a friend who had twins and she used Bio Oil daily and she said she didn’t get any stretch marks! Worth a try! I am going to pick some up for myself!

Now I am craving lasagna!

I missed a Monday post too haha!!! Welp, there’s babies in that belly, that’s for sure ;) . You look so good though!!! I would love to know how it differs (for feeling in your belly) for carrying one vs two babies. I can’t even imagine what it’s like to have two little sets of feet kicking you!!

I swear your pregnancy is going by so fast that I’m going to blink and you’ll be posting about your birth experience haha

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey July 16, 2013 at 5:50 pm

I wish I could tell you the difference, but because I’ve only ever had 2 babies in my belly, I can’t! I can definitely tell the difference between the two of them - baby A always kicks low, baby B always kicks my left side near my rib cage. And both of them loooooove to stretch out and make me super uncomfortable! ;)

LOL - I guess I should have said my BELLY looks huge! Thank goodness my body decided to carry all the weight in my stomach!

Your face cracks me up in the picture. I would probably be the one who says, “YAY, take a picture of my bell-ay bell-ay”. And you’re so blessed to be having twins, seriously! I always said to my mom I would love it because I would know both of my children would never be alone!

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey July 16, 2013 at 5:52 pm

hahaha - that was basically what I said! I am loving the fact that these two will always have each other. I also told John we better have another set so the next child isn’t left out. ;) He begs to differ.

I’ve never been pregnant, but I think you look great! You honestly look from the picture like all the weight is going to your stomach (where it should, right?)… you have no butt! :) You just look so happy! Thanks for sharing the journey with us.

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey July 16, 2013 at 10:28 am

bahahahahah! Funny you should mention my butt - I told my husband at the beginning that if I gained a few pounds in my butt I wouldn’t be disappointed. Now the fact that my stomach is so huge accentuates the fact that I have no booty!

You look adorable!! You’re totally not huge, I promise. :)

I have this belly rub stuff-it seems to be helping me so far? xo

:) Thanks lady. I’ve been doing coconut oil when I get out of the shower and cocoa butter before I go to bed! Oh, and drinking a crap ton of water. I think that makes a huge difference!

Ummm…I’m not pregnant and I totally count cleaning and walking around the mall as exercise.

When I look back on it, it has gone by soooooo fast. I have moments at least once a day where I think - “oh my gosh, I’m going to have two babies in a matter of WEEKS!”. It totally freaks me out sometimes. ;)

Sarah @ A Refining Adventure July 16, 2013 at 11:10 pm

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey July 16, 2013 at 4:57 pm

LOL - it IS! I went to IKEA and shopping with my mom today, and I just sat down on the couch for the first time in six hours. I am so wiped. The Husband will have to be happy with a sandwich for dinner because I cannot muster any more energy to be on my feet any longer.

I’m only pregnant with 1 little baby and I counted ‘assembling a pack and play’ as exercise this week! I think the closer you get to your due date the more creative you get with workouts…giving myself a pedicure now feels like a full-out yoga session! :)

How sweet your mom is spoiling them already! I can imagine it would be hard not to! Mike’s mom comes in tonight, meeting Rocco for the first time! She wants to buy him a couple things, so we are going to the Carter’s outlet this weekend!

Happy week love! <3

I hope so! I have a feeling with a twin belly that it’ll be quite a challenge to get rid of it. ;)

Yay for Rocco’s grandma meeting him! How exciting! (And how nice to have an extra pair of hands around the house this weekend!)
