scenes from the weekend 11.7-11.9

November 10, 2014

What a weekend! I love weekends that have the best mix of busyness and time to relax, and this weekend was just that!

Friday

Before I even got home from school, I made a quick little stop at the Black Hole, aka Target. I had to pick up a few things for the girls, and of course I found something for myself. I can’t even tell you how much I love this pullover tunic sweatshirt. I need one in every single color. Go buy it now!

When I got home from school, I spent a little time with the girls before packing them up their things for a big night at Nana’s house! The husband and I had plans to go out to one of my co-worker’s houses for pizza, drinks, and games, so my mom took them for the night.

My mom wasn’t gone but an hour before she called me and told me Brooklyn took off twice walking. We officially have two walkers! So crazy people… you can find me weeping in my closet… and investing in leashes. #noshame

No pictures from our time on Friday night, but it was a blast!

Saturday

I. Slept. Until. 7:30.

Enough said. I can’t even tell you the last time that happened. It was absolutely glorious. While I love my babies with every fiber of my being, I am not a fan of being woken up so early every single Saturday. I leisurely woke up, went to the gym for a run, and went home to make an omelet for breakfast. Perfection.

A kid free grocery shopping excursion also happened before I picked the girls up at my mom’s house. Can I just tell you how pumped I was to find a gluten free pumpkin pancake mix at Trader Joe’s? Delicious!

After I got the babies home, a lot of silliness ensued. Apparently they had a “no napping” order from someone out there.

Giggles.

Shrieking.

Playing Peek-a-boo with each other.

These girls were not sleeping.

no, they do not sleep in the same crib. after giving in to their crazy antics, i put them in the same crib so they could play.

I gave up after an hour of them playing around, and I have to say I had fun joining them in their sillies.

If there’s anything I have learned in the last 14 months, it has to be just to roll with whatever happens.

No nap?

No problem.

Until 6:00 that is. These girls were EXHAUSTED. An early dinner, bath, and bedtime is just what the doctor mommy ordered. They were down for the count by 6:30.

…Which left a nice relaxing night ahead for the two of us. We enjoyed Korean Beef Bowls with a broccoli addition and watched Catching Fire on Netflix. I was in bed and sleeping by 9:30. So good.

Sunday

I am glad I went to bed early on Saturday because my inner alarm clock (or… Brooklyn) had me up at 5:55 AM. Party Girl and I enjoyed some snuggles on the couch watching Jake and the Neverland Pirates before she had her milk and the rest of the household decided it was time for the day to start.

We all (minus John… and Brooklyn because she’s picky. I tried!) enjoyed some of those pumpkin pancakes I mentioned earlier before church.

And what is breakfast without a side of a huge glitter bow?

After church we headed over to my mom’s house for lunch with some of the family. The girls, however, needed a snack and bed – immediately!

I keep saying it, but I have no idea how we will ever get down to one nap. Sundays are tough, y’all! (I did it!) By the time we are out of church, they are so crabby, tired, and just plain done.

Thankfully they both took a great 2 hour nap (2.5 for B!) and were ready to play when they woke up.

Brooklyn showed off her moves a little more yesterday afternoon, and I am seriously so so proud of her. I kept saying all along… “This child knows how to walk. She is choosing not to.” which very well may be true. But to watch her face when she takes those steps – she is SO proud. Awesome.

Once we headed home, we played, played, and played some more before the inevitable Sunday afternoon meltdowns occurred. That’s what one nap will do to a girl!

Spaghetti.

Baths.

Books.

Bed.

By 6:45… what a nice trend!

That totally rhymed. It wasn’t even planned, I swear! These early bedtimes definitely helped me out this weekend. I was able to get some nice relaxing in and write out this post so I could be in bed at my grandmotherly bedtime of 8:30 or 9:00.

How was your weekend?
