What a week! I’m not going to lie, I kind of can’t wait until I get to about 30 weeks. I’ll feel so much better about these little ones once I get to that point. I feel like right now I’ve been in limbo for the past couple of weeks and been much more nervous/anxious than I have been this entire pregnancy!
I thought it would be fun to take a look at the difference between 22 weeks and 27 weeks in the picture below. Those girls have definitely grown, wouldn’t you say?
Weight Gained: Up 20 pounds and I feel like I am getting bigger by the day!
If I continue to gain the way I have been, I’ll be at the 35-45 pound recommendation in no time. I should have just listened to my mom and not freaked out in the beginning. She kept telling me, “don’t worry – you’ll gain it all at the end!” Aren’t moms always right?
Symptoms: Just an overall feeling of BIG. It seems like in these past two weeks, everything has gotten harder to do. Walking, getting up, bending over, rolling over in bed, etc. – these girls had a big growth spurt the last few weeks!
Movement: Yes, they crack me up. Whenever they’re moving like crazy, I’ll always have the Husband come over to feel them moving. Whenever his hand gets to my stomach, they immediately stop. It’s like they’re already playing games to drive their daddy insane. LOVE it.
Food Cravings: This week I loooooved smoothies, and really all things fruit. I got a huge container of the Outshine Bars from Costco and have been quickly making my way through the bars. I also had a huge craving for cottage cheese (??) and salmon burgers.
Food Aversions: None to speak of. I even smelled garlic on Sunday and said, “mmmmm garlic!”
Sleep: Sleep has been pretty good this past week. I’ve been falling asleep well, and despite the 1-2 bathroom trips a night (anyone else surprised I can make it through the night only getting up once!??! I’m pretty impressed) and most mornings I’ve been sleeping pretty late. On the days where I wake up early (yesterday), I get in a pretty decent nap.
Stretch Marks? Still none!
Miss Anything? Same as last week. Still sleeping on my stomach, a nice large glass of sangria, and running!
Looking forward to: My next 3-d ultrasound next week. I love the growth checks and hearing how much they weigh! I’m guessing with as big as they were last time, they will be 2 lbs 10 oz and 2 lbs 9 oz. We’ll see how that goes!
Belly Button in or out? Half in, half out!
Happy or moody most of the time? I’ve been pretty crazy, I’m not going to lie. I had a few “don’t cross the pregnant lady” moments this past week. Two were comments on this nice old blog, one was when my neighbors were letting freedom ring four days in advance at 10:30 at night, and once was at the Husband when he got crumbs on the couch (I wish I were joking about the last one – lol).
New Baby Items: I got some new clothes for the girls and I also organized the heck out of their room! I love organizing things, so I set out to The Container Store on Sunday afternoon to get a few things. I got them drawer organizers and a few baskets to organize all of their tiny things. I still need a few things – something to put pacifiers in and a diaper caddy for the living room (instead of having to walk back and forth to their room all the live long day).
My goal by 30 weeks is to have their shelves up in their room, their wall decals delivered (but not up since they’ll have their names on them – we can’t have anyone seeing that!), and some picture frames ready to be filled.
Exercise: Same as last week – a few short walks. I took it easy on Thursday and Friday because of the contractions I had on Wednesday, but on Saturday I took Charlie for a walk and all went well (except for the fact that I tire out extremely easy now – lol!). Sunday I was just up and about running errands so I am now counting that as my workout.
Yesterday I went to school and worked in my classroom for a few hours. That equates to a workout these days.
Pregnancy Comparison
I thought that I could avoid this topic all together, but after getting a few comments last week, it seems that I can’t. I can’t stress enough that EVERY pregnancy is 100% completely different. I’m sure mothers of more than one child can attest to that. Some women get sick, some do not. Some women gain a lot of weight, some do not. Some are able to be active throughout the entire thing, some are not. Regardless of the situation, all pregnancies are a beautiful and miraculous thing.
I know that I’m a busybody, and I love reading all about different people’s pregnancies – it’s just so interesting to watch them progress. That is why I share all that I do about my pregnancy. It’s fascinating! I’m sure every pregnant woman will tell you that there is this feeling as if just about anyone can say anything to you because you’re pregnant. I’ve gotten a lot of (harmless) comments commenting on how large I am or how tiny I am or how they can’t imagine me making it until September or how I am never going to be able to work and go to school once I have the girls. The one thing that I cannot tolerate, however, are people telling me that I am harming my girls in any way. A blog is a funny thing – I share what I want to share, and believe me, there’s a lot I leave out of this space about myself and my life.
I can 100% tell anyone who doubts it that I am doing everything in my power to keep my girls safe, sound, and hanging out for as long as I can. I’m listening to my body, I’m following my doctor’s orders, my girls are thriving, and all of my doctors think my pregnancy has been going wonderfully. I think I’m doing my job juuuust right.
I urge everyone to not fall into the comparison in regards to any aspect of your life, especially when you are pregnant or dealing with a hormonal pregnant woman’s emotions.
And that’s all I’m going to say about that one!
Just a final note that has nothing to do with the above topic, but I’m starting to think about nursing bras/tanks so I can pack my bags for the hospital (I want to be ready! I’m neurotic.) – for all you mamas out there, what are the best/most affordable nursing bras and banks out there? I want a few to be comfy in and then a few for when I actually wear real clothes. I don’t want to break the bank either!

You’re awesome. I adore you. You’re going to be the most perfect mom ever. That is all!
I’d be the exact same…all prepared!
Those types of comments bring out the mama bear!! GRRRRRR … I think you are doing an amazing job and proof is in your the babies’ growth! They are obviously thriving
I have to let the “you’re so tiny” comments roll off my back personally. Sometimes it’s almost backhanded and I just say I won’t be at the end! I know that’s true from previous experience haha.
The BEST nursing tanks are from Target! I have like 6 of them and they lasted me the 13 months I nursed. I wore them to bed, under clothes, everywhere. They provided enough support at night too and my boobs were ahem … porn star status for awhile. All my friends here use them and they are awesome!
hahaha - and that’s 20 pounds up from the weight I originally lost. I think people are out of their mind sometimes.
Are you talking about the Gillian O’Malley brand from Target? That’s what I was originally looking at, but wanted to make sure they were good!
Yes! LOVE them. I seriously will still wear them because they’re comfortable. Will need to buy new ones before this baby comes!
And yes - I hate when people remark on my “weight gain” … I lost 15lbs with Em and STILL put on 29lbs in the pregnancy so now I just smile and nod haha.
Ditto to the Target tanks! I loved ‘em!
I love these recaps; seeing you and the girls grow is fascinating! Good luck
Oh my goodness, Chelsey. I completely understand how you feel about the whole pregnancy comparison. To be honest, I am finding the motherhood comparison just as tough…or tougher. Some people can be so harsh and judgemental. Breastfeeding, belly size, sleeping, routines, diapers…it’s insane. Every mother wants the best for their babies (pre and post labour), and every pregnancy and baby is different. The best advice I ever received was to just do what works for me, my son, and my family. Keep doing what you are doing. You are glowing!
I’m currently in Australia so got my nursing bras at an Aussie-label store, but apparently Target is fantastic and cheaper than specialty stores. I found I needed a lot (7 to be exact), as I was going through them like crazy. I got away without buying nursing tank tops, but I’d say having a couple would be a good idea, especially for the hospital when you are just getting the hang of everything.
Oh gosh, I hear you about the mommy comparison. That’s one of the reasons why I probably won’t be blogging too much about the girls after their born - one for their own privacy and two for my sake/sanity. Thanks for the nursing tanks/bras advice! Everyone is saying Target!
Oh I was going to say the exact same thing…I wish other women, moms especially would just lay the judgement aside and admit that it is overwhelming at times being a mom and we all just do the best we can. We might not all decide to raise our children the same way, but as long as they are loved and cared for I don’t think it should be anyone else’s business how we are doing that. Trust your instincts and you will know what to do.
With this twin pregnancy for me I am amazed at the things people have the balls to say, it was one thing when I was pregnant with just my daughter, but the fact that we are expecting twins opens the doors to a whole new realm of inappropriate or stupid questions haha. My favorite thus far was when my neighbor asked when I was due again, I said October, and she goes “Wow, look how big you are already.” Luckily I tend to let things just roll off my back, but it doesn’t mean it doesn’t get old
You look great and don’t let anyone else let you feel different!
Those kind of comments never cease to amaze me… I mean, maybe it’s because I blog myself and know how much I leave out of my own posts, but I would assume that people realize that a blog isn’t a perfect representation of a person’s life. I think you’re doing an amazing job, girl - you’re going to be an awesome momma.
Oh, and did you get the e-mail I sent ya?
I didn’t!
I’ve gotten my nursing bras and tanks at target. I used a leftover giftcard from baby shower to buy them.
oy i’m sorry to hear you’ve had offensive comments
when i posted my infertility sucks post, that was the first time i had negative comments on my blog… just one, but it still hurts! you know (and most everyone else knows!) of course you are doing everything in your power to keep yourself and your babies completely safe and i’m sure you will have two very healthy, very happy, very beautiful baby girls!!! xo
Ugh, it’s the worst! I’ve been meaning to email you back too - I keep forgetting. I’m not ignoring you!
LOL
I couldn’t agree more about the pregnancy comparison, and unfortunately it continues onto birth experiences and parenting
I found myself comparing my experiences (especially my birth experience which ended in a c-section) to other moms’. I have kept a good attitude about it, though, because I gave birth to an amazing, healthy, baby girl.
As for nursing tanks, I like the ones by Gillian O’Malley from Target - they’re only $20 or so. I have one in black and one in gray but want more. I bought a third one with wide straps but that one doesn’t have a snap to drop down one side. I bought these before my daughter was born.
For a nursing bra, I sucked it up and bought one for $60 at a baby boutique place a week postpartum so the size would be accurate. It is recommended to not wear underwire for the first two on this of breast feeding (which I didn’t know before), but I found a good one with a nice shape and support. Good luck!
Hi Chelsey….
I hated those comments too….”you’re so small”, “you look like you are going to pop any second”, “are you carrying twins?” (well actually, yes i was)…..it is frustrating. I had such bad heartburn at the end I had a tough time eating….and got a LOT of comments about it. Turns out I had a vaginal delivery and took home 2 healthy babies at 36 weeks….4 lbs 14 oz and 5 lbs 10 oz. I gained about l30 lbs and I heard TONS of unwarranted comments about things.
It sounds like you are doing an amazing job. I just went back and read those comments….people can be so ignorant. You look wonderful, and I am sure your girls are doing well too:)
I just got a bunch of bras at target….a few sports nursing bras that are really nice. Although I am not nursing…..I am pumping 8x a day (ahhhhh!) Just easier to do with the 2 of them and a crazy 3 1/2 year old at home! I don’t know if you are planning on pumping, but I have a Medela bustier bra that is AWESOME….I can pump and feed the babies at the same time:)
hahahaha - I LOVE that typo. Hilarious. What I love doing is when people say, “not too long now, huh?” And I say, “well, I’m not due until the end of September.” and then watching their faces but not telling them I’m having twins. That is the BEST.
You are a super mom for doing a vaginal delivery. Right now baby a is head down and baby b is head down but more in a transverse breech head down position - we’ll see what I end up doing! My plan is to not have a plan.
Can you send me the link to that Medela bustier bra?
http://www.medelabreastfeedingus.com/products/579/easy-expression-bustier
I actually went and got another one so I have two (they stretch out a little bit after wearing multiple times a day like a milk cow, haha). By far, this is one of the best postpartum things I have.
Oh, and my son was breech my entire pregnancy. I was convinced I was going to have a c-section, but once my water broke, he must have flipped to vertex. A really nice surprise:)
Oh and that was a typo….30 lbs, not 130!
target has some great nursing bras and tanks!!
Boo to negative comments. People are always going to judge or have an opinion on something, but if it’s negative they should at least keep it to themselves!
Target nursing tanks are awesome!! The clasp is fantastic! Also, since you are probably planning on pumping (auto corrected to pimping -how funny is that?!?!) at work get a hands free pumping bra. Amazing! Allowed me to work, email whatever while pumping. Best of luck chelsey! You will be a great mama!
Moms really are always right… Including YOU! Keep doing what you know if right for your little babes.
Ugh. I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with this in a public forum, especially. People are especially insensitive about making comments to twin mamas, for some reason. Everyone thinks that women who are pregnant with twins must need to gain this insane amount of weight, and it’s just not true. You’re right, every woman and every pregnancy is different. As long as the girls are weighing in well (which they have been, way to go, ladies!) and your doctor is happy with how things are progressing, you are doing an A+ job! I only gained 29lbs with my twin pregnancy, and I delivered 6lb 3oz and 6lb 7oz boys at 38.4 weeks, so even though my gain was low it was what my body wanted and needed. I think you’re gaining perfectly on track (if there even IS such a thing as a track). You eat super healthy and should be proud of how well you’re taking care of yourself and the girls during this pregnancy! Hurray for you!
Such a beautiful bump!
And I honestly can’t believe someone could comment like that on YOUR pregnancy. I guess people just say those little comments not thinking much of it, but like you said, every pregnancy is different.
I think you’re going to be just an amazing Mom! I’m so excited for you.
You’re adorable and spot on! Amen! Pregnancy related or not, women have such a tendency to fall into the comparison trap and life is SO much better when you only compare yourself to you! I always say “Live and let Live”…it’s a much happier place to be
You look beautiful and will be one kick ass mama to two special little girls <3
It baffles me that people who only know you by the blog would have the audacity to criticize. A blog is such a tiny part of life! Plus long time readers know how much you were looking forward to having a baby and are well aware that you will be doing everything you can to keep them safe and healthy. Good on you for calling them out.
There will always be the Negative Nancy’s out there, but YOU know that you’re doing everything as best as possible for you! You have such a big network of support that a few silly comments shouldn’t even phase you (but I know how hard even one negative comment is to just ignore).
P.S. Your bump pictures are always so cute, such a pretty pregnant girl!
Oh they don’t phase me - buuuut, I wanted to put them in their places.
People are animals sometimes when it comes to commenting on blogs. It’s more just to hurt a person’s feelings than anything and I don’t know how people get off to do such a thing. I treat those comments as I treat random people’s stares… Feel bad for them for not having the ability to move on and get over it.
My neighbors own a fireworks stand and have been setting them off once every night for two weeks. Yeah, I wish I was joking.
I think they were tryyyyying to be kindhearted and tell me what was best for me - but ummm I know what’s best for me.
Haha! I always have a problem typing up thoughts/words into the way I want to say them in hopes I don’t come across the wrong way to people. Sometimes it is hard to say the right thing through text. #socialmediaproblems
That comparison trap is SO important. I didn’t do it with my pregnancy because you seriously would drive yourself crazy (or even when baby’s here - “why isn’t mine crawling yet??” lol). I like reading about other journeys, but I definitely don’t compare at all!!
On that note, I swear you were just 12 weeks pregnant last week. I also swear that everyone’s pregnancy went by waaaay faster than mine haha (and sorry about bummer comments on your blog. No one needs that!!)
haha I kind of feel like I was just finding out about being pregnant yesterday. So crazy!
You are doing great! When I was pregnant with my now 11 week old twins I got a ton of comments from people about my size and how tiny I looked. How they would probably be in the NICU or I wouldn’t make it far. I made it to 36 weeks and 5 days and the twins were healthy. You’re the mom and know best! We should all be supporting each other not only as mothers but as women.
I found the best nursery tanks are from target. They are really comfy and I have washed mine a ton and they still look great. I did get some nursing bras from Walmart. But target is the place to go in my book. Good luck! Soon you will be holding those sweet babies. Being a mom of twins is wonderful!
Yay for healthy twin babies! I’m not going to lie, I’ve been kind of nervous the past few weeks just because two of my readers who were pregnant with twins had them at 29 weeks and 25 weeks. So scary for them. Luckily all four babies are doing okay.
I can’t even imagine what you said on here that would lead someone to believe (AND THEN COMMENT) that you were harming the girls. Pregnancy definitely invites all sorts of odd comments from friends and strangers…it boggles my mind. The comparison thing is something I really have to work at myself (being almost 30 weeks pregnant)…anyway, I think you are doing everything “right” - so keep on keeping on lady!
well said, Chelsey!
….About the work/school/mommy balance- I can’t lie, it can be hard BUT that doesn’t mean it isn’t worth it or that it isn’t right for you……. I have found that as a working mom, many of the comments I receive are truly more about THEM than they are about ME. It is usually how they feel about their decisions rather than my path. ….. Like I was saying via Instagram, God truly put a calling in my heart to teach and show not only my love but His love as well. That being said, don’t think I didn’t cry almost every.single.night before I went back to work or that I won’t cry my eyes out when August rolls around again.
I send you hugs and love. You’re doing great! ….. trust that mother’s gut instinct (it’s always right, always) and punch everyone else in the gut that gives you any crud! Haha— kidding—— or maybe not.
Bahaha!!!!
PS— you look so.stinking.cute!
I can’t even imagine how adorable those little ladies are going to be!!!!!!!!
PPS- Gillian O’Malley nursing tanks from Target are what my maternity leave wardrobe consisted of (didn’t need to wear a bra with them (but I was rather small- and still am))…. I then wore nursing bras from Destination Maternity once I went back to work.
Ugh, so sorry about people commenting on what they shouldn’t. I just want you to know that since I’ve started reading this blog, you just seem to get more and more healthy, and in a good way! Not in a restrictive or over-exercising way at all. You’re nourishing your body and your twins too! Your girls are already lucky to have you as their mom =)
Ohhhhh, the comments. They were amusing, to say the least.
I’m also on the Target train with the tanks/nursing bras. I wish I knew you were looking - Target’s daily deal yesterday was on nursing/sleep bras. Two for only $13.99! Totally ordered myself a pack
Hey, it’s your babies and your life - you know what’s best for them! You’re going to be a fantastic momma
Target is the way to go for tanks and nursing bras to sleep in. Their tanks are great - some comments above already said this. I like the bras (for nighttime) that crossed over in the front and can be easily pulled to the side for feedings. They’re comfortable and give just the right amount of support (and if you need to use nursing pads they’ll still work well) without the discomfort of underwire. Just to toss out some unsolicited advice, I would recommend some washable nursing pads. It felt less like I was wearing “a pad” in my bra, know what I mean? Plus they’re more earth friendly than tossing the disposables every day. You look fabulous. Keep up the good work mommy!
Perfect - thanks! And I actually have some washable nursing pads already. Sounds a little weird, but it was part of an end of the year present from one of my parents this year - hahah! She went with the baby theme and got me a bunch of essentials she LOVED.
You’re so cute Chelsey! I am looovvviiinnnggg your bump (and finally having one myself too). Isn’t it so fun?!?
As for negative comments-I’m sorry you had to deal with that! To be honest, I usually let those all roll right off of me now (it took me some time to learn), simply because I’ve learned that people who aren’t kind are in a negative place themselves. It is a reflection of THEM not YOU.
I am sure you know this, but it’s always nice to remind ourselves of that-you’re doing a GREAT job, Chelsey, and anyone who says otherwise prob has issues about themselves they need to clear up. Being judgemental is not cool.
Oh, I definitely let them roll off, but I wanted to put those people in their places.
Love that you did that
First off, based on what you’ve shared regarding your pregnancy, I don’t know how anyone could accuse you of NOT being careful with your precious cargo. It seems to me that you are resting when you need to, active when you feel like it, eating right, indulging in a balanced way, and enjoying your pregnancy. I have no doubt you are doing what is best. That said…WOW those girls have GROWN! And I’m super impressed that with all you’ve managed to accomplish in preparation for their arrival! Go girl!
I teach 3rd, and have been avoiding that classroom…and any thoughts that might creep up on me about next school year…like the plague. Kudos to you for venturing in there!
I think you’ve been doing everything right! I’m currently more than halfway through my 8th pregnancy (we’ve lost three babies over the years) and all of my pregnancies have been really rough. I’ve finally started feeling better and I’m 22 weeks.
I highly recommend these for nursing: http://undercovermama.com/
Also, very important, do not buy more than one nursing bra ahead of time because your size will change once your milk comes in, especially considering you’ll be making milk for two. I would wait a week or so and then measure yourself or go to somewhere like Motherhood Maternity and they will fit you for a bra there. I’ve loved nursing my kiddos and I hope you have the same experience! All the best to you and your little girls!
Great advice - that’s what a few other people have said as well. I think I might get one tank and one comfy bra (with no cups - more of a S,M,L kind of thing) and then go to a maternity store to get measured after they’re born. I”m sure my chest will be out of control!
PS - I’m sorry you have had such a hard go at everything. Just think that you’ll have 3 more babies in heaven!
Thanks, Chelsey! It is definitely worth it, though!!
Loving reading these updates Chelsey and I’m glad to hear that all is well (for the post part
)! I’m also sorry to hear about the negative comments. How awful! Sometimes people are just mean!
I obviously don’t know you, but you seem like a really nice person and I wish you all the best through your pregnancy and beyond! Can’t wait to read more!
Pregnancy and motherhood seems to be like a free pass to say anything for some people. I was in tears most of my first pregnancy because I was told multiple times a day how HUGE I was. I’m petite and put on about 40-50 with each pregnancy. Lost it all and more afterwards, but it was really hard to hear those comments all the time. My boss actually told me the one time I had cookies in my pregnancy, that I should probably lay off as obviously I’d had enough! lol. Horrible. So i totally sympathize with that.
Just a cheap tip for you, if you have any old bikini tops that you don’t want to use, you can use those to support your pumps, instead of buying the more expensive option. I just cut little holes in the top and put one side through and attached the other to it. Easy and free.
Good luck with everything! Can’t wait to see pictures of those little girls!
Oh my gosh! I would have risked it and slapped him across the face. lol!
It’s funny how when it comes to pregnancy, everyone thinks they’re the expert and wants to give their opinion. But you’re so right that all pregnancies are different and there isn’t a “right” or “wrong” way of doing things. I think you’re doing a fantastic job and you’re going to be an amazing mother!
You look absolutely radiant and it sounds like your pregnancy is going fabulously! I used nursing bras from Motherhood Maternity and was very happy with them. Way to go on no stretch marks! I wasn’t quite so lucky and I only had one at a time!
My stomach still has to stretch out quiiiiiite a bit - there’s still time! lol
I love, love, loved the maternity and nursing tanks from Target! All I can say about nursing bras is to spend money on good ones. I bought cheap ones and hated them the entire time - I ended up throwing them away so that if I ever need them again I’m forced to buy new (better) ones.
Yes, moms are always right and soon enough you’ll be the one that’s always right
That’s a good tip! I think I’ll wait to buy any expensive ones until after the girls are born. That way I’ll have a better idea about sizing because I”m SURE my chest will be even more like a porn star once they’re born.
You are awesome…of course you will be a great mom. Nursing…i’ve been doing it almost nonstop for the past 6 years. Target and sears have great nursing tanks that won’t break the bank. I prefer the tank to the bra because of the added tummy coverage. But both are a bit uncomfortable for around the house. I like to wear a stretchy camesole that I can pull down with a shirt over it that pulls up easily. Leaking is also an issue for the first few months. Breast pads, both disposable and reusable are recommended and/or some prefold cloth diapers that you can stuff in your shirt at home. I definitely recommend the disposable ones for work and keeping a stash somewhere because leaking when you are standing up there teaching would be pretty embarrassing. (I taught middle school when I was nursing-can you imagine)
I definitely have some breast pads already - both reusable and disposable! I also have soothies - I heard they are awesome!
Bravado nursing bras and tanks are VERY comfortable but a bit pricey. I especially like them for night-time. They’re amazing soft and surprisingly supportive despite the fact that they don’t have underwire. I know they have them online at Target but I’m not sure if they’re carried in the stores. I also like Medela underwire nursing bras for daytime. I was disappointed in the nursing cami I bought online from Motherhood Maternity b/c it felt constricting across the chest…but if I had bought a bigger size it would have been huge everywhere else.
Good luck! Can’t wait to see pics of those sweet girls!
I’ve never been pregnant, but I think it’s so fascinating to read these kinds of posts because, just like you said, every pregnancy is different and every woman finds what works (and what doesn’t) for their individual pregnancy and the health of their baby (or babies ; ) Courtney’s post (Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life) was kind of along these same lines today!
haha it was! We’re on the same wave length.
Ah! I’m so jealous that you’re only getting up 1-2 times a night! I’m only 11 weeks and I’m already having to get up 4-5 times a night to run to the bathroom. It’s so annoying! And I’m exhausted! hahaha
Oh boy! I always stop drinking anything by like 8:00 - that way I can be up and to the bathroom like 5-6 times before I actually fall asleep.
I got some nursing bras and tanks that I loved from TARGET. They were really comfortable and got the job done at a price I was happy with
PS- I wish I could say that the comments from people with snotty opinions would end, but it just keeps coming once the babies are here. Rock on doing what you do and try to let those comments roll off your back. You know you are a good mom
I do let them roll off of me - I just want to put people in their place.
With hopes of nullifying any and all negative comments you have received-I can tell you that with three of my own very different pregnancies, each is different and special in it’s own way, just like every child is special and different in their own ways!
I think you look beautiful and healthy. You will be a wonderful mother because you are a kind, loving human being who is not ashamed to seek help and you clearly plan ahead so you’ll have everything organized and ready in advance of each stage of your children’s lives.
God bless you for a continued healthy and happy pregnancy and a safe and easy delivery.
Thanks Tracey!
I so want to rub your belly!!! And I’m with you on the pregnancy comparison thing. We do that enough as is, but now we have to bring a beautiful moment in our lives to cherish into the comparison trap too? Blech.
haha - you could totally rub my belly. Just make your way up to Chicago!
Look at your belly! AH it’s so cool and cute! Cravings must be the oddest part of pregnancy haha!
LOL - it’s biiiiig!
Well said, mama!!! I am a mom of four, preggo with five. I usually stick with wearing a simple cami at first. Noticed with every pregnancy/nursing experience my breast did different things, so I wait at least six weeks before worry or even trying a nursing bra. I hope this helps! BTW, I am 21 weeks still lifting wgts and running….that proves how different we all are!
That’s a good idea! I think I might get a few tanks/sleeping bras but hold off on the ones that are actual cup sizes!
Oh, people and their rude comments. I think you look great — keep doing what works for you!
Several weeks ago, I had someone tell me that I was (wrongly) promoting young marriage because I got married when I was 23. Seriously??
lol whaat?!?! I got married a week after I turned 23. I’m pretty sure my husband and I are doing juuuuuust fine.
Getting married when you’re “young” isn’t for everyone, but whatever!
I’m new to your blog and love reading your updates! I remember the night I went into labor (like 3 hours before labor started) I couldn’t sleep cause the neighbors were playing music so loud from their car. I was TICKED!!! Called the po-po and that took care of it (probably could have just gone out and asked them to turn it down but what can I say I was tired, grouchy, and ready to POP!).
hahahaha - I love this. So funny.

I just have to say.. WAY TO GO MAMA!! I cannot believe that someone would imply that you were harming your girls!! That’s terrible. And so hurtful!! I will say this though, as someone who’s 24 and never been pregnant, I honestly never knew saying “you’re so tiny” would be offensive, but after reading this post.. I will think carefully next time I have that phrase on the tip of my tongue!
I TOTALLY agree on this one. Just always tell a pregnant mama she looks great, that’s what we need to hear! It baffles me when women who HAVE been pregnant say silly comments. It’s like come on, you should know better!
Preach it girl. Unfortunately the comparison doesn’t stop once you have kids. It’s so frustrating. We’ve had a lot of difficulties with Wyatt and people are always saying we’re doing something wrong and telling us what we “should” do. EVERY child is different, just like every pregnancy is. I can only smile, nod, and secretly wish that the naysayers have a child who sleeps as well as my son one day. I’m kidding. Kind of
You really look great though and I have no doubt that you’re doing everything in your power to take the best care of them. After all, you’re their mom. No one will ever love them more than you do <3
The Motherhood Maternity sleep nursing bras are a MUST! And, throw in a few of their regular nursing tops. I thought I would wear them out and about which I never do, but when I am home, I am always wearing a sleep nursing bra and nursing top from Motherhood Maternity combo. Wait until they have a sale so you can do buy 2, get 1 free! Their snap down tank tops are great too because they fit a little slimmer than the Gilligan O’Malley nursing tanks are nice too, but they are HUGE in the belly area. Though, I suppose a lot of women who breastfeed stop when they still have some baby weight… I am still going strong at 11 months!
The cheaper Gilligan O’Malley nursing sleep bras gave me horrible neck pain. They pulled on my neck in an odd way. So, I got rid of those and was glad to have the good Motherhood Maternity ones in my drawer!
I bought nursing bras at Motherhood Maternity and at Target. But I wear the ones from Target the most often because they’re more comfortable!
My nursing tanks are all from Motherhood Maternity. And I seriously live in them. Get yourself several because you will wear them all of the time! (And they’ll constantly be in the laundry because of spit-up and poop haha!)
Definitely don’t let what other people tell you, get in the way of what you are doing for yourself and your little babies. And this holds true for after your babies are born too. Everyone will feel like their way of doing things is the right way, but really, the best way is whatever way you think is right. Trust your own intuition, and tell everyone else to just mind their own business (in a tactful way, of course. Unless they’re being rude. Then you can tell them to suck it).
I got a few nursing bras at Target that I really like because they feel like I’m wearing a soft sports bra. I pretty much live in them and also wear them to bed. They’re called Basics by Bravado. I’m pretty small chested, though (even while nursing) so if you need more support, these might not be the best ones.
You look gorgeous, by the way, and that belly of yours is just adorable and perfect!
I nursed my daughter for a year, and bought a lot of bras in that time. I found Target’s to be the best (and the cheapest!). I didn’t like the ones I got from Motherhood. They were fine at first but the underwire quickly poked through and became very uncomfortable until I had to throw them away. Target’s lasted much longer. You will also want to get some sort of comfy/soft nursing bras to wear at night for the first few months. The ones from Target are great; they have a cute polka dot one and a grey one with a little lace (no underwire). Here are the links to my favorites (the first was my most fav) http://www.target.com/p/gilligan-o-malley-women-s-favorite-nursing-bra-assorted-colors-patterns/-/A-14334251#prodSlot=large_1_11 ; http://www.target.com/p/gilligan-o-malley-women-s-nursing-full-coverage-lace-bra-assorted-colors/-/A-14245405#prodSlot=large_1_9 ; http://www.target.com/p/gilligan-o-malley-women-s-comfort-nursing-bra-assorted-colors-patterns/-/A-13643224 (for night time)
I should also note that I am ordinarily small-chested. I average a small B cup (while not nursing).
I have several different nursing tank tops(Target, Destination Maternity, walmart and Undercover mama), and my absolute fave is the undercover mama. In case you aren’t familiar, they don’t have straps, so you can hook them to your bra. I am pretty average sized, but I still felt like the nursing tanks didn’t offer a ton of support, so I liked this compromise-I was still covered up and had the convenience factor. They are a little more expensive, but oh so worth it in my book. They have coupons sometimes if you are on their mailing list, so that is nice. Whatever brand you end up with, I would recommend getting a lot!! I have 8, and I wear them pretty much all of the time, so it is nice to have so many and in lots of different colors! Good luck-you look great and YOU know you are doing what is best for your girls.
lookin’ good! and follow your cravings! your body is smart and knows what your baby needs!
Hi there! First of all, I’m so glad you’re not falling into the comparison trap; I’m only 19 but as someone who compares herself to everyone in every aspect of life, I can imagine how easy it would be to fall into the mommy comparison trap. Secondly, I’ve been dying to know if the twins was something you expected or not? Does the twin gene run in your family or were you having fertility treatments…or was it just a huge unexpected surprise??
Thanks Devon - don’t fall into the trap yourself!
Well, I’ve always thought I was going to have twins for some reason - I even alluded to it in a post over two years ago. So weird. Twins run in my mother’s family - her grandfather was a twin and a few of her cousins have twins!
You look amazing, seriously, you are going to be one heck of a mama! Love reading about pregnancies, even more so that I’m totally and 100% done with that phase in my life! EVERY single pregnancy, delivery, labor, contractions are different.
Long time reader but have never commented, this one hit home for me! You look fantastic! I have never understood why people feel it is ok to say whatever they want to a pregnant woman! At 20 weeks(39 weeks now
) I had a woman I just met tell me I was too small and should be at least double the size and how I was hurting my baby. It was awful and put doubt in my head anytime someone else(not maliciously) would say I was small even though I knew I was doing everything I was supposed to. Have a wonderful week
Oh my goodness - not cool! You’ve only got a few days now! I’m going to head over to your blog to see if you’ve had your baby!
Chelsie, you look gorgeous and healthy and glowy- your girls are going to be super healthy and beautiful too- don’t worry about the off color comments from people. They’re prob just jelly that you look so fantastic pregnant- let alone with twins!
Don’t listen to anyone else, you do what is best for you!! Best of luck!
Chelsey, you look so gorgeous and glowing!! I love living vicariously through your pregnancy! So happy you’re beginning to feel much better.
I used to follow your blog through email, but I’m noticing there’s no longer a way to subscribe via email? Is that the case?
Thanks again for your great updates!
Thanks Brittany!

Thanks! I found it
For the most part, I have gotten away with nursing bras and regular tanks underneath a shirt. That way, I can lift up the top shirt, pull down the regular tank, and unhook my nursing bra. Saved my money on tanks! I love the Target Mossimo Long and Lean tanks. Flattering on a post baby bod, hold their shape very well, and stretch enough to pull down.
Nursing tanks! I found them to be the BEST thing to wear under clothing, to bed…….everyday! I purchased mine at motherhood maternity and they have held up really well despite the constant use. I’m expecting baby #2 …..according to the other comments it sounds like I should check out what Target has to offer to add some to the mix.
As for nursing bras, I went to Nordstrom to be properly fit. The sales person was really helpful and while I don’t recall the brand, I was really happy with my purchase. I thought it was odd to go while prego to have the fitting done since I expected some change in cup size after delivery but somehow they know what to allow for.
I actually may go to MM because they’re having a nursing sale right now!
