Here we are at 33.5 weeks! I know I say this every week now, but it’s still crazy to think I have two humans inside of me and that they will be making their appearances VERY soon!
I do have to say, I’m not sure how much I’m going to be posting in the next few weeks. Not only am I going back to work this week to start off the school year (am I crazy? maybe….) but this carpel tunnel stuff is out of control. I’ll talk about it more in my “symptoms”, but it hurts to do just about anything with my hands. Typing? Yeah, it doesn’t feel so good these days!
Weight Gained: I’m sitting around 32-33 total pounds. Since the girls are gaining a half a pound a week each at this point, I hope I gain at least a pound a week in these last few weeks. Which, by the looks of things, isn’t so difficult for me these days. I can hear my mother’s voice in my head from three to four months ago telling me “You’ll be glad you only gained xxx amount early on – you’ll be surprised how quickly you’ll gain in the end.” Yes mother, you were right…. again.
In all seriousness though, I could care less about how much weight I’m gaining. I’m sharing for the mere fact so that everyone can see just how different every pregnancy is!
Symptoms:
Carpel Tunnel. Guys, I know I complained about it last week – but it has gotten worse. I try so hard not to complain, but I have to keep it real about this one. I don’t know how people regularly deal with CTS. It is THE WORST. My wrists/in between my thumb and pointer finger don’t usually hurt until the end of the day, but the worst part is that my fingers stay numb the entire day now. And when I say numb, I mean it feels like I have pins and needles running through my fingers every single time they touch something (like this keyboard – yowzers.) Now I kind of WISH that I only felt the numbness when I woke up in the morning like it was last week. The only relief I kind of get is when I ice my fingers. Because of this and only this, I am DONE. I have hit my wall. They can stay comfy for a few more weeks, but then I’m evicting them.
edited to add this morning: I finally broke in and bought two wrist braces last night and wore them to bed. I can definitely feel a difference already from wearing them. When I woke up this morning, it didn’t take me hours to make a fist (I could make one right away). I still have the numbness, but it’s not quite as bad. If only I weren’t so stubborn and gave into them two weeks ago….
Movement: All day, every day!
Food Cravings: No real big cravings – I’ll eat just about anything!
Food Aversions: Nothing.
Sleep: Sleep has gotten better this past week. I’ve tried sleeping propped up on my back (to avoid laying on my arms) and that typically works for a few hours. Otherwise I lay on my right side (oh well.) because my left hand is worse than my right and I don’t want to aggravate it any more. Last night, however, was so weird. I fell asleep and then about an hour later I woke up feeling like I was going to be sick. I bolted to the bathroom, but nothing happened. Darn that third trimester nausea!
Stretch Marks? The same little ones from last week – nothing new!
Miss Anything? Full feeling in my hands.
Looking forward to: Meeting these baby girls!
Belly Button in or out? It’s hanging alllll out now.
Happy or moody most of the time? I’ve been pretty tearful lately. I seriously cannot take a joke at this point anymore. John’s trying to keep it light, but I usually end up in tears and mad at him if he makes a joke about something. The poor man.
New Baby Items: Nothing new!
Exercise: Ha.
Question for mamas: What were your last few weeks of pregnancy like? Did they snail by or go by fairly quickly?

Your carpel tunnel sounds miserable! How do you go about icing your hands? Do you stick them in an ice bath or use an ice pack? I’m glad the braces helped
The last few weeks of my pregnancy went by quickly because I was at the end of the school year (my last day of school was June 7 and I was due June 10). Instead of thinking about giving birth or taking care of an infant, I was focused on finishing up the school year and getting through final exams. I was worried about needing to grade final exams from the hospital or while home with an infant. Luckily that didn’t happen, and my daughter was born 10 days late - ha!
I just use an ice pack and rotate it around. It works!
Wait, you mean you’re not running a 5K everyday?! LOL!
Can’t believe you’re so close the “end”! Ah!
wow, good for you going back to work!
You look great for being so far along with twins! Good luck with going back to work and with the homestretch!
Holy cow I hear you on the CTS. I wore double braces, tried sleeping sitting up bc it felt slightly better, and was numb constantly. Dead numb at the end of my pregnancy. So nuts. I stayed numb (though much less pain) for 3 months after she was born. I work with my hands too. It makes it hard! I worked a 12 hr day the day I went into labor. Woo! Hard work but worth it! Hang in there. Our bodies are amazing.
Ugh - the worst! Thankfully the braces have made the numbness tolerable - as in, not shooting pain every single time I do anything. I’m hoping mine doesn’t take THAT long to clear up!
