It’s been too long since we have actually had a good chat - I know I have been regularly updating you on the girls (okay, semi-regularly updating you), but I want to spew out the contents of my brain right now. I totally miss doing this! A while ago, I saw Jenna from Eat Live Run start the concept of a “Coffee Date”, and I totally loved it. I know a few of my favorites have also done them since then, so I thought I would jump aboard and do one myself.
If we were having coffee today….
… I would tell you about how I am on spring break and loving it. I do have to say though, that once I get out of school for the summer, I need to be on my “a game” in the stay at home mommy department. Guys, I don’t know how you stay at home moms do it. Maybe it’s because I thrive on routine and schedules, but I am already coming up with a summer routine/schedule in my head. Otherwise, I know I will stay in my pajamas or workout clothes all the live long day. I may or may not have done that a few times during this spring break already.
… I would tell you about how my heart is breaking knowing that my babes are already 7 months old. How?! How does this even happen? For all you new mamas out there, it goes by so so fast. As much as I groan every single time I have to get up out of my bed at 3 AM because someone is hysterical, these moments are fast and fleeting. So for now, I am going to love where we are at because I know once they are a little older, I am going to miss this stage so so much.
…. I would tell you how much I miss regularly blogging. For real. I wish I could keep up with it all, but let’s face it - something had to give. For a while I was letting exercise be the thing that got put on the back burner, but I missed it too much (for my health and my sanity). I’m back to working out most nights after the girls go to bed. I’ve been focusing on my running again, with a few strength workouts in the mix, as well as workouts from the Nike Trainer Club app (LOVE!). It’s funny how this postpartum thing goes. For a while (like 3-4 months) I was at a standstill with the scale. I had 10 pounds to go until I felt comfortable, and the scale would NOT budge. It was infuriating. A few weeks ago, BAM! It started up again. Darn those plateaus! (but yay for moving scales again!) And because I know some people will be jumping all over me wanting to lose weight - yes, I want to lose weight. For someone who had babies and is doing it healthfully, I don’t see any sort of reason why it is a horrible thing.
… I would tell you I have become a slave to Groop Dealz and Stitch Fix ( <~~ referral link, FYI). I got my first fix a few weeks ago, and in it were the most magical jeans ever to grace this tush. Unfortunately I had to send back the items I was not keeping before I had a chance to do a review. I promise I will do a review on the next box I get next month. I’m obsessed!
… I would tell you I only have 13 weeks left of grad school. Oh my goodness, you have no idea how happy that makes me. Even though I haven’t felt like it has been too too bad (except for when I procrastinate papers and then feel the stress the day before the paper is due), it has definitely been something that has been hanging over my head the past year and a half. Bring on the masters degree at the end of June!
… I would tell you how I long for a mini vacay…. preferably somewhere warm or tropical. Or somewhere like Disney. However, we are in “save for a new house” mode - I’ll take the lure of a new house over a vacation for a while!
… I would tell you I am so not ready to go back to work on Monday. This break has been far too much fun!
I’m hoping to have an 7 month update on the girls sometime early next week. Until then!

I miss your regular blogging too, if I’m being honestly selfish
BUT I totally understand. I’m so impressed you’ve been working out in the evenings- way to go!
I know it flies by (I have a freaking 2.5 years old what?!), but I can tell you that every stage is so much fun. Challenging in its own way, yes, but I have loved every stage a 2.5 is currently my favorite.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I really wished it was wine and how ready I am to have this baby. 5 more weeks left and I’m trying to enjoy it though I’m pretty much over it right now!
Oh I miss you! I miss your blogging, but of course I miss YOU more! Brunch at Prasino when I come back and visit you in Chicago.
Aww I missed you! Glad you are back
Hi!!! Was just thinking of you the other day and stopped by to see if you’d posted!! Nice to catch up and have virtual coffee!!! So jealous of you guys and stitch fix and well done for loosing weight at a reasonable rate in a healthy way and not being afraid to say you feel you want to!
x
I love seeing a new post from you pop up in my feed! Ah…schedule and routine - YES! I’m definitely the type that thrives best with a predictable routine. Although, we had spring break last week (I teach 3rd) , and a week to do as I pleased was very much welcomed! I say there’s nothing wrong with losing a few pounds. It’s important for you to feel good, and as long as you’re being smart and doing things healthfully, I don’t see how it could be bad.
Soak up your spring break!
Great idea for a post! And good for you for carving out time for workouts! I seriously don’t know how working moms, especially working teacher moms, balance everything AND find time to workout-I am only in charge of myself and it’s hard sometimes to juggle everything! Go you
So good to “hear” from you! As a fellow teacher, I cannot WAIT for summer! I see a lot of writing, running, relaxing, and traveling in my future.
Welcome back! I am like you (minus the excuse of two beautiful babies, do puppies count?) but if I have time off I fall into a funk really fast. I thrive on schedules and therefore need to schedule my days off or else I am the picture of a couch potato!
Nice to see your post today!!
I totally know what you mean about schedules! Going from the classroom to a SAHM (for the time being), I can say that it’s not always easy to keep the whole personal routine. Yes, the babies are on one, but it’s pretty easy to stay in pyjamas all day if you don’t schedule and plan life out in advance. That being said, I can only imagine how excited you must be for the summer break (not to mention be done school- I don’t know how you are doing it all)!
It was great having coffee with you…. as I’m really drinking my morning cup! My Spring Break was a couple of weeks ago and as always, it went by entirely too fast. Now the countdown for summer!!! Way to go on the running and weight loss…. nothing wrong with wanting to lose that last bit of baby weight. I’ve sure been there… it WILL happen. Hopefully, we’ll chat again soon.
P.S. Would love to hear more about the jeans you’re loving.
Enjoy the rest of your break/ weekend!
I really like the Nike trainer app as well. If I am ever in need of some “gymspiration” I often turn to that app.
I miss your regular blogging too… but your babies are more important!! It is crazy how fast time flies!!
I can’t believe how fast time has gone! My twins turned one last week! It’s insane how time flies. Good for you for finding the time to do everything! I’m a SAHM, and I’m so exhausted by the end of the day keeping up with one that is now walking! I really do need to make more of an effort to work out. I make an effort to do something with the babies everyday. Even if it’s a walk down the street to the coffee shop. I do try to take the babies to playgroups a few days a week. I find it makes a huge difference for all of us
I just did my first NikeTrainer app workout and loved it! Any recommendations?
Cannot believe your girls are 7 months already-freaks me out that Brecken’s 9 weeks…you’re right-it goes way too fast!
enjoy your spring break!! 13 weeks left of grad school?!?! YIPPEE!!!!
Spring break is the best
Even though I’m not a teacher, we took one this year and went to Florida…it was so nice to have quality time with my lady. Cannot believe they are 7 months…time really is flying and you are right, it is heartbreaking! Loved our coffee talk - need to do it real time sometime soon
xo
Seriously… how do you have twins, work, AND have grad school? I think you’re a fricken rock star. Just having one baby, no job and going to school nearly killed me last semester. I do miss your blogging, but I had to cut back on mine too. And, for the workout thing, I’m implementing it more because I had been in a rut, but now I realize how much I need it - for sanity purpose if anything, like you said!
You are amazing! How do you do it all?! go mama go! I actually just announced how I am leaving full-time work. I didn’t love it, I couldn’t do it all, and I want to be with my baby-it’ll be tough money/insurance change wise, but as you said, the lure of something greater will be key to keep in mind for me/us!
I want to see these jeans you are loving!!
WHY HAVE WE NOT DISCUSSED THESE JEANS!?!?!?!? My friend just informed me that I need a certain pair of high-rise j-brand jeans that steal away all evidence of my muffin top… um. what!? gimme! …along with a lottery win to afford them. Also, you’re my hero and we need to unleash the bebes on each other this summer. Hilarity shall ensue.
Good for you to be able to run after your babies go to bed! I don’t think I could-my baby is 9 months. I’m able to right after work a couple times a week. You’re doing great!
I get frustrated with those people who criticize others for wanting to lose weight for the right reasons and in a healthy way.
Whooo can’t imagine the busy-ness with twinsies, Chelsey! And I think I would be the same way-if exercise or blogging were in competition, I would have to go with exercise not only for my health and staying in shape, hehe, but it really helps relieve tension and stress. Natural happy pills, haha.
I love reading all your post and seeing all the pictures of your baby girls. I’m currently pregnant with twin boys. Due to a complication with one of my boys I have to deliver at 36weeks which is next Thursday May 8th. I’m having a c section… Starting to get nervous for that. I also have a 17 month old little girl so I’m going to be super busy once these boys come!
