Has it really been over a week since I have been home from one of the most fun weekends I have had in a very long time? I probably promised you this recap earlier, but oh well – life got in the way. As you all probably know, Courtney asked me to accompany her for a girls’ weekend. She posed the opportunity to me about a month ago, and I had been counting down the days/hours/minutes ever since I found out about our Glamping (aka: Glamorous Camping)trip. Courtney was asked to the Paws Up Resort in Montana to be a part of Skinny Cow’s contest to win a Glamping weekend, and she got to bring a friend…. me!
The weekend started Thursday evening when Courtney and I met up at the Chicago airport. We had an evening of flying ahead of us, and we were both exhausted. However, the two of us could not stop talking! We talked the entire way to Missoula Montana where we landed around midnight. We were both happy to get to the resort and get a few hours of sleep, but we had a little hiccup – my bag was stuck in Denver! I went with the flow, figured I could borrow some of Courtney’s things, and knew my bag would turn up the following afternoon so I wasn’t too upset. We had a 40 minute drive from the airport to the Paws Up Resort, and it seemed to fly by. Upon arrival to the resort, we were immediately taken to our cabin that we would be staying at for the duration of the trip (you can see pictures of one of the cabins here). We checked the place out (GORGEOUS!), ate some ice cream (1:30 AM ice cream – why not?), and headed to bed.
The next morning after a few hours of sleep, Courtney and I woke up early to get ready for our group breakfast with the other bloggers who were invited to the resort, some of the girls who work for Skinny Cow, and a few of the representatives for Mode (previously GLAM) media. The breakfast spread was incredible – scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage, quiche, fruit, and a variety of breads (gluten free as well!) and drinks. We stuffed ourselves and socialized with some of the other girls in attendance. I was MORE than happy to meet Presley and her friend Aubrie. If you don’t read her blog, you have to – she is HILARIOUS. Seriously, Courtney and I were laughing all weekend long.
After breakfast, we headed to a camp site. Paws Up Resort has 5 different camp sites, all with “tents”. I put tents in quotation marks because they are anything but the tents I have ever seen before. You see, I’m not a camper, per se. Bugs, sleeping on the ground, and no access to real bathrooms is not my cup of tea. Glamping is completely different and it totally blew my mind – these “tents” are like hotel rooms! Think big bedrooms, comfy queen sized beds, and Jacuzzi tubs.
The bathroom actually blew my mind – the TENT bathroom had heated floors. I can get on board with that. Each campsite comes with your own personal “butler” as well, so they can get what you need, assist you with a campfire, book any sort of activities you want to do. It also isn’t a bad thing that they are young, quite attractive males (pretend like you didn’t read that Husband.).
I actually thought we were going to be staying in those tents over the weekend, but it was still too cold. I was kind of bummed!
After our tour of the campsite, we were free to do what we wanted for the rest of the day. Courtney and I got settled into our cabin (and I rejoiced because United called me to tell me my bag was on the way – woot!) before we headed off to lunch. I ordered a sandwich on gluten free bread and sweet potato fries. Oh my goodness, the sandwich stole the show. It was delicious! It had a white bean puree, portabella mushrooms, lettuce, and grilled onions. I was a definite fan. We quickly finished up lunch though because we had a massage booked at 1 PM that we couldn’t miss!
If only every Friday afternoon included an hour long deep tissue massage. It was incredible.
After our massage we still had 5 hours to kill before dinner – it was 75 and sunny outside. We took advantage of our “down time” and laid out on the deck in the sunshine for a few hours. We chatted, rested, and it was so so nice to not have to worry about anything. We also went for a hike and stumbled upon a trail that had some sort of obstacle course on it. We got stuck on an obstacle. #imnotsurprised
That evening we had plans to meet up with Presley and Aubrey for dinner at 7:30. We made the most of our time and headed to the bar, Tank, to get a few drinks before dinner. Our favorites were the Huckleberry Hound as well as the Raspberry Sangria. Both had homemade ingredients made specifically by the bar tender, Allen. They were incredible! It was probably a bad thing to have a few drinks on an empty stomach because by the time we got to dinner, we were both feeling quite gooood.
Dinner was amazing – good food, good conversation, and a lot of laughs to go around.
After dinner, we headed back to our cabin and called it a night – it had been a long day!
Stay tuned for Saturday’s recap!
