1. I’m not going to lie guys – I have had the HARDEST time motivating myself to blog lately. Most of it has to do with pure exhaustion at the end of the day when I have time to blog (growing two babies is apparently hard work), but some of it is pure laziness. And then another part of it is that I have NOTHING else on my mind except for these girls. Like seriously – 95% of my thoughts focus around them at this point. What they’re going to look like, if they’ll be big enough when they’re born, etc, etc, etc. I doubt you all would want to read my rambles every single day about that.
2. On Wednesday morning, it was gorgeous outside. Like, so beautiful that I had to throw on a zip up hoodie when I woke up in the morning. That just seems crazy to this lady who hates being cold, but I am never cold lately. If this summer could be in the 60’s and then next summer it could go back to being in the 80’s next summer, that would be awesome.
3. Guess who’s still playing the waiting game? Poor Courtney! I’m hoping that today will be the day that her and Jay will be meeting their little guy!
4. Last night I made zucchini banana bread for me and zucchini muffins for my mom (I just used a few random recipes online and modified them). It is always SO hard for me to not dig into freshly baked bread the second it comes out of the oven.
5. Have you seen this post from Katie yet? She is planning on homeschooling her sweet little girl who just turned two and shared some fun activities she has been doing with her. Even if homeschooling isn’t your thing, these are great suggestions for your 2-3 year old as they are learning new things every single day.
6. I watched my cousin’s little girls yesterday – Mia is my goddaughter and is almost two, and Ava was just born in June. I decided at the end of the day that two newborns seems easier than a toddler and a newborn. I guess I’ll be the judge of that soon, huh?
7. I’m hanging out with my mother in law this afternoon and getting a manicure and pedicure as my birthday present. My poor pups need a pedicure like no one’s business!
8. School starts in like 3 weeks. 3 WEEKS. Granted, I’m not even sure yet whether or not I’ll be starting the year off (I’ll be going back after the girls are born though) but still. Where in the world did this summer go?
9. It’s Friday, people. Do a little dance. Happy weekend!

I hope Courtney has the baby soon! I was exactly one week late and was really hoping the same for her!! I’m always cold too, but when I was pregnant in winter, I would be sleeping at night with the covers OFF. I felt like such a bad ass
haha
Okay, I knew today was the day - she posted a picture on IG of her in the hospital a little while ago. I just didn’t want to spoil the surprise for anyone else. LOL!
Saw her pic too!! I am sure the baby has made it debut!
Zucchini banana bread…my all time favourite!!!! We’ll totally understand if you need a blogging baby break
Have a great weekend! Hopefully Baby Tooth will arrive!
I’m so bad about eating anything and everythig right when it comes out of the oven. I have burnt my mouth on hot chocolate chips more times than I would like to count.
I saw that Katie is homeschooling and I agreed that she had great suggestions! According to Instagram today is the day we meet Baby Tooth! Yay!!!
I knew today was the day too, but I didn’t want to spoil any surprises in case she didn’t make it public knowledge.
Happy Friday!!! Enjoy the pedicure
You just reminding me to schedule one for myself too…long over due! haha
I agree about the weather - I’m loving these cooler temps! 60s and 70s is my absolute favorite - I’d be happy if every day of the year were like this.
Enjoy that pedicure and manicure today!!
Oh my gosh I can’t believe school starts in 3 weeks!!! This summer flew by. I’m sure especially for you! How much time are you taking off?
12 weeks!
Zuchhini bread is one of my favorite summer foods! I’m the same way, I have to have a piece when it comes out all warm out of the oven.
Hi Chelsey, Just wanted to remind/warn you that foot massages can trigger labor. I’m not saying don’t do it, but at least make an informed decision when you get your pedicure! And I completely agree with you about summer flying by this year!
Hi Maggie - I’m aware of that one! I always ask not to get my feet massaged.
I’m pretty sure I am the ONLY person in the midwest complaining about the “cold” weather this week- I swear I was supposed to be born on the west coast!
hahaha - if it were any other summer, I’d be complaining too. But right now, I’m LOVING it.
I cannot believe that it is almost August! It seriously baffles me. Before you know it it is going to be Thanksgiving/Christmas..scary!
Also, yay for zucchini bread and yay for Friday!!
This summer is FLYING by and I can’t believe it’s almost the start of a new school year! WOW! What grade do you teach? I just graduated last year with secondary math certification but haven’t found a job due to knee issues. Yikes! I’m contemplating whether or not to start Master’s classes! It’s all a big question mark.
I need a pedicure so.bad. My little piggies are definitely not attractive enough for flip flops right now.
I teach 5th grade - I love it!
Summer really is flying by! Enjoy the Mani Pedi!
Thanks Laura!
What!! I can’t believe your school starts in three weeks! That’s seriously unreal - how did Summer fly by so fast!
I LOVE zucchini bread, but only if the zucchini is pureed because for some odd reason I hate the zucchini strands in it haha.
Enjoy your mani and pedi! I need one bad.
haha I’ve never gotten a “strand” - I always just shred it!
totally had to wear a sweatshirt yesterday…it was nice, but i’m still not ready for fall! 3 weeks is crazy!!
GO Friday! I SO need a mani, its killing me.
It’s so exciting to see someone else taking the leap into homeschooling.
As a home schooler in senior year (been doing the homeschooling thang since middle school) and has been in both public/private school settings, I can say confidently that I would not be who I am without the wonderful decision my parents made (in the face of heated opposition) to take my education into their hands. I truly believe that it is the parents’ responsibility to raise up a strong member of society, grounded in their values. And don’t even get me started on not being able to talk about my faith in the public schools (grrr…).
We need more parents like Katie! And good luck with 3 wks left till school, I feel for ya
And thanks for the good luck - however, I’m still not sure whether or not I’ll actually be starting the school year so I’m not feeling too panicked!
school starts in 3 weeks!???? are you joking?! I feel like summer just started! gahhh! Hopefully the weather will be kind to you the rest of your pregnancy!
Ugh…I feel ya. I start inservice in A FREAKING WEEK (for 2 weeks I might add - whoever’s bright idea that was needs to crawl back in the hole they came from), and students come in 3 weeks. Boooo!!! I love what I do, but I think I love summer more.
I think you’re right, a toddler and newborn is probably harder than 2 newborns. Toddlers are exhausting! Only a few more weeks!
Stay home with your babies. Do not go back to work. You will not regret it!!!
Believe me, I’d love for that to be an option. Financially though, it just will not work - mainly because i’m the insurance carrier for our family. Perhaps in the future but for now I have to suck it up and head back!
What a weird comment! Don’t you think lots of people would “just stay home” if they could?! For many families it’s just not financially possible. Also, sometimes moms WANT to work! Sorry, I don’t even have kids yet but comments like this bug me!
Three weeks already? My niece and nephew just got out of school a couple of weeks ago. They get six weeks off for Summer at their school.
you will never again have a single moment when you’re not thinking of your children. even when you don’t realize you’re thinking of them, you are. and if mommy brain hasn’t set in yet, it will. get used to writing everything down or it didn’t happen.
hahaha - right now I’m blaming the forgetfulness on “pregnancy brain”, but I guess i’s just mommy brain in the making!
Hope you had a good day yesterday and are enjoying a relaxing weekend!
Thanks for the link, mama! Enjoy the last drops of your summer and the cooler temps! We just went to the mountains for vacation, and it was cool there…and surprisingly, I enjoyed it too!
I know you haven’t been in the mood for tons of blogging but I’m dying to know what you have been reading. I always get great ideas from you. You are looking great! Hope you had a great time getting your nails done and a great weekend!
I nannied for a family with twin girls (which I’m sure is totally different than being their mama!), but it seemed like having two kids on the same page and knocking out all the lessons (like potty training, etc) in one go made it a tiny bit easier on the parents!
I totally agree on that one! I’m looking forward to them always having a buddy to encourage them through milestones!
I could read about your baby girls everyday! Blogs are about your life and your blog should reflect that
I hope you had a nice birthday and remember you will always share that day with your dad. I think everything happens for a reason and truly believe you were born on the same day for a reason as well.
I would have wished you a happy birthday sooner but I was away on vacation! I thought I would have a week worth of reading to catch up on once I got back
Enjoy the rest of your summer break!!
Thanks for the sweet comment Deanna! My actual birthday was okay, but Saturday when we went out for dinner with the entire family was hard!
Zucchini banana bread ? That sounds kinda weird but could be cool. I’m going to try this on the weekend. Thanks for a super cool idea!
