wiaw and exciting baby news

August 7, 2013

Happy hump day! I know many of you hate that phrase, but it makes me think of that awesome commercial, so I’m okay with it. ;) Today I’m heading up to school to try and get some things ready (my first “official day” back without kids is next Thursday). I’m planning on doing the institute days and playing it by ear to see if I can handle being back with the kids. We’ll see how that goes!

Before I get started on my eats from yesterday, I thought I would give you a nice little update on how the girls are doing since I had my growth ultrasound yesterday. Both girls are doing SO SO well. Before my ultrasound started, I told my mom to make a prediction on their weights. She guessed 4 pounds 6 ounces and 4 pounds 8 ounces. I laughed at her because I thought that was way big for 32.5 weeks. Well, it turns out Baby A is 4 pounds 4 ounces and Baby B is 4 pounds 5 ounces. She wasn’t too far off! They are continuing to weigh and measure ahead which I feel so good about.

There’s even BETTER news from my ultrasound yesterday as well. Both of these girls are trying to make their mama happy because they are BOTH HEAD DOWN! I was shocked to see this. Baby B is actually presenting herself as the one who will come out first now. Her head is literally right there (literally. The ultrasound technician couldn’t even get good measurements on her head until she did an internal ultrasound). No wonder I’ve been feeling pressure lately! Baby A is completely head down as well, but her head isn’t down quite as low because her sister is being quite pushy. ;) According to my doctor, there is a very slim chance at this point that they’ll flip again because it is so crammed in there. If this is the case, we’ll be attempting a vaginal birth. Woohoo! My next ultrasound appointment is September 3 (the Husband’s birthday), so we’ll see if I make it that far.

Okay, time for my eats from yesterday!

Breakfast – 8:00 AM

Lunch – 12:15 pm

I highly recommend adding buffalo sauce to your mac and cheese the next time you eat it. Just sayin’.

Snacks

Insert DD decaf iced coffee and toast with peanut butter/banana slices here

Dinner – 6:30 PM

My cousin Rian offered to bring us Chipotle last night, so she came over for a few hours. I think she was trying to butter me up and figure out the girls’ names, but I didn’t crack. ;) I even went so far as to cover their name decals so she could see the nursery but not their names. Bahaha.

And as I’m typing this (Tuesday night) I’m thinking about eating a bowl of cereal before I head to bed!

It is! I went into this pregnancy knowing that I would most likely have to have a c section, but knowing that it might not have to happen that way makes me so so happy!

Great news!!! So will they still schedule an induction so you can try it naturally? Or just let it happen?

oh yay!!! the girls are already obeying their mama. hehe

YAY!!!! Great news! I’ve never been pregnant so it’s a super strange concept to me to be able to fit two babies and have them both be head down in there- in my head I imagine one to be on one side and the other on the other side (clearly, far from accurate!). You look amazing, Chelsey!

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey August 7, 2013 at 6:54 am

haha! Not too far off actually! Baby B’s head is waaaay down there, but Baby A’s head is just up and to the right a little bit - more by my right hip bone if that makes sense. I have NO idea how they got into those positions though. Baby girl who is just about ready to bust loose has always been up laying sideways under my ribs. They’ve been duking it out in there!

I’m so thrilled for you!! They flipped just in the nick of time :) My baby A stayed breech, necessitating a C section, so I’m so happy your girls are cooperating!! Now stay in that spot, babies, and cook, cook, cook!

And you’re a serious trooper for maybe going back to school with the kids at this point - I bet they’ll love having you there, no matter how exhausted they make you ;)

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey August 7, 2013 at 1:21 pm

haha! It turns out I”ll have TWO full time classroom aides due to some student needs, so there will always be 3 adults in the room. That makes me feel a little better knowing they’ll be able to handle some things for me. Plus, my maternity sub is planning on coming the first two days to do her “shadow days” to learn my routine. So with four adults for 24 kids, I think I’ll manage just fine. Ha!

Just a fellow (retired) teacher signing in to wish you the best of everything! I have been reading your blog for a couple of years now and always enjoy it. I retired last year after 30 years in the biz up here in Canada so I love to relate (with a chuckle) to your observations of your students. It’s a wonderful job that can only be done well by someone with your enthusiasm and obvious skills. Your students are lucky children! On a family note, I wish you lots of fun times ahead with your husband and little girls! Parenthood is an amazing journey and I wish you much joy at the beginning of this happy new adventure!

cleaneatingchelsey August 7, 2013 at 1:24 pm

Thanks Nancy! It does take a special person to teach, that’s for sure. ;) I don’t know how it goes in Canada, but dealing with education in the US with all the say the government/people who have never taught have to say is rough!

SO happy to hear that they’re both head down. That is super exciting. I hear ya on that pressure talk. My girl was SO low that my pelvis pretty much hated me haha. You are growing some healthy babies in there ;) . I can’t even look at that mac n cheese without wanting to jump through the computer screen. You can’t make things look that appetizing at 10:43am!

Reply

That’s such great news about the babies! I honestly love that you are going to try to have your girls naturally before opting for a c-section. That is a huge deal considering the large number of doctors who push patients to have c sections these days.

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey August 7, 2013 at 1:26 pm

I agree - we have four doctors in my practice, and I feel like two of them would push me to have a c section. But my favorite doctor won’t unless it’s medically necessary or an emergency.

Lauren August 7, 2013 at 10:39 am

I’m sure you’re happy to hear the babies are head down! Since you’re having twins, how many weeks are you expected to be pregnant? Is it different for twins since you have two people growing in your tummy? I’m glad I know a fellow DD lover :)

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey August 7, 2013 at 1:27 pm

Average for twins is 35 weeks (which will be August 24 for me), but they won’t try to stop labor any time from 34 weeks on (next Saturday - eeeeek!). I’d like to make it to about 36 weeks if at all possible! My doctors won’t let me go past 38 weeks, so they’ll induce me if I make it that far. Pray to God that I don’t make it that far. ;) Yikes!

I do hate the hump day phrase, but ever since that commercial it’s been slowly growing on me :) I have a girl that sits a few cubicles down from me who watches it almost every Wednesday and the guy beside me loves to imitate the camel’s voice.

Such exciting news to share!

I love that it sounds like Baby B wants to be the one who gets to use the ‘but I’m older’ line.

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey August 7, 2013 at 1:17 pm

It’s actually funny because on our first ultrasound, we only saw one baby (baby b) and on the second ultrasound, we had two babies (baby a must have implanted later). I feel like Baby B is like Ummmmm I’m actually the older one here. Get the heck outta my way!

Oh I remember that pressure and man I had to pee SO much more because of that, phew! Seriously as soon as I delivered Rocco, the nurse asked how I felt, I said that I felt great because I knew I was not going to have to pee every 5 minutes anymore, haha!

Happy weekend love!

Great news about the girls! I know you’ve got to be so relieved to hear their weights and that they’re both head down. We have 2 weeks of institute this year (ugh!). We started Monday and will have it again next week. I’m fried…why is it so hard to get back into the groove of things. From mornings earlier than I’m used to and staying up too late, AND all the added stress that comes with the beginning of the year, I think I might sleep the whole weekend. ;-)
