currently…

August 1, 2013

Well, I’m currently under the weather with a great summer cold. Do you know what’s even better than being sick in the summer time? Being sick in the summer time when you can’t take anything since you’re pregnant – woohoo! ;) I actually went to the chiropractor yesterday, and he thinks my lymphatic systems are having a hard time draining/detoxing because of the whole growing two humans thing. I had a lot of tender spots in my shoulders (where one of the lymphatic systems are), and he thinks they are pressing on nerves which is making my arms/hands hurt and that it’s not actually carpel tunnel due to pregnancy. Interesting, right? It kind of makes sense because I didn’t start feeling the pain until I got sick. Weirdly enough, my hands didn’t feel quite as bad as they have all week this morning (he worked on massaging a few of the tender points yesterday). We’ll see if it goes away!

Instead of being down in the dumps about being sick, I thought it would be fun to do a “currently” post about some thing I’m loving lately.

Currently Reading…

All Things New by Lynn Austin

source

I am a HUGE Lynn Austin fan and have eaten up just about everything she has written. My favorite books by her are While We’re Far Apart, Until We Reach Home (probably my all time favorite!), and A Woman’s Place. The majority of her books are historical fiction, and she captures time periods just perfectly. All Things New is set just after the Civil War ends and is told from the perspective of a variety of people – a plantation owner who lost her husband in the war, a young woman who finds her views changing after the war ends, and a newly freed slave family trying to decide what to do with their lives. It’s a great read so far!

Currently Watching…

Orange is the New Black

source

Okay, so I’m done watching it because I flew through the first season in a matter of three days, but that’s beside the point. This show is a Netflix original, so unfortunately, if you don’t have Netflix, you’re missing out. It takes place in a woman’s prison and shows what life is like inside prison walls, but the show also flashes back to different character’s lives and allows you to see just why they’re in prison. I am in LOVE with this show. It is a bit vulgar though (the Husband came in one day when I was watching it and said, “well this does not sound like a very nice show!”), so if that’s not your thing or you get offended easily, it might not be for you.

Currently in the Nursery….

August 1, 2013 114

I am finally finishing up in there by putting some bedding in their cribs. We went with the Harper Collection from Pottery Barn Kids. We got a set in lavender and a set in bright pink. Unfortunately the bright pink set was not in the store so we had to order it online, but for now I can covet my lavender set. Now if I could only get the Husband to hang the wall decor… ::ahem:: (hint hint husband)

Currently Snacking On…

Larabars

Outshine Bars (strawberry and lemon for me!)

August 1, 2013 113 I don’t know why that picture is so extremely blurry. Not a fan.

Currently Craving….

August 1, 2013 109

Werther’s Original hard candies – yum! It started with me wanting something to suck on because my throat hurt the other day. Now, they’re just delicious.

Currently Researching…

Ways to turn breech babies. I want these girls head down! Well, sometimes I do – and then sometimes I get scared with the thought of delivering twins. The whole breech thing is hard enough for one baby – but for two? Turn babies, turn!

Currently Rejoicing…

The fact that I got approval from the HR department in my district to complete my fall graduate courses online instead of in my face to face cohort. While I’m sad I won’t be meeting with my usual group this fall, I am so happy I won’t have to worry about “going back” to class and taking time off from class when I have these girls. I can just call nana or grandma up to babysit while I go to Starbuck’s that is two minutes away to do my work. A break from mommy time and a nice cup of coffee – what else could be better? ;)

Currently Freaking….

out about the fact that the girls could be born THIS MONTH. (ps – how is it August already?)

August 1, 2013 105

Seeing that the average twins are born at 35 weeks (August 24th for me), it is a big possibility they could be making their debut in August. So so so so so weird. and cool. and exciting. and frightening. Yikes!

And with that I’m off to be a little productive this morning - I’ve got thank you’s to write from my shower on Sunday and some errands to run. Oh, and my Netti Pot is calling my name!

I’ve got that same summer cold…ugh! I feel so terrible that you can’t take anything for it, even if it will all be worth it in the end. Hope you feel better soon!

Oh, such a bummer you have a cold! I hope you feel better soon!

I love the linen for the nursery! Purple just happens to be my favorite color! ;-) The chocolate chip cookie dough Larabar is SO good!

Check your chiropractor about turning the babies. My son was breech and my chiropractor was able to get him to turn by a method called Webster Method. Its about the muscles around the pelvis area, they do not touch the baby at all. It worked for me!

Okay, I keep seeing ads for Orange is the new Black on Netflix, but I’ve totally been ignoring it. I’ll have to add it to the ever-growing list of TV shows I’m addicted to!

I’ve heard all about that Orange is the New Black show… I must watch it if you love it. I need a new laundry folding show. ;) LOVE the girls’ bedding! Adorable. And Werther’s hard candies are one of my favorite things. I always get so excited when I see them in a candy dish. I’m so sorry you’re sick. I had the cold while pregnant too, and you’re right, it SUCKS. I think you can take Tylenol Cold and Sudafed if you’re really desperate. Praying you feel better soon! Aaaand yes, CRAZY you could have those little ladies this month. Just crazy. And so freaking exciting! Yay!

I love Lara bars too- I haven’t found one of theirs that I don’t like! I am actually going to try the new protein bars they have soon, I convinced my local grocery store to start carrying them!

I can ALWAYS count on you for book recommendations. A little DM action when I’m at the library next?! haha. We JUST started watching ‘orange is the new black’ on Sunday (finished episode 4 last night), and yes, vulgar aside, it’s pretty funny! Me and the SIL have been enjoying it, but Tyler says he’s done (he pretty much has been watching it with the two of us to feel included ;) haha). I LOVE that crib set!!! I want to incorporate chevron into Nia’s room somehow…yes, even though she’s 8 months old! haha

I second asking your chiropractor about the Webster method as well as checking out http://www.spinningbabies.com. I’m only having one baby, but I’m super nervous about it ending up breech so I’ve been reading up. Mine still has plenty of time to turn, but I bet with two it’s already pretty cramped in there!

Lauren August 1, 2013 at 9:56 am

I always forget about how good Werther’s candies are until I eat one and then I pretty much go through the entire bag within a day or two. I’m so glad you posted these books because I’m looking for a book I’d like to read lately! Also, I know my massage therapist said there’s a certain massage point you can get at your feet which puts you into labor. Just something to think about later this month ;)

I’ve heard SUCH great things about orange is the new black, so I guess I’ll just have to watch it. I feel suckered into it now!
I always have a soft spot for werther’s because when I was a kid my Grandma used to carry them in her purse everywhere we went, so they always remind me of her!
That’s awesome you can do your courses online, I’m sure it will be a lot easier that way as a new Mama!
Feel better soon!

So many people have been raving about that show! I’m really curious to watch it now…I adore Laura Prepon from her That 70′s Show days.

Orange is the New Black is AWESOME, we downloaded all 13 episodes and we’re about half way through, we have to “ration” ourselves and not watch back to back episodes-highly recommend to most, give it a miss if most things offend you :)

I just discovered Lynn Austin a couple months ago and I’ve already read at least 6 of her books. Her stories are so inspiring. I will have to check out this new one.

I’ve been watching orange is the new black with my boyfriend. His roommate has Netflix so we like to take advantage of that. I love the show, it’s funny but yes also crude. Those hard candies are so good. They are usually my choice of candy when going on road trips, those and twizzlers.

I have been fighting a summer cold for the last week now! We had my sons first birthday Sunday and I was so nervous I would be too sick! I just loaded up on Tylenol cold and flu and pushed through! :) Luckily it turned out great and mommy wasn’t too ‘loopy’ from all the medicine! Ha! Hope you feel better!

Can I just tell you that I am totally ADDICTED to Orange is the new Black!?!? I’m on episode #9 and don’t want it to end! I’m only allowing myself to watch 1 episode each day….love love love it! Yes, it’s a bit vulgar, but once you desensitize yourself, it’s hard not to want more. I’m so into these girls lives! Can’t wait for the next episode….. and the next season!!!
Feel better soon Chelsey! Get on Juice Plus+!!!
