Here we are at 33.5 weeks! I know I say this every week now, but it’s still crazy to think I have two humans inside of me and that they will be making their appearances VERY soon!
I do have to say, I’m not sure how much I’m going to be posting in the next few weeks. Not only am I going back to work this week to start off the school year (am I crazy? maybe….) but this carpel tunnel stuff is out of control. I’ll talk about it more in my “symptoms”, but it hurts to do just about anything with my hands. Typing? Yeah, it doesn’t feel so good these days!
Weight Gained: I’m sitting around 32-33 total pounds. Since the girls are gaining a half a pound a week each at this point, I hope I gain at least a pound a week in these last few weeks. Which, by the looks of things, isn’t so difficult for me these days. I can hear my mother’s voice in my head from three to four months ago telling me “You’ll be glad you only gained xxx amount early on – you’ll be surprised how quickly you’ll gain in the end.” Yes mother, you were right…. again.
In all seriousness though, I could care less about how much weight I’m gaining. I’m sharing for the mere fact so that everyone can see just how different every pregnancy is!
Symptoms:
Carpel Tunnel. Guys, I know I complained about it last week – but it has gotten worse. I try so hard not to complain, but I have to keep it real about this one. I don’t know how people regularly deal with CTS. It is THE WORST. My wrists/in between my thumb and pointer finger don’t usually hurt until the end of the day, but the worst part is that my fingers stay numb the entire day now. And when I say numb, I mean it feels like I have pins and needles running through my fingers every single time they touch something (like this keyboard – yowzers.) Now I kind of WISH that I only felt the numbness when I woke up in the morning like it was last week. The only relief I kind of get is when I ice my fingers. Because of this and only this, I am DONE. I have hit my wall. They can stay comfy for a few more weeks, but then I’m evicting them.
edited to add this morning: I finally broke in and bought two wrist braces last night and wore them to bed. I can definitely feel a difference already from wearing them. When I woke up this morning, it didn’t take me hours to make a fist (I could make one right away). I still have the numbness, but it’s not quite as bad. If only I weren’t so stubborn and gave into them two weeks ago….
Movement: All day, every day!
Food Cravings: No real big cravings – I’ll eat just about anything!
Food Aversions: Nothing.
Sleep: Sleep has gotten better this past week. I’ve tried sleeping propped up on my back (to avoid laying on my arms) and that typically works for a few hours. Otherwise I lay on my right side (oh well.) because my left hand is worse than my right and I don’t want to aggravate it any more. Last night, however, was so weird. I fell asleep and then about an hour later I woke up feeling like I was going to be sick. I bolted to the bathroom, but nothing happened. Darn that third trimester nausea!
Stretch Marks? The same little ones from last week – nothing new!
Miss Anything? Full feeling in my hands.
Looking forward to: Meeting these baby girls!
Belly Button in or out? It’s hanging alllll out now.
Happy or moody most of the time? I’ve been pretty tearful lately. I seriously cannot take a joke at this point anymore. John’s trying to keep it light, but I usually end up in tears and mad at him if he makes a joke about something. The poor man.
New Baby Items: Nothing new!
Exercise: Ha.
Question for mamas: What were your last few weeks of pregnancy like? Did they snail by or go by fairly quickly?

I can’t believe you are already almost to 34 weeks! I don’t know any twin pregnancy a to compare yours too, but it sure does seen like its going well for you (besides the cts of course ). Looks like those girls are still growing exactly as they need to be! Have you experienced any contractions or Braxton hicks yet?
Oh yes - they’re just part of every day life.
I probably get 3-4 an hour on most days. My doctor isn’t concerned though because they’re not painful or rhythmic. Well, they’re painful when Baby B (who is now Baby A - weird) decides to burrow into my left hip bone when they happen. Ha!
Your hair looks awesome and that is the cutest maternity top I have ever seen!
Thanks! Target!
I’ve never been pregnant- but I have dealt with carpal tunnel and it’s awful! I remember when it was at its worst I went to a PT and was supposed to squeeze on a stress ball and I couldn’t wrap my hand around it and I’m sure you can understand that. Hopefully this disappears once your little girls arrive! You look awesome and I love that top you have on!
Gaaaah - that does sound like the worst. I actually have been doing the same sort of thing in the mornings when I squeeze soap out of my loofa when I’m in the shower. It hurts but it seems so help!
I hit a few walls in my twin pregnancy (28, 32, 34, and then oh my god get these babies out of me 36 weeks), but right around 32 I was really, really done. The weeks do feel like they drag because you are so uncomfortable every second of the day, but at the same time they fly by. I tried to take it one day at a time, and at the end of the day I’d celebrate keeping the boys inside for another day. It’s so worth it, if your body cooperates and you’re lucky, to get to 36+ weeks and know the babies will need very little/no NICU time. You’re holding up really well with the discomfort. It’ll be over soon!! Awesome job, mama
Thanks for the encouragement. I really am not uncomfortable at all except for the CTS. I think because I expected to feel so so horrible at this point, I’m rejoicing that I’m not!
You look AMAZING. Can’t believe you’re carrying twins. That’s definitely an inspiration! I’m sorry you’re struggling with carpal tunnel right now. I’ve never experienced it, but can only imagine how awful that would be to have such pain in your hands. Good luck in the next coming weeks!
Thanks Briana!
Your school starts so early! I hope the carpel tunnel gets better. Keep wearing the brace!
I think you’ve officially made it farther than I did with my twin girls. I had mine at 33.3 weeks.
Hoping the CTS symptoms ease off for the next few weeks for you!
Carpal tunnel definitely stinks! My mom has it, so I remember her flare-ups. She always said the wrist braces helped her and she would also do a specific stretch that the doctor told her and she found it to be helpful too…place your palm up and gently grab the end of your fingers and bend in the opposite direction. Hope this gets better soon!
I can completely sympathize with you about the CTS! I’m also in my 33rd week of pregnancy (33W 4D) and have the exact same issue. It started a few weeks ago in my right hand only but now it’s creeping into my left. My fingers are so numb, tingly and painful! I never thought this would happen during pregnancy. You look so amazing though and then to find out you’re carrying twins?!?! Best of luck in your delivery and hope that CTS calms down!
Sounds like you’re doing great! I went 36 weeks with triplets, worked thru 31 weeks @my accounting job (…new job now! The hardest! They’re 10 months now). It’s crazy to start the school year but you’ll do great, it’ll be fine. Just listen to your body which I’m sure you know and hear allll the time. Best wishes!
Oh yes, the last few weeks totally snailed by for me… It seemed like it lasted foreeeeever. But then when Hunter came, I totally forgot about how slow it went. I’m so glad you got some braces for your wrists and that they helped! And even though I know you’re in pain, I’m SO glad those little ladies have decided to wait to make their grand entrance.
Hang in there! xoxo
I’m glad that I haven’t had to deal with any PTL scares as well. I can’t even imagine!
Your hair is super cute… and so is your belly
I think you look just great! I’ve never had a baby before, but I’m going to go ahead and assume once these girls are in your arms you’ll never even remember the CTS
I’m so sorry about your hands, but if it helps you look SO cute in that picture! Haha
I can’t take a joke either, or any type of constructive criticism. I busted out crying at dinner the other night and DH was like, “Uhm, now what? I didn’t mean to make you cry.” Poor guy, he’s in for a real treat. Ha. It’s going to be a looooong remaining 20 wks.
Your hair is super cute! Glad you’re gettin a little relief with the braces!
I used to suffer from terrible Carpel Tunnel until I found a few things that pretty much fixed it. I found a fantastic chiropractor, got a hand brace, iced it, used a jelly keyboard and mouse support, take a supplement called Calm, and rubbed Topricin cream on it. Now I don’t get it anymore. It was the worst! I feel your pain!
Yeah, these last few weeks here definitely feel like they are snailing by, but I’m sure once they are here it will feel like it flew
But, I did already make a false alarm trip to labor and delivery on Thursday exactly 35 weeks. They did biophysicals while I was there and they both scored perfect, so if they do come they aren’t worried thankfully. I’m just like you I hate to complain. I told my best friend a little while ago as long as the babies are healthy at the end of the this pregnancy, I can handle everything else till then. I’ve got telling people “Oh, I’m OK.” down to a T lol
I’m glad those babies are hanging in there just a little bit longer! While I know my girls would be a-okay if they were born right now, I’d like to avoid NICU time!
You’re looking fantastic! Hopefully, those braces keep helping with your hands…so soon until you meet the little ones!
You look adorable! Last weeks of pregnancy are so slow but keep busy and they will be here before you know it!
Only reason I’m going back to work! To keep busy!
My mom wears the hand supporters at night, too! She freaks out if she can’t find them because she notices a huge difference with wearing them. She has really bad arthritis in her hands and everything, so they helped her A LOT! I hope these keep making the CTS better for you to manage in these next few days/weeks until the twins arrive in the world!!
And at this point, I am sure your husband understands why you’re just on the verge of tears all the time. And, I would just like to end this with saying I love your hair and wish I could pull of the short cut. You look so, so good with one!
You could totally pull off short hair! I’ve noticed the only way I can pull it off is if I have an angled bob with the longest pieces being in the front. That way, my face looks longer and less round.
I love that pic of you! You look gorgeous!!! Yay for babies growing awesomely! I know I’ve def been surprised & super stoked about the bump getting bigger & bigger. And apparently my app says I’m headed into another growth spurt. Cray!
So sorry about the wrists/hands.OUch!
They’re kind of crawling for me at this point (currently at 38.5)! I bet going back to work for you will make the last few weeks speed by, though! Good luck and glad that your hands are feeling a little bit better this morning!
Looking great!! As always.
Good luck with the start of school!
(and as a random note - your shirt in that picture is super cute)
Hang in there! I had a friend with severe carpel tunnel during her pregnancy and her job involves typing, so it was really the pits. It will be over and {almost} all forgotten before you know. Good luck on starting school!
You look so great. My MIL went 37 weeks with my husband and his twin and they both weighed 7.5 lbs. I had one 7 pounder and I can’t imagine two at one time. You are doing so great! I bet going back to school will speed things up for you!
I totally feel for you!! I had CTS for both pregnancies! It was worse with my first though, especially as he was in until 41 weeks, my second vacated early at 37 weeks. The first was horrible with CTS, just felt like electricity running through them when I moved them. Tingly all the time. Drove me nuts! I could hardly hold onto anything. I couldn’t even brush my hair, just let it go curly at the end. Brutal. It does clear up afterwards…takes a bit but it does pretty much go away.
You’re doing amazing!!!
Oh and to answer your question the last few weeks of pregnancy felt like they flew by, I think I’m the only pregnant woman in the world that doesn’t want it to end! I was so scared of labour and having even less sleep! lol.
I’m so sorry you’re dealing with the CTS.
That was a symptom I didn’t have.
And I’d say for me, the last few weeks went by slowly. But I wasn’t DYING to have the baby out, like a lot of women. I was just trying to enjoy the last moments of it being just me and my husband.
Are you all organised and nested? Hope the good sleep continues and that your hands get better!
I am so glad you got the braces! Hopefully it gets a little better each day. We moved from TX to MO when I was 36 weeks pregnant with Em so I was CRAZY busy dealing with packing and moving etc. Then, once we got there, I had to set up a nursery. Basically never ending unpacking and laundry. She made her appearance 2.5 weeks later so I guess it flew by? However, being so uncomfortable, every day also seemed to last forever haha.
You look amazing!!! We find out Monday if there is more than one baby! I will be 7 weeks and am really anxious, I feel like there’s a party for two in there, but hearing my Dr ask if multiples run in the family and the need to schedule an ultrasound this early has me almost freaking out!! If there is twins, that will be 5 kids.
My cousin (who just had her baby TODAY!) also got CTS during her third trimester. I’d never heard of it in pregnant women, but she said the braces helped a ton! Best of luck to you! You look beautiful
I had my first son at 34 weeks. I was not ready for him at all. With my second, by the time I hit 34 weeks I had been convinced that I would have him. He came 4 weeks later. I was D.O.N.E. but he still wanted to be there. I think I had a breakdown almost everyday when I was pregnant. Oh it was horrible….but I think I was only bad like that bc I had told myself that by 34 weeks he would come like his brother did….
is CTS caused by pregnancy? i’d never heard that before!! and that’s really funny to think that you really are growing 2 humans in there!! and uhhh good luck with school?!?! #CRAZY!!!!!
xoxo
It’s not necessarily caused by pregnancy - but it can show up in pregnancy. The reason is because when you start to retain fluid, it can press on your nerves that cause carpel tunnel. Most of the time it resolves itself after you deliver (or shortly after).
As you’re a self proclaimed grammar snob, i’m interested to see you say ‘could care less’ rather than ‘couldn’t care less.’ i’ve seen this before on american blogs. Is it standard? I mean no disrespect! Ps- you look great!
hahaha! I guess it is pretty common for people to screw up around here and say “could care less” instead of what it’s supposed to be. Whoops!
Looking good! I too had really bad carpel tunnel when I was pregnant with my twin girls. The wrist braces are KEY for helping survive it. Make sure to where them every night, and as often as you can throughout the day. They really do help. I was on modified bed rest until 35 weeks, so the last couple months definitely dragged by.
My girls made their (assisted) appearance 1 day before 38 weeks, and I was sooooooo ready for them to be out! I gained 20 pounds of pure water weight (the swelling of my body - especially my feet was crazy. And painful) in the last month so watch out! Hang in there, and try to find some water you can just float in when things are too hot and the girls feel too heavy. You are doing great!
Oh I think I’m going to be swelling up soon too - especially since I’m going back to work and won’t be laying down the majority of the day. Yikes.
My last week was the longest. Mainly because I honestly thought she would come before or around my due date and she was one week late. It’s probably because I woke up each day thinking, “are you coming today?!?!” It was definitely ‘snail’ in a good way though. I had a really good pregnancy, so I was still feeling good in that last week. Just antsy!
Wow you are getting so close. If you go early like me it could be any day now.
I can’t believe you are going back to work you are nuts!! But it will help these last few weeks fly by. My pregnancies all seemed to go quickly. However, I have to say my twin pregnancy seemed to take forever. I think that had to do with bed rest and all the drama that happened throughout those 9 months.
I have to say even after you give birth to your two little ones you still won’t believe they were botth inside of you. I look at my girls everyday and think that it is impossible.
You look amazing!!
It blows my mind they could come any day from here on out. Today when I got my massage, my massage therapist told me he would be out of town next week (::tear:: - that means no massage next week) and that if the babies come before he comes back, he sends his regards. And I thought “holy crap - they totally COULD be here by then!!!”
For me, my last few weeks dragged on and on and on (and on some more…), as I wasn’t working. As “crazy” as you may feel for going back to kick off the year, I think you’ll be happy you did. It helps to divert your focus so that the pending labor doesn’t consume every single thought!!!
You’re doing great, Mama!
You are so stinkin cute! Mine went by fast bc I was working up until the day before I had my son!
Hi, really enjoyed seeing your entries. I’m 30weeks as of this past tuesday, also with twin girls. Looks like my tummy will be expanding more in the next 3 weeks…
I also find it hard to eat…
Good luck!
Love your hair and you look so fab!!! I am sorry about the CT, glad to hear though that the braces helped! Soon that swelling will be gone and you will feel better!
The lasst couple weeks for me dragged, it was like a slow death, lol! I am happy though that I went 3 days past my due date, little man was healthy and was coming when he was ready
Any day though for you really! Very exciting! I can’t wait to see the pics! <3
You look so freaking good! I have 4 weeks left as of today and I’m mixed about the timing. When I say four weeks it seems like “holy crap, I have four more weeks till I have a little human to worry about” and then when I take it day by day boy does it crawwwlll by.
I cannot wait to see your twins! Going to be gorgeous!
You look amazing mama!
Wow 33 weeks. Good for you. It is not easy to carry twins. You are rocking it!
How exciting!!
