32 weeks pregnant with twins

August 6, 2013

We’re all ready over here for our girls’ arrivals! Our bags are packed, their rooms are ready, their car seats are installed. Now we just need them! I would like them to stay nice and comfortable for a few more weeks, but just knowing we’re all ready for them whenever they decide to show up makes me feel good. Plus, I know that if they’re born now at 32 weeks, they may need some help breathing but their overall health shouldn’t be affected. Good news!

mama’s got a big old belly!

Weight Gained: Whoever told me that gaining weight at the end of a twin pregnancy would be hard was a liar! I gained like crazy over the last 2 weeks – up to a 30 pound total weight gain. Woohoo! I’m thinking by the time all is said and done, I’ll probably have gained 40 pounds. I knew these girls were going through a growth spurt the last couple of weeks. I have been so hungry! My growth ultrasound is today so we’ll see how much they weigh.

Symptoms:

All the same symptoms as last week – contractions, heavy belly, yadda yadda yadda. The thing that’s most difficult right now is honestly the hand pain I’m experiencing. It has been making waking up in the morning absolutely horrible. Plus, if I wake up in the middle of the night I can’t fall back asleep because my arms are numb. My right thumb is pretty much tingly and numb all the live long day regardless of what I do. I am so glad that this showed up so late in the game and not at 20 weeks. Holy cow, that would be horrible!

Movement: All day, every day!

Food Cravings:  Cucumbers from my garden and chicken – all kinds of chicken. Chicken salad, buffalo chicken… yum. Last night I made Iowa Girl Eat’s buffalo chicken cheese steaks for dinner. My mouth was on fire, but they were so freaking good. I inhaled mine!

Food Aversions: Nothing.

Sleep: This last week has been horrible on the sleep front. One night I was awake from 12-3:30, but thankfully some good movies were on TV in the middle of the night (Channing Tatum in Dear John? I’ll take it!). Other than that, I’ve been continuously waking up because of the numbness I’ve been experiencing and because of my cold. My poor husband had a teary eyed wife most mornings.

Stretch Marks? The same little ones from last week – nothing new!

Miss Anything? Sleeping on my back or stomach

Looking forward to: My ultrasound this afternoon!

Belly Button in or out? It’s hanging alllll out now.

Happy or moody most of the time? This week was pretty rough, mainly due to overall exhaustion and not feeling well because I was sick. Like I said above, I woke up most mornings so extremely tired but unable to fall back asleep. Tears were shed. It was not pretty.

New Baby Items: We didn’t get any new baby items, but we did put together all of our baby items. And when I say “we”, I really mean “the husband”. I supervised. He assembled. We make a great team. 😉

Exercise: This just makes me laugh at this point. While I can’t wait to actually work out and be in shape again, the thought of exercising at this point is laughable. And when I read other people’s workouts, I can’t even fathom being able to do what they did. It’s going to be a loooooong road to getting back in shape. Uggggh.

Here’s to holding on for a few more weeks! I feel like I’m in the homestretch – or at least I’m telling myself that I am to avoid hitting the wall I keep running into. 😉
